Man. Dirk growing up with a! Dave and slowly but surely getting a crush on him. I reckon Dirk would have the decency not to talk about it until he's at least 18. However he sucks at social cues so Dave is already absolutely aware of the crush by the time Dirk is like 16 and is silently begging Dirk to not say anything or try to act on it in public. Dave is not going to bring it up with Dirk either because he doesn't want it to be any sort of invitation or rejection. Any time Dirk walks even a little too close to Dave in public, Dave is already wondering if the tabloids are going to talk about incest or grooming first. (Dave did not ask for this. Unfortunately Dirk has multiple emotional regulation and attachment issues so of course he's going to be convinced he's in love with the person who is always there for him. Dave doesn't know how to correct that belief so he just pretends it isn't happening.)
