See if you have time to include dumb fucking “joke” questions in your job application, you absolutely owe every single applicant a personalised rejection email with feedback.

This is not at all a new take on life here in the US of A however I feel as though I will peel my skin off if I don’t say it;
People are seeing death as a valid option to the current state of the world + the future and now I am fully understanding why.
There is no more ‘village’. There are no reliable social safety nets installed that are realistic or easy to access. You H A V E to drive EVERYWHERE if you’re even able to drive. If your area has a bus it has to fight on the road with every other driver. To get 9 miles away from point A to B takes 2 hour out of your day. No one is hiring or they are paying minimum wages for you to run their whole circus operation damn near by yourself. Average 1 bedroom apartments are $1.1k a month for 500 sqf and if you SOMEHOW get a roommate and get them to agree to split rent and utilities then y’all are going to battle for personal space. A 2 bed is out of the question bc there is no way in hell that you can save anything if you are spending more then half of your wages on rent. You want to go out and have a sense of what it means to be fulfilled as a human? Don’t even dream about it, you have your bills coming up.
Get a second or 3rd job? Wait… you were able to find one? They didn’t ghost? Lucky you; now you are better off & you can now sleep knowing that the 2nd job will be able to pay for the gas ($3+/gal), insurance (3X what it used to be but still making you open up ur wallet before they step in), and your car note! (Wayyy too much for a used).
What is fun? What are get togethers? What is a ‘cheap meal’? What’s a bucket list? What’s a vacation? What’s a hobby? Wait, you can afford to replace items and not get anxiety over it? You can afford more then an arm full of groceries?? Will you be able to retire by the time you’re 60 with enough money in the bank to not just exist, but to do the things you’ve always wanted to do during those working decades? What will elder and death care look like? Will your children be able to not live in poverty?
We as young people are seeing death as a valid option because we know we will NEVER see an adult life like those before us prior to the 90’s. Starting a family or adding on to your family will put you in poverty. Buying a house if you’re fortunate enough will put you in poverty. Renting will put you in poverty. Working more jobs will put you in poverty. Having a car will put you into poverty, not having one will keep you from ever getting one. We will just work and work to never ever have anything to show for it. This is not the lifestyle that I’d doom more life to do for the rest of their lives. Something’s gotta change sooner rather then later and it’s gotta be grass roots. We have to be willing to break some rules to get to where we need to be.
Things. Must. Change.

Going on multiple interviews for jobs paying under 50,000 is insane.

Got a job interview for a teaching job and turns out I have to do 2 weeks of intense training and actual classes, both unpaid, with no security of being hired. But it wasn't even "being hired", because it was fucking freelance work, and so turns out I have no sick leave, no paid holidays and I have to do my own taxes. Yeah fuck right off. Fucking horrible job market.

The critical takeaway here is that your college major matters—a lot. Your Bachelor’s degree in Engineering will likely land you a well-paying job; your Gender Studies degree isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit. Think carefully before you go into debt!

Reasons I've been turned down from jobs(mostly don't even get interviews):
No car (but I live next door and can bike or walk)
Covid happened, and now they don't want to train entry-level jobs
Over staffed (but if you call for their services, they say they're understaffed [Humane Society]
No previous work to 2020. I was in school and car-less the only places I could get to that were hiring were doing so during school hours. As in 8am-4pm sorta situations
Overstaffed and actually Overstaffed
I'm disabled and need a stool or something because I can't stand for long periods. (ADA law being broken but who cares) [This was the Goodwill]
Current Job Market
And when family asks, I answer honestly: Tough job market, most places can't hire as many people as they could before covid, and they don't like training, so entry-level jobs aren't really considered entry-level. And I've had friends in management positions outright say they're so.
Family won't stop asking and I haven't stopped applying.

Is Tertiary Education Education a Scam?
While I am very pro knowledge and skill acquisition and would not declare that higher education is a waste of time, I understand where the "tertiary education is a scam" crowd is coming from.
For many people, myself included, we went to university believing the "go to uni, get good grades and a good well paying job is practically guaranteed" promise. We bought into the idea but upon graduation we realised that the promise was exaggerated or some might say outright false. That promise was true when the world's population was lower
Some of us, myself included, fell for the "it is because you have just a bachelors degree, get a masters then the well paying job is guaranteed". We did that and heart break. We got jobs but not as well paying as we expected.
The truth is many people attended university with the intention of getting lucrative jobs so when we don't get those jobs, we feel duped. The people who had to go into debt to acquire their degrees with the hopes of getting a well paying job are understandably very bitter.
The truth no one told us is that there aren't enough lucrative jobs to go around. There are more qualified candidates looking for high paying jobs than there are high paying jobs; supply exceeds demand. This is the case in all industries and sectors as when people notice an industry or sector is lucrative, they switch to that career or put their children in that career and eventually you have a lot of people in that field that causes unemployment and lower wages in that area. A perfect example of this is the tech industry: Many people believed the IT Industry was the path to financial security but alas the mass layoffs. I know unemployed and underpayed Software Engineers/ Programmers.
Is this a "do not go to university" post? No, absolutely not. This is a if you want a well paying job, you might need to consider a career in healthcare although

Humans love to work.
It’s when you force them to work for 8 hours almost daily for the rest of their lives to barely afford a roof over their head, for a soul-wrecking job, making millionaires into billionaires, that they end up hating it.

Current job market:
I'm applying to Server positions for some part time work as I go back to school. A bar had me apply online, in which I was subjected to a 150 question Employee Quality Index assessment followed by a 60 question straight up IQ test. Like a proper IQ test.

6 quick tips to spruce up your resume ⚡️
There are many ways you can spruce up your resume to make it stand out from the rest. Here are a few tips to consider:
Customize your resume for each job: Tailor your resume to match the specific job you're applying for by highlighting the skills and experiences that are most relevant to that position. This will show the employer that you're a good fit for the job and have taken the time to research their company.
Use a clear and professional format: Choose a clean and easy-to-read format for your resume. Use headings, bullet points, and white space to make it easy to skim through. Ensure that the font and size are consistent throughout.
Highlight your accomplishments: Instead of just listing your job duties, focus on your accomplishments and how you added value to your previous roles. Use quantifiable metrics and specific examples to demonstrate your achievements.
Use action verbs: Start each bullet point with an action verb to show what you have done. Use strong and specific verbs like "created," "managed," or "implemented" to convey your skills and experience.
Include relevant keywords: Many companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to screen resumes. Use relevant keywords from the job description in your resume to ensure it passes the ATS and gets seen by the hiring manager.
Proofread your resume: Before submitting your resume, make sure you proofread it carefully for typos and grammatical errors. Ask a friend or mentor to review it as well to get a fresh perspective.
By following these tips, you can create a polished and impressive resume that will help you stand out in the job market! Good luck! 🍀
