Have Your Mickey Shaped Ice Cream and Eat It Too
Flying out to Walt Disney World and back in one day sounds insane. And it is… I would know. Inspired by several Youtube personalities, I decided to challenge myself. At least for them, they all live in the Orlando area. As for me, well, I’m flying from Philly. A challenge indeed, but one I was more than willing to take on. Not only have I done this once, but three times now. You may be asking…

8 Things You Should Take on Your Next Disney Parks Visit
Face Masks - We now are living in the reality of face masks every day and every where for our own protection and those around us who are unable to protect themselves (ie: kids, elderly, etc.) Make sure to bring at least a couple face masks to the park.
Ziploc/Sealable Baggies - Super important to keep your used masks away from the clean ones. Otherwise this defeats the purpose of bringing extra masks.
Hand Sanitizer/Disinfecting Wipes - When my siblings and I went on March 13th (soooo long ago), we were diligent about wiping our tables and keeping our hands clean and it was honestly so much more convenient when trying to find a place to sit. We have to wipe the tables anyways so we can sit at those tables with crumbs on them.
Portable charger - For me this is so so important, since my phone battery life is tragic. RIP my iPhone. I like to always have back ups to our backups since I'm normally in a larger group.
Reusable Straw - Not only are you helping save the turtles like Crush and Squirt, but you'll limit your contact with outside materials and has better protection.
Mini Cell Phone Fan - I don't know about you, but I get hot walking around, even when it's cold outside. These little gadgets are so small and portable, they have a variety of color choices on Amazon.
Snacks - Always a good rule of thumb to carry some extra snacks. This will help you save money too without having to buy as much food...but let's be real, mickey-shaped food tastes better 😉
Merch!! - Show off your love for Disney/Marvel/Star Wars with your favorite ears, t-shirt or any other item you've bought recently. And if its from a small shop, snap a pic! They will love seeing their hard work put into use!

There is a Hidden Mickey on the LeFou’s Brew Stein. Do you see it? My eagle eyed daughter spotted it immediately. Sticking with the Beauty and the Beast theme I have adopted after being inspired by my new Chip earrings from @ephraimcreations, today’s #thirstythursday post is the amazing Lefou’s Brew from Gaston’s Tavern. This was so much better than I expected! I thought it was going to be fancy apple juice, but it has an amazing hit of mango and marshmallow flavor and a frothy frozen consistency that I was not expecting. Apple, mango, and marshmallow may sound like a weird overly sweet combination, but they are actually pretty perfect together. My husband is not a big sweets fan, and this is his favorite Disney treat that we have tried. ⭐️ Pro tip: bring your own larger reusable straw. The paper straw was not the best with the consistency of this drink. ⭐️ Not able to make it to Gaston’s to try this refreshing Disney Drink? Check out my stories for a copy cat recipe to try at home. Are you a fan of Lefou’s brew? . . . . . #lefousbrew #gastonstavern #beautyandthebeast #disneybeautyandthebeast #hiddenmickey #hiddenmickeys #disneydrinks #thursdaytip #disneytips #fantasyland #magickingdom #disneyparks #disneyreviews #disneyworldorlando #disneyflorida #disneysnacks #disneysouvenirs #disneyworldvacation #lefou #disneybelle #gaston #beautyandthebeastparty #disneyaccounts #disneytrips #disneyinsta #disneygram #instadisney #disneyfoodie #drinksofinstagram (at Gaston's Tavern) https://www.instagram.com/p/CK5T9EOBQKY/?igshid=18pklgg8c2x06

Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group Advice (from someone who actually rode it)
I recently rode Rise of the Resistance, the new ride at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in Disneyland. This new ride has been highly anticipated, and to accommodate the crowds, Disney and created a “boarding group” system, unlike anything they’ve used before. I wanted to share what I have learned by trying to get a boarding pass myself over the course of two days, and what I gathered from friends experiences, in hopes that this may help someone either understand the system better, or hopefully get a boarding pass/ group of their own, and experience the best ride I’ve ever experienced. (This post is about the system in Disneyland, and from what I can tell it might be similar to the WDW version, but I cannot confirm)
WHAT YOU NEED
a smart phone
the Disneyland app
a Disney account to sign into the app
a valid park ticket
all of the tickets of the people in your party to be scanned into the Disneyland app (and this would apply to every person present.) i.e if you have four people in your party, all four tickets should be on everyones phones, in their app
you NEED to be in the park before the park opens for business that day to the public. i.e: if the park opens at 9am, be in the gates before 9am
ADVICE
make sure your phone is charged of course. not only do you need it to get a boarding pass, but you also scan your boarding pass when getting in line for the ride, so you need it accessible.
plan ahead for when you need to leave to be able to get into the park. the entirety of the in between space between DCA and Disneyland (aka the esplanade) was filled with lines to get into the park both days that I went.
do NOT use the park wifi. It’s bad to begin with, but now everyone is going to be on the network, or at least trying to be.
when preparing for the time for the boarding groups to “drop” aka park open, make sure you have completely closed out of the Disneyland app, and opened it “fresh” about 2 minutes before park open, and just remain on the opening screen. do not go further into the app in order to prevent having to refresh the app, or close it out again.
make sure everyone in your party is attempting to get a boarding pass right when it “drops”. the more people in your party, all working towards getting a boarding group, the better off you may be. more hands on deck, more phones, different networks, just a better chance.
once the clock strikes the time of park open, that will be your time to hit the “Find Out More” on the Disneyland app section for Rise, then you’ll hit “Join Boarding Group”, from there it will already have every ticket on your app checked to be added into your group, and continue to follow the prompts to hopefully get you to the screen that says you have received a boarding group.
THINGS WE “KNOW”
Disney has said that they can accommodate 8-12 boarding groups per hour, as long as the ride is in proper operation aka it doesn’t break down.
I have yet to be able to find out how many people are in a boarding group, or how many parties for that matter, however, I had two different friends who got boarding passes with their friends, and both groups were about 6-8 people. to clarify these friends were there different days, and got different boarding groups.
the time you arrive to the park DOES NOT affect your boarding group placement. As long as you are in the gates before the park is officially open for business, you have the same chance as everyone else for a boarding group.
you have to scan into Disneyland, not Disney California Adventure, to be able to get a boarding group
the boarding groups have been “selling out” or “running out” within the first minute to two minutes of the park opening. The only time I have heard it taking more than a minute was on Wednesday 1/22/20, where it took 55 minutes to distribute all boarding groups. According to cast members I have spoken to, Wednesday’s are the “slow” and “dead” day at Disneyland, so maybe that had something to do with it.
You are not guaranteed to ride the ride. If something goes down with the ride, and they cannot accommodate you, even if you are considered to be in one of the “planned” groups for the day, things can still change.
The number seems to change as to what is considered a planned group, and when the cap of the planned group is, versus the unplanned. typically it has been groups 70 or higher.
The ride DOES NOT continue to run until park close. If they get to the end of their boarding groups before park close, they will not add more people. At some point, they decide what the final group will be, and the only way you know what that number is, is to go to the entrance of the ride, and see if there is a cast member will be standing outside with a sign that says that final group, about 2+ hours before the park closes.
THINGS TO REMEMBER/KEEP IN MIND
just as you probably wanted to be surprised for this ride, consider not posting spoilers or ride throughs of the ride, or at least warning your followers and friends before doing do. keep the magic alive and fresh for everyone.
there are warnings on the walls closer to the ride entrance that warn you of fast drops, and fast movement. if you cant handle a carousel, this might not be the ride for you.
please be understanding that just as this ride is new to you, its new to the cast members (who keep in mind, did not build it) so if there are issues, be kind.
YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO RIDE THIS RIDE. if you are in the “back up” range, so for the day I actually rode it, the backup groups were anything 72 and above, so that is a big maybe if you get in that range. Even with a boarding pass, things can change. Be understanding.
YOU MIGHT NOT GET A BOARDING GROUP/PASS. There are hundreds, and maybe thousands of people who are trying to do the same as you. Just be warned.
For my experiences, see the bottom of this post! ☺️
I think that is everything I can think of. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a note/comment on this post, DM me on Instagram @anneliesinautopia , or tweet me on twitter @anneliesveldman . I hope this is helpful, and may the force be with you!
All of the things in this post are from my experience as an annual pass holder/ guest and from my friends experiences as AP’s or guests only. All opinions and comments are my own.
The first time I went to get boarding passes, the park opened at 8 am, I got into the park at about 7:30, and had an issue with my app because I already had it loaded on the ROTR page at 8, so it didn’t refresh, so by the time I finally got it to work, I ended up getting boarding group 121, which was in the range of the “back up” boarding groups. That day the backups started at group 80, meaning anything past 79 was not a guarantee for the day, even though you had a group. The idea is that if they get through their groups fast enough, or sooner than expected, they will start letting in the backup groups. However something I learned that night, like I mentioned above, was that they choose a while before the park closes what the last group will be, as well as the fact that they don’t run until park close. So no Rise for me that night. The next day the park opened at 9, I was in there at about 8:30 ish, and this time I had four friends with me. Learning from my previous issues with the app, thanks to screen recording my first experience and watching it back, I made sure to have the app completely closed out, all my friends had theirs closed out to, but loaded it to at least to the first screen, the one just when the app first opens. That turned out to be beneficial because when the clock struck 9, my friend was able to get us a boarding group, and my phone got to the page about two or three seconds after he did, but it already registered that we had a boarding group! That day we were lucky enough to get boarding group 15 and road the ride around 10 or so and W O W. That’s all I will say 😉

Disney’s All Star Sports Resort
Hello fellow Disney enthusiasts. I’m going to start this review off backwards..
In conclusion, would I stay at the Disney All Star Sports Resort again?
Yes.
It’s great for the price, the theme is amazing, the buildings, the details are all still on par with everything else you find at Disney.
If I could change something, what would it be?
To be nearer to the main pool and main building.
Would I look into getting a dining plan next time?
Yes. Especially if there’s an offer for free dining. If there’s no offer at the time of booking I think I’d look into staying at a hotel that offers more kitchen amenities so we could at least make some of our own food.
Is the location good?
Yes. Longest bus ride is about 10 minutes (complete guess) with no traffic.
My partner and I have just touched down back in the UK after 2 glorious Disney filled weeks at the Disney All Star Sports Resort.
So, whether you’re aware or not there are three Disney All Stars Resorts - Sports, Music and Movies.
We happened to choose Sports because it was the best financial choice for us at the time, it being the cheapest choice (and we all know there’s no cheap when it comes to Disney). We managed to get the package for £1702 for the both of us with TUI. This price was standard luggage and extra legroom for my long leg beau. This did not include prices for park tickets or any type of meal plan.
The checking in process was easy. We were given our free magic bands that I had pre-chosen on the Disney website - if anyone would like more information about how to do this let me know because I had a few people messaging on Instagram asking for help.
We were offered the option not to have housekeeping for the duration of our stay in return for a $130 Disney gift card that could be used anywhere in Disney World, so we opted for the gift  card. We were regularly checked on by housekeeping if you were in need of anything throughout the duration of the trip.
I also received my Happy Birthday badge upon request at the check in desk. We were handed a map of the grounds that held 5 different sport themes buildings. There is surfing - nearest to the Surfs Up Pool (larger pool of the two) nearest to all amenities like front desk and food court, basketball, tennis, baseball (nearest to the children’s pool) and football.
We were allocated to tennis. Tennis was a 5-7 minute walk away from the main building which isn’t ideal but not a concern either.
The overall theming to every building was sensational. Gigantic sport equipment engulfed the buildings and the colours are so vivid and bright. Like everything at Disney the detailing was beyond anything you’d ever expect.
Tennis included enormous green tennis rackets over the buildings, giant green umpire chairs either side a large tennis court where Huey, Dewey and Louie played baseball and an angry Donald stands with his tennis racket on the opposing side.
Unfortunately we did not get the glorious views of the Ducks playing games but views of the tall greenery over the opposite side of the building. We were allocated ground floor which in some cases is more accessible and easier after a busy day at the parks.
Our room was basic. I mean basic, but what more can you expect from a budget hotel. I did think that with other budget hotels you would at least have a kettle and or a microwave if you’re staying for 2 weeks. We were equipped with an iron which I am very thankful for, a mini fridge and a safe. No kettle, no microwave.
We also had Disney toiletries like face soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner which are all attached to the wall, I found this really convenient and handy (also relieves the temptation to take the free Disney bottles home to show the relatives). We were provided with towels, small ones, even smaller ones and flannels. The bathroom was petite and had a bath shower and of course a toilet.
We had a small flat screen TV with many, many sports channels (to which we didn’t understand for the first week until Josh clicked and reminded me, we are staying in the SPORTS resort). We had the usual Disney information channels and some regular TV and movie channels. Two double beds took up the majority of the room (not the larger double beds you’d find in hotels but regular ones).
At night you could hear other guests flushing their toilet or going in the shower. You could hear the TV in the next room if you were quiet in yours. At one point I heard somebody snooze their iPhone alarm 3 times at 7am. My point is the walls are thin. It didn’t bother us, we were up early and the housekeeper would come and knock around 9am anyway to see if you needed anything. Shortly after that the maintenance guy would knock to check if the toilet flushed and your room lock was working correctly (this didn’t happen everyday but it felt like it).
The food at the hotel was near enough the same menu everyday. It changed throughout the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner but I feel everytime we ate at the foodcourt it was the same food being offered. All the meals are available on the My Disney Experience App, the menu, the price and the times of day that meals change. I found the prices were reasonable. Reasonable for Disney. Although this time we didn’t have a meal plan because we just missed out on the free dining offer with Attraction Tickets Direct and I didn’t have enough information on whether or not the dining plan is actually worth doing. I do feel like now we’ve been and we spent so much of our money on food it would be worth doing obviously if you’re staying onsite.
Another option we used throughout our stay was UberEats. I really believe we spent more money on UberEats due to pure convenience, than we would have spent if we ate at the foodcourt. I mean, one morning I spent $40 on Ihop for Josh and I, once the delivery fee, the tip and the service fee is applied it all adds up but it literally gets delivered to wherever you want. We got it delivered to the nearest car park to us and walked maybe 30 seconds to get our food.
So from that experience I will be keeping my eye out for the free dining plan offers with various ticket venders. We did find some great deals with UberEats so we will probably still use them in the future for something different to eat or if we’re craving a McDonalds at 4am.
The Disney transport that is included in the stay when you stay onsite is brilliant, can’t fault it. Some days there would be no time for buses being displayed and we’d be waiting there 40 minutes to find out when our next bus was, this was usually Typhoon or Disney Springs. I found it so easy getting from park to park and back to the resort. It’s more convenient than having to wait around for the ferry, locate your car and queue to leave the car park. The buses ran every 20 minutes and you were back to the resort in no longer than 10 minutes? The furthest park away from us was Magic Kingdom. You could locate bus times either via the app or on the screens located at the bus departure zones.
I hope this review gives you some sort of insight of what our experience was like. Of course everybody’s experiences are different. I’ve written this honestly and openly and in a way I, as a blog reader would want to read it.
All comments, help, advice is always welcome and be sure to check out the Instagram page @smalltimetravellers. It’s not the best but we’re growing and learning and we’ll get there someday.
Second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning.
Tay x

Tips to beat the heat
Going to WDW next month just for a couple of days. It’s going to feel like the face of the sun (excitedd) here are a couple of helpful tips. I have found over the years to beat the heat.
Tumblr media
1) USB rechargeable fan. I got mine off of Amazon for 15 bucks. Useful as hell. Has three speeds. I would suggest plugging it in each night to recharge before going out the parks again.
Mini Handheld Fan, VersionTECH.... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HGI0UB2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
2) Using the shops for shade and to soak up air conditioning as often as possible. 99% of the time shops can be used as short cuts to get through large crowds and not die of heat stroke in the most magical place on earth.
Tumblr media
3) Umbrellas are just as useful for rain as sun. On a very hot day use an umbrella as your own personal shade, can take about 5 to 7 degrees off of you.
4) ICE WATER IS FREE. Yes free. Not most things in Disney are free but this is. You can go to any quick service location and ask for ice water. This is highly important because you need to stay hydrated in the heat and humidity of Florida.
