It remained independent for more than 600 years, until it was sold to the House of Savoy—a transaction that was not registered.⁣ ⁣ This error was subsequently compounded: when the great powers of Europe settled the continent’s boundaries at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Seborga was not mentioned.⁣ ⁣ When the many small states on the Italian peninsula were unified to form Italy in 1861, Seborga was not mentioned.⁣ ⁣ In 1946, after the last Savoy king abdicated and Italy became a republic—again, Seborga was not mentioned.⁣ ⁣ Italian government refuses to recognise the Principality of Seborga, insisting its citizens still pay their taxes to the authorities in Rome.⁣ ⁣ This they do, but it doesn’t detract from their feeling of group identity. Rain, rain and more rain, here today! ☔💦 Digging back into my archives for one of my few snowy scenes, I don't have very many as I've said before, as we don't get much snow here. This is one from early January a couple of years ago, taken on one of my favourite local towpath walks along the Stratford-upon-Avon canal. There are a few locks close together along this stretch and a pretty cast iron bridge, leading to this quaint cottage. It's a lovely stroll, any time of the year, but especially lovely when there's been a dusting of snow! ❄️🏡🌨️ Further along the towpath is a lovely little canal side shop, which sells the most delicious homemade cakes, baked fresh everyday, always a treat and a definite stop along the way! JAHRHUNDERT 1611 Das heutige Museum, 1541 als Wohnhaus von Amtmann Bernhard von Hardheim erbaut, erhält durch Ambrosius Brösamer Erker, Stuckdecken und steinerne Wendeltreppe. 1625 wird das Gebäude Amtskellerei. 1615-1629 Hexenprozesse in Miltenberg: 453 Personen geraten in den Verdacht der Hexerei, 69 werden hingerichtet. Das Mainzer Gebiet um Miltenberg gehört zu den Hauptverfolgungsgebieten des Hexenwahns. Frauen und Männer sind in gleicher Anzahl betroffen. Zu den Ursachen gehören die häufigen Ernteausfälle bei Wein und Getreide und der wirtschaftliche Neid. 1619 Miltenberg hat 560 Wohnhäuser und über 3.000 Einwohner. Von Weinbau und Weinhandel ernähren sich 112 Familien. 1618-1648 Im Dreißigjährigen Krieg erweist sich die günstige Verkehrslage als Nachteil: Ständige Truppendurchzüge und Kontributionen zerstören die wirtschaftliche Blüte der Stadt. Am Ende verteilt sich eine auf die Hälfte reduzierte Einwohnerschaft auf nur noch 300 Häuser. 1630 Der Franziskanerorden läßt sich in Miltenberg nieder. 1631-1634 Die Schweden unter Gustav Adolf bringen die Pest.   1640-1648 Die Stadt wird mehrmals geplündert, die Weinberge zerstört und der Wald abgeholzt. 1667 Bau des Franziskanerklosters am Engelplatz. Vom Weinbau ernähren sich nur noch 45 Familien, während der Ackerbau an Bedeutung gewinnt. Fischer und Schiffer werden bis ins 19.
