Following up on my last post, these are some of the model sheets I created for the final designs of the three main characters in Battletoads. For the uninitiated, model sheets are used to insure all of the animators understand the design and construction of the characters and are able to draw them consistently no matter what the characters are doing or what angle we are viewing them from.

Nous sommes ravis de travailler avec Dlala Studios, qui enrichit le monde de Mickey et ses amis avec un nouveau scénario original, un gameplay captivant et un style artistique fantastique dessiné à la main. Rejoignez Mickey, Minnie, Donald et Dingo et lancez-vous dans une quête périlleuse pour explorer l’île colorée et mystérieuse de Monos pour récupérer trois Tomes magiques, des livres puissants utilisés pour protéger l’île. Avec les voix de Mickey, Minnie, Donald et Dingo et une musique orchestrale originale, les joueurs peuvent se plonger dans une aventure solo ou faire équipe avec jusqu’à trois amis et utiliser des techniques uniques comme dérouler une corde pour aider leurs amis à les rejoindre, jouer à saute-mouton pour couvrir plus de distance, ou augmenter leur santé en se prenant dans les bras. Découvrez des biomes riches et des environnements inédits, rencontrez des personnages étranges mais intrigants et une multitude de secrets cachés ! A few years ago the folks at Dlala Studios hired me to do some character design on their new Battletoads game. One of my favorite parts of the character design process is the initial exploration phase where you just sort of let it fly and see what comes out. I’ll often do 50 to 100 quick designs at this point to get the gears turning and the juices flowing. I find this useful because after the first 20 designs or so I get past the obvious solutions and start thinking more outside the box. These are a few examples from my first pass at designing the new Battletoads. None of these ever made it into the game, but they did help inform various elements of the final designs.
