got my dad into good omens, now trying to get him into doctor who (naturally), which has (ofc) led to the rabbit hole of going back through old fandom bookmarks, tags, etc and I’ve come to two realizations:
1. jfc were my standards for fandom bullshit LOW a decade ago.
2. I still desperately love the idea of ‘Rose makes it through Doomsday/Rose in s3 and beyond’ fic and am beyond disappointed in my current fic options for that premise.
which (naturally) has led me to think about how I’d do that sort of fic, which is terrible because I’d love to read it but am absolutely not writing it.

How I would rewrite Miraculous.
So, a few years ago, I used to watch this neat little show that's been on a number of networks. You may have heard of it, but it's called "Miraculous Ladybug". Yeah, it's a cartoon that I thought was good... for about two seasons. Then as I watched Season 3, things didn't seem to sit right with me... But in short, I feel like the show is NOTORIOUS for being how all over the place it is. A total mess, and I'm so flipping glad I don't watch it anymore.
Although, my curiosity does peak from time to time, just to see what other disaster may have made this show flop. I shared some of this with @fabuloustrash05, but this is how I would rewrite the ENTIRE SERIES. And friendly reminder, I have not seen an entire episode of Season 4 or either Miraculous World special, so for the most part, anything that happened in past the first couple eps of Season 3 WON'T be mentioned here.
We all know that a movie is coming out soon, but it seems like it's the origin story that we got to see during Season 1. Now I don't know what would happen, but I feel like the origin story should be kept the same. Only thing is that I would make it the SERIES PREMIERE rather than the SEASON 1 FINALE. That will be saved for "Volpina" with an after credits scene that will reveal/confirm to the audience that Gabriel is Hawk Moth, which I felt was obvious after an episode or two in. For the most part, Season 1 will remain untouched by my hand.
Season 2 would be left alone too. There were some pretty decent things happening, like some progress on our leads' relationship, and not to mention, CHLOE'S REDEMPTION ARC THAT WAS RIPPED OUT OF HER HANDS. But more on the latter in a bit.
The only things I'd leave alone for Season 3 are the following:
The episodes "Chameleon", "Weredad", "Feast", "Backwarder", "Silencer", and "Miraculer"
Lila's character arc of trying to sabotage Marinette and her working with Gabriel/Hawk Moth (including trying to get her expelled like in "Ladybug")
Natalie's illness from the Peacock Miraculous
The Miraculous Swap between Adrien and Marinette
Chloe finding out that Marinette likes Adrien but not telling anyone about it
Sabine and Marinette ALMOST getting akumatized
Alec Cataldi, Master Fu and Bob Roth getting akumatized (I know that I said whatever happens in s4 is non-existent but the premise of those three getting akumatized is actually good)
Kagami and Marinette becoming friends (socially awkward characters trying to befriend extroverts are the best okay?!)
More background history on Master Fu
The revelation that the "future Hawk Moth" will not be Gabriel
And now onto the changes for Season 3:
Legitimate development between Marinette and Adrien's relationship, which would be on the verge of a blossoming romance
The well-deserved redemption arc of Chloe. While still maintaining a "Queen Bee" personality, she would be one of those "rich girls with a secret heart of gold" (think Cleo de Nile from the OG Monster High series)
Some growing tension/strain between Gabriel and Adrien
Actual development for characters that appeared in only one episode when they were akumatized (Marc, Ondine, Marianne, etc.)
Anything that made the characters themselves look terrible (like Marinette's sudden mean/stalker-like behavior) will be completely discarded
Adrien interacting with the Guardian/Master Fu and learning more of the Miraculous like with Marinette
Lila being RIGHTFULLY punished for all the lies she stirred throughout the three seasons
Costume upgrades (especially for Marinette)
The season finale itself (just below)
The s3 finale was one of the biggest disappointments in animation ever. So, to make up for it, here's my vision of what would happen INSTEAD (on top of what I'd keep/change). I also haven't decided if this would be when Marinette and Adrien find out of the other's superhero identity here, but I want that to be the case by the end of the series (without any disastrous consequences).
It would be similar to the big fight during s2, but with more Mayura and Lila. The five Heroes (Ladybug, Cat Noir, Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee) all in action to save Paris and defeat Hawk Moth once and for all. They are successful in doing so. The cause? Gabriel's own weakness of seeing Adrien in any danger in his pursue to get the Miraculous needed (like in "Style Queen"). He would also come to learn that he too fell victim to Lila's lies after he considered what Marinette has done for Adrien. After the defeat and reveal, the Butterfly Miraculous would disappear (in an after credits scene, Lila would find the Miraculous and become the next "Hawk Moth"). On top of what caused his defeat, Natalie would become very ill from the Peacock Miraculous, and with that, we would finally find out what happened to Adrien's Mom and the wish Gabriel wants to make (to revive his wife).
Lastly, we would have Season 4 (which may or may not be the last season, but I don't want the series to drag on like it's doing now). For the most part, the season would focus on trying to track down the Butterfly Miraculous/the actual threat of Lila, a Gabriel redemption arc (trying to make amends with Adrien, heal Natalie, fix the Peacock Miraculous, and revive Emilie), Marinette and Adrien finally admitting to their feelings and becoming a couple by the end of the series (or sooner).
I don't usually make long posts like this, but I wanted to get this out there as my personal vision from a former fan of this series. You probably won't see any more ML posts on my blog unless it's real good salt.

Note
what would you do with the characters you don't like if you had power over glee? would you completely get rid of them, replace them or rewrite them to be something different?
I mean the mean part of me wants to say I would just scrap Brittany completely bc she didn't amount to anything in the end asjdfhlfsk BUT if I'm trying to be creative then no, that's too easy. With Brittany, there are two ways I could play it
1) She actually is quite clever but puts on the typical ditzy cheerleader act for funsies. To make sure Quinn knows she isn't a blonde rival threat lol. To mess with guys who think they can take advantage of her. Mostly for her own amusement, to see the looks on people's faces whenever she says something "dumb". But she drops the act midway thru s2 (when they quit the cheerios) and we get to see her for who she really is. Sharp and blunt at the same time, with a sardonic and dry wit that sometimes goes over people's heads. But she's dropped the dumbass act to be a lil smart ass
"How do you know my dim-witted inexperience isn't merely a subtle form of manipulation used to lower people's expectations thereby enhancing my ability to effectively maneuver within any given situation?"
2) She is kind of a ditz but she actually has the emotional intelligence that people claim she has. But the good "Go back in there and be there for Kurt", "family is a place where everyone loves you no matter what" kind, not the "you have to actually eat the chocolate bar or it will melt and look like you have poop in your hand". Basically Brittany talking about poop or toilets or anything in that same vein is strictly forbidden. She's not great in school, makes C's and D's in her main classes. But has creative electives like art, photography, creative writing, etc and does amazingly in those classes. She has her own unique way of looking at things and offers her own unique wisdom to help put things in perspective from time to time
Either way, she is never a complete fucking bonehead turned math genius bc that is fucking awful. And maybe you could even add in the actual autism angle bc like. Doesn't understand social cues, takes things too literally, etc. And either way she would graduate in s3 and get out of my face. So that's what I'd do with Brittany
Finn is easier but also harder bc this is such a gargantuan task and deviation from canon but. Have him actually be more like the person we're told he is. You TELL me he is this amazing uniter of cliques, kind hearted, perfect blend of a jock and show choir god, ushering the school into a new age of togetherness. You SHOW me he is a lil bitch who runs away from the club at the slightest difficulty, drops slurs and outs people on the reg, wants to be the leader without putting in the work, and is kind of a ball hog who actually sucks at football and isn't that great a singer. What's not clicking
Obviously Finn doesn't have to be perfect. He can have issues and uncertainties. But holy shit maybe have one issue once or twice. Doing this same bullshit half a dozen times and never learning a lesson makes me hate him!!!! Idk man just make him less of a fucking asshole
And don't fucking act like he ascended to sainthood when he died. I'm sorry but that bullshit about like "Finn wanted Sam in the club bc he was looking for someone to take over his legacy when he was gone" like shut the fuck up that actually sounds insane. Don't fucking do that. Finn is just a dude. Just make him be a kind of chill and cool dude with his heart in the right place but he slips up and makes mistakes bc he's still human. He doesn't use slurs or out anyone. He isn't constantly beating people up. He doesn't attack a sex worker, thanks. Maybe don't make him a serial cheater either, that would be nice
As for Sebastian, yeah, no, you can scrap him completely. He isn't interesting or fun and it actually drives me insane that he's the fifth most popular character on ao3. You can have your own preferences, you can like a little rich bitch bratty bad boy villain wannabe. But knowing that that many people are so far up his butt makes me wanna scream lol
Shelby, I would change her plotline by having her end up in jail. That would be a nice arc for her character
Will, I would change him by having him be a decent teacher. Broke: himbo Finn. Woke: himbo Will. He's kind and tries his best but he is shockingly dumb. Doesn't realize his wife isn't really pregnant for like five months?? The pieces are there. He sometimes lets himself be bulldozed in his own classroom but when other students talk, he listens. Takes their suggestions, actually shines a light on everyone, helps them improve and lets everyone have their moment in the spotlight. In the end everyone loves him and when he wins teacher of the year, it doesn't feel like a hollow bullshit contrivance
Sue. Either make her drop the villain shtick by about s3, or get rid of her entirely. Talk about going around in circles. I really think she was the worst of it. It got sooo old and boring and it was the same thing for six seasons. So have her be an ally to the club come s3, after her sister's funeral bc that makes sense. Or just write her off. Idc how
Don't ever let Rory set fucking foot on this show. Sorry to the actor but that character was partially responsible for why s3 went down the fucking shitter. He was terrible, and having to write plots about being Irish made early s3 a fucking joke
Oh and I would magically make it so that the viewers of the show have some common fucking sense. And if a character is being racist or a bigot or just a general cunt, there wouldn't be 2395890 compilation videos on youtube praising them for being brutally honest or sassy or hilarious or what have you. :) You know, if I had THAT kind of power
So yeah those are my thoughts. Took me a while to answer but I appreciate the ask!

Fic Writer Game
I was not technically tagged by @firstaudrina but I’m blaming her anyways
YAY
?
tagging: uh... anyone who hasn’t done this yet? @alxndrlightwoods, @beamirang @elfyourmother @gingersnapwolves @janoda (I randomly picked letters and let tumblr mention people on its own, PLEASe don’t take this too seriously... 🙃😅) PLEASE DO THIS IF YOU’RE REMOTELY SO INCLINED, even if I haven’t tagged you, AND THEN BLAME ME, I love seeing these things.
Fandoms: BioWare, historically, a pretty even mix in my head of Dragon Age & Mass Effect but clearly I mostly managed to write for DA2. Currently, mostly Shadowhunters, though I’m working on an Inception crossover and I dabble in a lot of things... mostly still video games tho, there’s just something about the framework of a good RPG protagonist just waiting to be filled in. #7kpp and Code: Realize and Cinders! Some day maybe I’ll finally do something with Jade Empire since it’s my favorite...
I write a lot of random prompt-fills & yuletide randomness, just a few little stories for fandoms I never really got lost it but still enjoy, like a Georgette Heyer regency epilogue and a Firefly/Serenity thing because I will apparently never be over Zoe/Wash ever.
Number of fics: A lot of my fic is ficlet collections, so I’m not sure how you want to count this, (and I’ve lost a decent number of things over the years too, whoops), especially since a couple of my “fics” on AO3 are actually fanmixes that I put on there so they’d link properly to the fics they accompany, and there’s a collab that’s not just me, but uh... depending on the math, anywhere from 145 to 500-ish? (AO3 says I have 152 published.)
Fic I spent more time on: I start a lot of fic and then may literally let it lay dormant for years... I’m not necessarily working on it all that time though. SO uh. Cruel Intentions sat for five years between the kink-meme prompt that started it all and me finally writing a conclusion? *shrugs* IDK.
Fic I spent less time on: A lot of the ficlets are just sort of dashed off whenever I managed to get inspiration. In terms of a proper fic I’d have to say Impossible kind of wrote itself in one or two sittings. (priest!kink is clearly something I should indulge in more often 😅)
Longest fic: The 3-Shepards Collab (on borderline permanent hiatus? we may get back to it some day) Persephone Rising at almost 200k words. In terms of “I actually wrote the whole damn thing” we’ve got Lost for Words at just over 62k. (Yay Mass Effect?)
Shortest: erm. I write a lot of like, 3sentence prompt fic and everything? But in terms of: stands alone as posted, it is apparently... Fools, about Brosca & Leske in DA:O. 😭
Most hits/Most kudos/Most bookmarks: ALL FOR i am for you  (14871, 868, and 282, respectively)
In second place for hits is I like the thrill of under me you (because porn usually does get more hits and less of everything else), for kudos & bookmarks it’s two are halves of one. Because SH fandom likes fluff to counteract the melodrama of canon? Only maybe not since next is the one where I kill Alec and everyone’s sad... SH fandom likes fluff and Magnus whump disguised as torturing Alec? We’re apparently all terrible people.
Total words combined: published, I have 1,088,995 words on AO3!
Which obviously doesn’t count all the bits and bobs that never made it there and all the WIPs that I’m trying to finish before I start posting again. I don’t have the faintest idea how to figure that number out tho 😅
Fic you want to rewrite or expand: Generally, if it made it to AO3 I at least enjoyed writing it, and even if I wouldn’t write it the same way now, I had fun then, so I seldom re-do things. (With a notable exception of the one introducing Theia Hawke (and killing her) which I rewrote to have less sex and more manipulation to fit all the stuff I wrote later... and retitled to fit all the rest of it better, too. I didn’t think she’d get so much fic when I started with her dying. Shows what I know.)
That said! If we’re expanding, I would really like to write sequels/continuations to several things, most notably Regency/Persuasion Malec, mer!alec, The Forest That (sometimes) Eats People (but is mostly very nice once you get to know it) & how do you recover from dying aka the s3 canon divergence fic for Shadowhunters.
Fav fic you wrote: erm. That’s an impossible question, and I’d give you a different answer almost every day.
Today uh... warm as silk because the #7kpp discord was talking about Code: Realize yesterday, and it’s very soft and pretty and I almost didn’t write it but then I finally managed it, and that’s always an excellent feeling.
Share a bit of your WIP or idea if you have anything planned: I have like 14 which one should I share?
SOME DAY
I may actually post some more of that top hits/kudos/bookmarks/comments fic i am for you with a Catarina POV chapter:
Alec Lightwood is a revelation.
She's seen Magnus fall too hard and too fast before, but she's never seen him like this, never seen him look lighter for it rather than just more intense, never seen the person he'd fallen for look just as far gone just as fast. Alec's expression when he looks at Magnus is sublime, it's like he's smiling all the way to his fingertips, and she has to look away.
OR, I may even finish that one lingering DA2 WIP from a million years ago...
Adelaide woke, held in place by the comforting weight of Sebastian's arm draped over her. She kept her eyes closed and breathed in the faint whisper of incense that never quite faded from his skin and hair, and settled herself just the tiniest bit closer, felt his arm tighten a little, even in his sleep, to keep her there.
aaaaand, it just gets sappier from there 🤣

Cronan and Sophie: Post-Kidnapping Dynamic Analysis
Requested by @le-mlp-nerd
In order to get into this, I’m going to backtrack into how I’d have handled their dynamic during the incident, because currently there’s not much information to go off of from either the Webisodes or the Netflix iteration.
To start, I’d make the hostility on Cronan’s end more directed towards Emily, as she’s the primary target. Sophie was just the “last resort” and in the wrong place at the wrong time. If Sophie didn’t follow Emily into Elvendale, S3 wouldn’t have happened at all.
This is delving into sort of spoilery content for the Rewrite the Magic project, but Cronan had been keeping tabs on Emily, trying to bring her to him in the background throughout S2, but she’d either not notice, or know something was going down and not bite. (More on that will come in the RtM S1 finale).
Cronan, even under possession from the amulet, really did not want to involve anyone other than Emily and getting the portal key. But he knew that Emily was too smart to be tricked into coming to him just for material possessions or human-natured curiosity. So when he saw Sophie and just how protective Emily was of her, he saw a chance to force Emily’s hand. This considerably raises tensions between him and Emily during the event.
On Sophie’s end however, he’s much kinder. He’s not as snappy at her, has the Goblins bring her food, doesn’t allow the Shadow to get near enough to scare her. Of course he gets annoyed, but humors her questions to keep her quiet.
“If I could have done this without getting an innocent party involved, I would. But your sister is far more intelligent than I anticipated. She’ll only come for you.”
“Well why didn’t you take her amulet when you were with us? You were in the same room!”
“Then it would have been me against four decently powerful elves and one already angry fourthling. Even without the other four, Emily proved herself a struggle. I have the bruised ribs from our fight on the airship to prove it.”
Cronan played the smarter game. This was between him, and Emily, trying to cause as little collateral as possible.
Skipping ahead to after banishing the Shadow creature and going home. Sophie’s visits are infrequent because she doesn’t have as much freedom to do as she wants than Emily has, and visits are mostly dictated by Emily anyways. But when Sophie does come to Elvendale, Cronan is the first person she asks to visit.
On Sophie’s end, plenty of time has passed, and she harbors no ill will towards Cronan anymore. She (in all her pre-teen grace) makes attempts to get to know Cronan and banter with him.
Cronan however, is taken aback at how “quickly” the Jones girls get over the whole ordeal. He stiffens up whenever Sophie makes jokes about the whole cage thing, stays silent when Emily quickly tells her off, and is just a little awkward around the both of them. He is very conscious about his actions, and chooses his words carefully. In a way, he’s also become the most protective of his younger cousins out of anyone in the extended Elvensquad. But still hesitant to get close (Emily let it slip how long humans live on average). Eventually (after a few months), Sophie manages to make Cronan more comfortable around them and they have a more sibling-like dynamic.
Even though Emily and Sophie can wear him out easily with their very “human” way of interacting, he learns to loosen up and play along. (But still very much plays the older brother role with them).
Tl;Dr: Sophie and Cronan dynamic starts off as a learning experience for Cronan, quickly becomes a more sibling-like dynamic once everyone is more comfortable with each other.
