Choosing to remain in the past or move forward into the future. Sometimes in life, our hearts want to cling tightly to a relationship, a memory, or an old ideal. This comes from a sense of comfort and nostalgia that comes from the familiar. But the mind, with its logic, tells us that progress and change are necessary because sometimes the most valuable lessons come from stepping boldly into things that are new and perhaps uncertain.

The most beautiful and difficult part of being human is dealing with the balance of these two powerful forces. Sometimes moving forward and heading into the unknown is harder than leaving the old behind. Other times, holding on to memories can be painful when change is inevitable. The art of life is finding that balance and aligning the call of our heart with the guidance of our mind. This is an individual journey, and each choice has its own beauty and challenges. Holding on and moving forward both serve the inner growth of a person, as long as this choice is made with awareness and sincerity.
