hear me out hear me out the two badass american city planners that sam and luke assumed were stewie and cheevo are in fact robot clones/standins created by stewie and cheevo when they retreated from the public eye and started pulling strings behind the scenes instead. stewie built them, cheevo powers them, they serve as their eyes out in the city. also they're massive nerds so of course the two of them would make their standins as cool as possible...........idk man idk but. consider the possibilities

ive been using ellipsus for a couple months now and i really like it! built in dark mode and focus mode, easy to navigate, i like the default font. downsides: cant export as .docx, fewer fancy options than word/gdocs, i dont think the download to pdf button works? maybe my device just blocks it. overall tho it's really great and i actually enjoy writing on it! i swapped over there after the ai scraping/privacy issues w gdocs, still use word but now that my laptop is withering away it's good to have a reliable online word processor. i would absolutely recommend. also you dont have to use a password or create an account it just sends you an email code when you sign in. also theyre completely anti-ai and their privacy policy seems pretty tight!

Since the whole thing with NaNoWriMo has gone down, I've noticed that one of their former sponsors, Ellipsus, has cut contact with NaNoWriMo because they do not support their stance on AI; I didn't know what Ellipsus was, but upon further research I've found that they are a writing platform that works a lot like Google Docs and Microsoft Word, only with a heavier leaning on the story-writing aspect and connecting with other writers - and they also completely denounce any use of AI, both in the writing process itself and in the use of their platform. I really appreciate that.

Since this is the case (and since I've noticed Google has begun implementing more AI into their software), I've decided to give Ellipsus a try to see if it's a good alternative to Google Docs (my main writing platform). It's completely free and so far, I've found it simple to use (although it is pretty minimal in its features), and I really like the look of it.

I figured I'd spread the word about this platform in case any of you writers would want to give it a try, and if you do, let me know how you like it!

my beautiful daughter with many accursed illnesses (3 year old laptop with a new error every month) has returned from the war (2 hour boot loop), where i wrote her every day (toggled every setting i could access from the bios menu) to no response. at long last she arrives, but i sense something has changed within her heart (force restarts if i make her move too many files). i spend every waking hour (before i go to bed) tending to her bedside (frantically copying important files to external drive), but she continues to waste away (2 hour estimate to move one decently sized folder of mostly app setup files). perhaps a seaside trip (windows reset) would do her good, but alas, the sea is faraway, and i fear the journey may do her harm (i had to reset my ms password and now i think if i try to open troubleshoot menu again it'll send her back into the boot loop). i find myself seeing apparitions in the path-stones. i only hope they are not omens of the coming days.

yippiee!! i found a horribly clunky and slightly sticky xbox controller at the thrift store today for three dollars! it is new york jets themed and the cord is very long and the start button seems to be attempting to dissolve itself, but i now have an actual controller for pc gameplay yayayy

context bc realizing this sounds sad: i grew up with a wii and a wii only. i do not want to set up a wii remote with my laptop. that is way too much trouble. also, my sibling still uses the wii and i don't want to take a controller from them. i don't play many games, but up to this point i've just made do with keyboard and mouse (tho not always even a mouse, since i don't play on a desk so i don't have space for one). this works for most of the relatively simple games i usually play, but i'm getting into sonic and it's a little harder to play a speed/racing game on pc with just keyboard. in my opinion. so i found this!!!

anywayyyys got it running got it mapped to sa2 on flycast emulator and it works!!! has some issues with right joystick inputs, you have to press it quite forcefully, but i'm pretty hard on remotes especially in this sort of game so i didn't really notice it. i'm more used to nintendo controllers, and generally prefer those, but i will - and i can't stress this enough - take whatever i can get. i love hodgepodging together random cheap stuff into a fun and personalized experience, and tech is no exception. my whole computer at this point is a whole bunch of open-source programs and applications i think are neat, all glommed into a vaguely windows 10-shaped mass a la caddisfly.

proud to announce i have now passed one level of sonic adventure 2 👍wowzers. still figuring out the mechanics, it's definitely not the smoothest game to run on my pc esp with this remote, and there are probably some things i'll do to optimize my experience and get it running better, but it's fun! and i'm making progress! and this is a very easy and accessible option for me to actually enjoy playing games on my computer.

oh fuck dude i just opened my beloved darling (new) laptop after being away from her for 3 weeks (traveling) and. system32 error. needs a windows reinstall. i literally JUST got her all fixed up from the last thing that went wrong this is awful i hope my recovery device is still set up. and i need to find the usb drive. and say goodbye to all my sims mods i installed. fuck this i'm mourning already CLARISSA!!!! DARLING!!! WHAT HAPPENED IN THE 3 WEEKS I WAS AWAY???

my darling daughter (previously mentioned 3 year old error-prone laptop) succumbed to the sickness (i forced a windows reinstall) two days ago. when she awoke, reanimated by the priest (a billion restarts bc it was taking so long), she could not remember me.... i fear she is still suffering from amnesia (ALL MY FIREFOX BOOKMARKS AND CUSTOMIZATION AND APP CONFIGS AND EXTENSIONS AND WORKAROUNDS ARE GONE 😭😭😭😭😭😭 WHICH COULDVE AVOIDED BY PORTING THEM TO AN EXTERNAL DRIVE BEFORE REINSTALLING BUT I TOTALLY FORGOT UNTIL I'D ALREADY DONE IT AUGHHHHH). i do not think she will ever be as she once was. i am trying to see it as a fresh start, another chance, but seeing her so bare and empty is painful.

humiliating news, gamers: girlbossed too close to the sun and messed with perms in a folder i shouldn't have, uninstalled a file and tried to reinstall but it blocked me (despite the fact that i SHOULD HAVE THE PERMS!!!!! WINDOWS GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND LET ME RIP UP MY GIRL'S (LAPTOP'S) GUTS !!!) and now i can't open any audio files and actually media player doesn't even run. in penance i must back up clarissa's thoughts and memories and consciousness to the last usb i have on me (im packing up to go out-of-country and already sent most of my tech stuff home) which means i have to hope and pray the backups of the usb's contents (a bunch of music given to me by a family friend, means a lot and i dont want to lose it) will be okay since it has to get wiped to create installation media. and then i have to reinstall windows on her. and of course it'll restore a bunch of defaults so i'll probably have to go turn off all the trackers and ai bullshit and data profiling i JUST WENT THROUGH AND TURNED OFF!!!! clarissa my darling i'm so sorry i didn't mean to do all this i thought if it let me delete a file it would let me reinstall it i was just trying to make you work better. forgive me

hell is real and it's a 90 second video that should be so so easy but i can count the pixels in the source interview and it took three hours and a filetype converter for it to import into my editing software with audio that worked
