The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where very few people remain on Earth after the most successful fleet of space colonists left twenty years ago. Their departure was supposed to allow Earth to restore and replenish its ecosystems, but something has gone wrong – and Rosana will soon find out about the space organisation’s nefarious plans for their surviving islands.
Issues #1-4 will introduce us to Rosana, her superpowers, her family and her first encounter with the International Space Organisation - and someone on the inside might hold the key to her origins.
Here's a preview of sticker variants you can get, designed by @shaccharin!

Dynamite Comics Launches Kickstarter for GARGOYLES Classic Comics As Part Of The Show's 30th Anniversary.
Dynamite Comics and Disney Comics are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Gargoyles with the first-ever Kickstarter campaign featuring brand new graphic novels collecting long out-of-print Gargoyles comic books.
Tumblr media
Dynamite Entertainment brought back Gargoyles as a comic series in 2022 to great acclaim. Now the publisher is crowdfunding a reprint of the classic comics based on the beloved animated series. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, Dynamite is excited to offer three beautiful tomes collecting all of these previous tales for fans. The set is initially being offered on Kickstarter to reach and communicate with diverse fans of all ages directly.
“I’m honestly thrilled that these three volumes will finally give Gargoyles fans easy access to these great stories, including the canon SLG tales!” said Weisman. “I think the Dynamite Kickstarter is a great way for Gargoyles fans to get the word out and to reserve their copies. This could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I hope our fans don’t miss out!”
The first volume is the hotly anticipated compilation of the first-ever Gargoyles comic series from 1995. This 11-issue title was originally released by Marvel Comics and is set loosely between the first two seasons of the original TV show. The memorable first issue featured a jaw-dropping cover by artist Joe Madureira, one of the biggest superstars of the era from his work on Uncanny X-Men. The series was written by Martin Pasko (Superman) and Mort Todd.
The second and third volumes of the Gargoyles Classic Years will be an incredible treat. From 2006 to 2009, a new Gargoyles comic series was launched from SLG Publishing in association with CreatureComics — the first written by Weisman. The main series, often referred to as “Clan Building,” was joined by a companion title, Bad Guys. Issues #9-12 of Gargoyles and #5-6 of Bad Guys did not see release and were only printed in paperback collections with small print runs. They were produced at a smaller digest size and have been incredibly expensive for years on the secondary market.
The three-volume set is available in multiple variations for different kinds of fans and collectors. Each is available as either hardcover or paperback. Deluxe hardcover editions with signed tip-in pages are being offered. For the Gargoyles diehards, the most premium option will be the Gargoyles 30th Anniversary Premier Editions limited to just 1,000 copies each!
In addition to the books at the center of this celebration, the campaign will offer several add-ons for backers, including lithograph prints of Jae Lee and Amanda Conner’s covers for Dynamite’s Gargoyles #1. The most premium art piece anyone can get will be a deluxe signed and remarqued giclée print of Lee’s Gargoyles art.
In addition to the reprint of the full series, fans can get special facsimile editions of the very first issue with gold or purple foil stamping. Sketch cover options are also available, as well as commissioned original art from Lee. Plus, collector packs of variant cover sets or premium limited editions and metal covers for Dynamite’s series can be added.

because of the figure post i got curious and ended up reading all of weekly my oniichan and it was surprisingly tame. the manga and illustrations are almost all "cute girls doing cute things"-style moe. the figures (and their accompanying illustrations), which are the most "on-display", are definitely the most risqué part of the package.
I really liked the Mato-chan 4koma series, which I think might have been extended and can be read separately on Mangadex. I want to live in her beautiful bug world
I like the idea of getting together with your buddies because you love moe, designing characters and sculpting them and releasing books fleshing out those characters and their world. there was a nice diversity of offerings in a small package, (process sketches, color comics, illustration series, 4koma, gag pages, character designs, etc) while keeping them in a consistent format, with the same artist contributing the same medium each time.
i particularly liked the idea of yuuno's fantasy figure collection designs (the blood donation set, which is the strongest design-wise imo, even got sculpted as GKs!).
i feel like the format has a lot of potential, basically. it's ambitious--they talked about how it was basically a joke until it wasn't--but it's the kind of thing i'd like to see more of. i suppose kickstarter is where a project like this might happen, but i feel like it doesn't cater to this kind of niche... because of the subject matter and format it has that kind of doujin feel, but critically it has the manufacture backing for the figures.
i wouldn't recommend it to anyone but other moe scholars, but it's worth your time if you are. when i graduate to GK sculpting i hope everyone will make a zine with me

'“What? …What?” were David Tennant’s first words when, to everyone’s surprise, including his, he regenerated out of Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, and not Ncuti Gatwa, as we all expected. For three episodes the 10th Doctor is back as the 14th, before Gatwa takes over at Christmas, and in his first proper episode – after a neat appearance in a Comic Relief sketch – he has moved onto “Why?”
Allow me to help you there, David: falling ratings.
Oh, you feel bad for Jodie Whittaker, a great Doctor unfortunate to be trapped in a wormhole of so-so episodes and constantly under attack from galactic sized fury-bots, slamming down their GB News mugs (filled with good, white tea, love) and taking to the social medias to cry about the bloody woke mob at the BBC filling our children’s heads with stupid ideas about tolerance and being nice.
But really, the problem, to my mind, was that while showrunner Chris Chibnall threw everything at Whittaker’s Doctor, he didn’t truly hit upon a transcendent stone-cold classic episode, and the whole thing felt like it was trying too hard; it lacked a bit of easy-to-watch magic. Something which is immediately back with “the one in the skinny suit”, under returning showrunner Russell T Davies.
As Dr Who’s 60th anniversary approaches, this should turn into something of a celebration of Davies, the man who kickstarted the new Who back in 2005 with Christopher Ecclestone as the Doctor, before hitting absolute gold with Tennant. While Chibnall was working on multiple meta-levels leaving us all trying to keep up, Davies pitches this first episode as more like E.T. in Eastenders. This sense of bringing things down-to-earth is helped further by the return of Catherine Tate as Donna, easily the funniest of his companions.
Taking place in London – and I do love Davies’ London, he was a pioneer in showing positively, and accurately, a city remarkable for its peaceful diversity (don’t believe the hype) – The Star Beast sees a cute little Furby-like alien called The Meep ‘crash’ into the city, which falls under the protection of Donna’s daughter, Rose, as some other ant-like aliens hunt it down.
The Doctor is back to help, with the catch being that he has to prevent Donna from remembering who he is, otherwise She Will Definitely Die. Without getting too bogged down, the last time we saw Donna, she basically had to have her mind wiped for her own protection, after she took on Time Lord powers that were too strong for her human body – her tragedy, heartbreaking at the time, was that she’d have to live her life without remembering her time with the Doctor.
However, as we all know in post-Marvel entertainment, there’s always a way around She Will Definitely Die – but the particular way this episode plays out is really going to upset the Woke Police. For Donna’s daughter Rose is trans, people – cue GB News mugs smashing against flat screens – and her trans-ness is very much central to the plot as well as the thematic ideas of identity crises and Otherness (not least with regards to the Doctor) and what do we do, attack these people or rally around them. Oh boy, is it going to drive people mad.
It's actually an almost touching move by Davies in the way it backs up the seriously upfront progressive humanism of Chibnall’s tenure, and comes in defiance of those who thought featuring Rosa Parks in an episode was the end of the world. What people seem to forget about Doctor Who, both the Woke Police and those other furrow-browed joy deniers, the Fanboy Police, is that it is a family show, designed to be watched with kids.
Yes it should be clever and mind-bending but it’s not supposed to be careless or cool. You need a bit of Horrible Histories, you need a bit of future thinking around humanity, because, well, this is science fiction – it’s the nature of this game even more than dressing up as Klaatu.
Anyway, the truth is this episode is a little bit thin, the big twist around The Meep pretty obvious (though not to my shocked 8 year old), and the saving of Donna does end up being really quite clunky. But it doesn’t really matter.
It’s about the magic: the chemistry between Tennant and Tate is winning, the laugh out loud moments hit double figures (I particularly like Donna’s repeated disses to the cutesy Meep – “space rat”, “ferret from Mars”), the Tardis has had a rather natty Modern House renovation, and the Disney money now coming into the show is well spent on set-pieces that manage to be Spielberg-ian in uniting the spectacular with the suburban.
It’s a hoot, and as a way to drum up attention and goodwill towards the series in the run-up towards Gatwa taking over, it’s quite irresistible.
Gatwa will certainly have a lot to live up to, mind. For Tennant truly is the best Doctor ever. Yes, yes, I know you liked Tom Baker when you were a kid, but really, you're wrong: Tennant is the best. Like a Tex Avery cartoon trapped inside Camus’ Meursault, he’s an existentialist hero for all the family. Saturday night must-watch TV is back, and it’s Woker than ever, folks...'

Today I’m going to be discussing our cool partnership with the creator upcoming Indie Comic Luna - The Queen of Mahru.
Supporting this Black-led indie project is important for many industries and artists of color in general.
Short synopsis:
After a visit from a stranger from the future, Queen Luna discovers she is the only one whom can save her dying world from an evil threat.
Directly donating to the Kickstarter only helps further lift this project off the ground and gives money directly to the creators of this indie comic book series for the production and continued promotion of this excellent work.
This project also features a strong black female character contained within the realm of fantasy and although the genre is heavily becoming more diverse, it could still use a bit more.
Luna is a great example of what the future of fantasy comics can and should look like. <3

What Inspires Centralia?
Tumblr media
Happy Friday! Excited to announce we're on day 4 of the Centralia VOL 2 Kickstarter less than $300 away from 50% funding!
Folks have asked me about how I created the story of Centralia, so today, I want to talk about the themes and inspirations that make up the world and story.
The Setting
Tumblr media
The story takes place in the year 2050; a distant future, but not so distant that it feels alien. Phones are still tangible rectangles, cars still drive on the ground. Modern technology is more deeply-enmeshed with everyday life; what is ground-breaking for us in the present is now mundane, and people live comfortably alongside technologies once thought to be intrusive. In Centralia, sleek skyscrapers loom high over bustling streets packed with strangers, while magnetic elevated SkyRail train tracks weave vein-like throughout. At night, starless skies are flush with the hazy colorful glow of the city, an endless artificial twilight that seeps through the windows of every home. In a society that prizes and caters to the individual, people still yearn for that most basic desire of belonging, of community; and while businesses are happy to offer solutions, they too ring hollow and leave us feeling more lonely than before.
Tumblr media
When it comes to the visual design of Centralia, I take a lot of inspiration from my own experiences living in urban settings. Growing up in the Bay Area, my big city was San Francisco. Since 2016, Los Angeles has been my big city home, and I pull a lot of inspiration from both places!
Tumblr media
The Genre: What is Cyberpunk?
Cyberpunk is a subgenre of sci-fi that juxtaposes high-tech urban settings, often with futuristic technological and scientific innovations, with themes of societal collapse, decay, and dystopia. The protagonists of cyberpunk stories are typically marginalized loners living on the fringes of an oppressive society. Popular examples of Cyberpunk stories include Bladerunner, The Matrix, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and the aptly-named Cyberpunk 77.
Tumblr media
To be honest, when I set out to tell the story of Centralia, I didn't start with genre in mind! I think that's what sets Centralia apart from other entries in the realm of cyberpunk, where many creators start with a vast library of cyberpunk media to reference from, and build the world and story from there. While many great works can be inspired by existing media, pulling from the same major popular staples in the genre can cause cyberpunk stories to feel a little... samey. I also couldn't help noticing that the "marginalized protagonist" often did not resemble the actual marginalized people in our society. When the majority of cyberpunk creators are statistically white, male, and straight, the diversity of stories begins to dwindle, and as a female creator who is deeply involved in queer spaces, I find myself repeatedly alienated. The aggressive, solitary and violent nature of subcultures in cyberpunk stories did not reflect my lived experiences in subculture spaces. In Centralia, I wanted to focus on the persistence of community in an oppressive society, not its destruction, which brings me to the comic's core theme...
The Beauty of Human Connection
When I began working on Centralia, I was lonely. Social media was still a fairly new thing-- while it helped me keep in touch with high school friends who'd scattered to the wind, as well as new college friends who I worried might find me too weird, it felt shallow. I don't vibe with hyperbolic depictions of people chained to their tablets, or living in their smart phones like tiny literal prisons; I grew up on the early internet and formed many friendships on obscure message boards and artist hubs like DeviantArt. But the old, weird internet feels increasingly distant, and today's social landscape is dominated by corporate interests that would rather keep us frustrated. Lacking. Wanting. All culminating into a persistent sentiment I see among my friends and strangers both on and off the internet, in statistical reports and think pieces in droves-- we're lonely.
Tumblr media
When Midori arrives in the city of Centralia, she's alone, too. Thrust into a crowd of indifferent strangers, she feels invisible. Desperate for belonging, she sets off in search of a mysterious missing girl who may hold the key to her past, and perhaps to a family waiting for her. But unlike your usual cyberpunk protagonist, Midori is optimistic and friendly. She's fierce and spirited, but she's not cynical.
Her newfound friend Grey, on the other hand, is fluent in the language of isolation and secrecy that pervades Centralia-- keep your head down, don't make waves. But beneath the carefully-crafted veneer of a black-clad, chain-smoking, motorcycle-riding tough guy, he's as awkward and lost as the rest of us. Completely unaffected by his grumpy demeanor, Midori forms an unlikely friendship that becomes a core piece of Centralia's story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A cyberpunk story isn't complete without an underground resistance, and Centralia's Switch is yet another example of the power of community. Here, the marginalized members of society gather not only as a rebellion, but as a found family.
Tumblr media
This too is where Centralia is special-- many cyberpunk stories paint the underside of society as grimy, cruel, where it's "every man for himself". But as someone who moves through many subculture and queer communities and is more at home with the weirdos than polite society, I find these stories miss the communal spirit of marginalized spaces.
Tumblr media
Throughout Midori's search for belonging, her developing friendship with Grey, and her involvement with Switch, Centralia 2050 shows us that the warmth of human connection survives even in the stark chill of dystopian society.
The Inspirations
Lots of readers are curious about the inspirations for Centralia. Visually, I'm inspired by a lot of the cyberpunk staples I mention before, as well as my experience living in cities. I'm a huge fan of the works of Satoshi Kon, creator of incredible animated works like Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers, Millenium Actress, Perfect Blue, and Paranoia Agent. Kon's unique style so beautifully captures his character's expressions, both subtle and exaggerated, in a way that feels undeniably human. His stories capture the interpersonal and internal conflicts of characters in a way that feels genuine, and have been a great influence on how I portray the characters of Centralia.
I'm also a huge fan of psychological horror, especially survival horror games of the '90s and 2000's. While Centralia isn't a horror story, surreal moments and otherworldly vibes can't help but sneak in from time to time!
Tumblr media
Most of all, I'm inspired by my own experiences and the lives of people around me. I love reading autobiographical novels and comics, listening to people tell their stories on podcasts, and just hearing about, well people! I think that's what helps me give dimension to the characters of Centralia. I'm less inspired by characters from other stories, and more so inspired by the complexity, diversity, cruelty, beauty and indomitable spirit of my fellow humans.
And I think that about covers it for now! For my next Kickstarter blog post, I'll be diving into each of the main characters of Centralia; whether you're a longtime reader or new to the series, it should be a fun read! Until then, I'd love to hear your thoughts about the inspiration and themes behind Centralia, and if you have any topics you'd like me to explore in future blog posts!
Til then,
~Michelle

Crowdsourcing: not a new concept
Tumblr media
what is crowdsourcing?
By using the Internet, social media, and smartphone apps, a huge number of individuals can contribute their work, information, or opinions through a process known as crowdsourcing.
While some crowdsourcing participants carry out menial jobs willingly, others work as paid freelancers. For instance, in order to give app users access to up-to-date, real-time information, traffic applications such as Waze incentivize drivers to self-report accidents and other traffic occurrences. (Hargrave, 2022) Crowdsourcing is a collaborative approach that involves sourcing information, ideas, or services from a wide and diverse group of individuals, known as the "crowd." This decentralized method relies on the collective intelligence and varied expertise of contributors, often facilitated through online platforms. Crowdsourcing is characterized by an open call for participation, inviting individuals to provide solutions, ideas, or content to address specific challenges or tasks.
Tumblr media
Crowdsourcing in crisis
Amid the global, ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, among the tireless work of health care workers, policy makers, and government officials across various nations, there is another player with “skin in the game” if you will—crowdsourcing projects. Crowdsourcing is a model whereby individuals or organizations obtain goods and services, including ideas, from a large, relatively open community of digital media, Internet users, and an entire array of diverse stakeholders sharing a common interest from a range of perspectives and experiences.1 Although crowdsourcing originated long before the advent of digital age, in the current era of social media and other digital outlets, crowdsourcing has become a fairly commonplace solution. (Desai, 2020) Crowdsourcing in health and medical mostly started in the bioinformatics and technology fields about 2010. Its broad usefulness in disaster crisis management has, however, mostly gone unutilized. We address the ongoing and present uses of crowdsourcing in the COVID-19 era from this point of view. The COVID-19 pandemic, which has infected > 5 million people worldwide and caused > 330,000 deaths at the time of this writing, is no less than a disaster crisis, albeit biological. A disaster life cycle consists of the steps taken in planning for and responding to a particular disaster (Fig 1). This disaster cycle is used throughout the emergency management community, from the local to the national and international levels. We saw similar disaster mitigation (social distancing), preparedness (quarantine restrictions), response (masking), and recovery efforts during the 1918-1920 seasonal H1N1 flu pandemic. (Kuderer, 2020)
Community for creatives
Crowdsourcing funding for projects, businesses, and causes is expected to grow to be a $300 billion industry in the near future, according to estimations made by the crowdfunding trends blog Fundly. In 2017, Stanford University student Nicholas Benavides, the creator of the Blue Ocean Entrepreneurship Competition for Students, conducted an analysis of over 2,000 Kickstarter project data to identify the elements of a successful crowdfunding campaign. Benavides surveying the terms used in a campaign's title and blurb using the Kaggle Kickstarter dataset developed a model that could predict a campaign's success with 75% accuracy. (Sickler, 2020) Among his major findings was that the most common words–game, new, design, world–appeared equally in both funded and unfunded campaigns. The major point of differentiation was not in word choice but between those categories inherently more social in nature, such as Comics, Dance, Music, Theater and Design, and solo practices like Craft and Journalism. Social categories were simply a more natural fit for the success criteria of crowdfunding.
Role of crowdsourcing in Web3
Crowdsourcing in Web3 refers to the decentralised process of obtaining goods or services from a large, undefined group of people via the internet, rather than from traditional employees or suppliers. The role of crowdsourcing in Web3 is to empower individuals and communities to collaborate and contribute their skills, knowledge, and resources to create and maintain decentralised applications and services that are more equitable, transparent, and secure. This can lead to increased innovation, collaboration, and democratisation in the development and deployment of new technologies, as well as in the creation of new forms of governance and value exchange. (Reffell, 2023)
Crowdsourcing in Web3 examples:-
DAOs: Decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs) are organisations that are run through rules encoded as computer programs on a blockchain network. DAOs are governed by their members, who vote on proposals and make decisions collectively. Examples of DAOs include MakerDAO and Aragon.
Prediction Markets: Prediction markets are decentralised platforms that allow users to make predictions on the outcome of events and earn rewards for accurate predictions. Examples of prediction markets include Augur and Gnosis
Decentralised Exchanges (DEXs): Decentralised exchanges are platforms for trading cryptocurrencies and tokens without the need for a central authority or intermediaries. Examples of DEXs include Uniswap and Curve.
Decentralised Identity Systems: Decentralised identity systems are platforms that allow users to control and manage their personal information and data, rather than relying on central authorities or intermediaries. Examples of decentralised identity systems include Sovrin and uPort.
In conclusion, by utilising the combined knowledge of many participants, crowdsourcing has the potential to revolutionise creativity and problem-solving. Its capacity to combine a variety of viewpoints and abilities not only encourages innovation but also offers an economical way to address difficult problems. Its attractiveness stems from the speed at which solutions are generated and the active participation of communities, which fosters the growth of unorthodox ideas. But obstacles like upholding quality control and handling moral issues like equitable recompense and privacy issues highlight the necessity of cautious execution. With the integration of intelligent algorithms and automation in technology, crowdsourcing looks to have a bright future ahead of it, providing even more effective and significant collaboration in a variety of disciplines.

Welcome to the official Tales of Seriel Tumblr!
Tales of Seriel is an independent comic being written by the artist @yourdigitalaquarium and their collaborators. It is a fantasy project that has been worked on for three years now- Its captivating and complex story will enthrall you, with plots about redemption or the active avoidance of it, with the world's rich lore, and the cast of diverse and dynamic characters (whom we'll soon publish a presentation of!).
We've been working on this project for so long we can barely hold our excitement as we announce that we will soon activate our Kickstarter page to manage to actually finish it, but we need to make our social media presence stronger if we wish to do so- so we've made this page.
Hope you'll enjoy your stay! If you have any questions about the project, please ask.
