It had been a year since the two of you broke up. Yet it still hurts him everyday. Somehow, he's always so good at hiding his emotions. He knew that was one of things you tried to help him with. But as always, he pushed you away.

"Hey, Lt. Did you see Y/n walk in?" Soap asked him as he took a seat next to the masked man in the empty booth in the bar they were in.

Another successful mission meant a celebration in a bar nearby. However, they were back at one of the bases they were staying in. The same one you were working in.

Ghost looked over to see you sitting at a table with a few friends as you all chatted with one another.

The song on the modern jukebox played that one Taylor Swift song that you had loved and deemed it as your couple song when you both were together. Ghost felt his stomach drop a little as you made eye contact with him.

It all just sounds like ooh, ooh, ooh, hoo Mm, too young, too dumb to realize That I should have bought you flowers And held your hand Should have gave you all my hours When I had the chance Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance

Ghost couldn't decide whether or not to go up to you as you waited at the bar with one of your friends for drinks.

"You going to go talk to her?" Soap asked his lieutenant.

"No," Ghost told him as he continued to stare at you.

You brought your drinks back to your table before taking the shots with you fellow girlfriends.

Ghost watched as you and your friends sing along to the song currently playing. Not a moment later, a man walked over towards you before sitting next to you on an empty seat next to you. Ghost watched as the man wrapped his arms around your shoulders. You smiled up at the man before giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.

Ghost frowned under his mask as he watched you kiss the man on the lips before walking over to the bar to get another drink.

"Simon, please talk to me!" You begged.

"What is there to talk about?" Ghost asked you.

"You've been so distant ever since you came back. What happened?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"Because I care for you! And shutting people out isn't good," you explained.

"You don't care about me," Ghost told you.

"Yes I do! Simon, please. Talk to me. I'm here for you," you tell him as you took a couple steps closer to him.

"You'll never understand what it's like out there. You're just a medic. You only get to see us hurt, patch us up, and send us our way to get hurt once more," Ghost told you.

"I hate seeing you hurt," you tell him. You let out a sigh before crossing your arms.

"I'm tired of this, Simon. You keep pushing me away and I don't know what to do anymore. I'm going to walk out that door and if you don't run after me in the next ten seconds, we're done," you said.

Ghost didn't say anything as you walked out the door. He debated whether or not he should run after you. But because he was too stubborn, he didn't bother to move. He could hear you sob from the other side of the door after the ten seconds.

Although it hurts I'll be the first to say that I was wrong Oh, I know I'm probably much too late To try and apologize for my mistakes But I just want you to know

"Hi, Simon," you greeted.

Ghost snapped out of his thoughts to see you standing by his booth.

"Hi, Y/n."

"Can I sit with you for a moment?" You asked.

"Of course."

You sat across from him before sliding over a glass of whiskey to him.

"How have you been?" You asked.

"Been better. How are you?" Ghost asked you.

"Good. I saw you earlier and wanted to say hi for a moment," you tell him.

"See that you got yourself someone new," Ghost said.

"Will? Yeah. He's a great guy," you tell him.

"Does he buy you flowers?" Ghost asked you.

"My favorite kind."

"Holds your hand?"

"Sometimes our hands cramp up a little from so much hand holding."

"Does he spend his free time with you?"

"Every chance he gets."

Ghost nodded as he leaned back against the booth. You stared at him, hoping that he would say more.

"I know I'm too late on this. But I want to apologize. I'm glad you found someone who will treat you better than I did," Ghost tells you.

"Do you have anyone at the moment?" You asked.

"No. Haven't been with anyone since you," Ghost told you. You nodded before looking over at your boyfriend. You looked back at Ghost with a small smile.

"I hope you find someone, Simon. You deserve it," you tell him before getting out from the booth and heading back to your group.

Ghost watched as your boyfriend held your hand as he led you out of the bar. He watched as you looked back to see him one more time before walking out the door.

Ghost took out the small polaroid from his pocket to see the picture of you he had taken one time when you were both were out in the woods, talking about what you wanted in your futures.

If only he had chased after you that night. If only he told you how scared he felt to be in a relationship with you and how scared he was to lose you. If only he could've told you how much he loved you. But he wasn't yours anymore and you weren't his.

she goes back to her regular show, maybe she’s touring the album guts by olivia rodrigo, it’s very ragey and self reflective and looking back on a bad relationship with anger. fans are wild but confused because is she saying she’s in love but she’s literally performing vampire and saying some dude is a blood sucker, fame fucker, etc

it’s almost midnight, she’s wrapping the show up, it’s final number, hasan has went over to where she’ll come off stage and is waiting for her

after the final bows, thank yous, etc etc, she’s leaving, she’s coming off stage and searching until finally she sees him and she just starts running 🥹🥹🥹

Her just being in the middle of the show touring the breakup album, and is like "wait hold up, so I have a song, and I know it clashes with the tour theme, but I really want to sing it tonight. Who knows when it'll be official released tho." And just goes for it with "Slut!"

Also Hasan, fear& their partners being at the concert!! Don't be you'll make me cry. I'm not even touching on Austin and her relationship, but I will say "beautiful and natural" becomes a regular thing she says.

Popstar!gf knows she not supposed to ran, jump, and kiss Hasan at the end of the show, especially not when she premiers Slut! but she can't help herself. Partly because Slut! got such a great reception from the audience, partly from post performance adrenaline, but mostly because she's never had someone wait for at the stage door after a performance and is just over come by her love and adoration for Hasan.

The entire time they're in their little bubble,they have the most love struck look on their faces, and during that time neither of them are letting go of eachother.

The next day, Hasan's stream is just full of chat asking so many questions and sending tiktok that people have made of the two of you with the audio of Slut! from the concert behind it. You wake up to much the same, but also lots of calls from you team.

But ya'know it's worth it for once.

I am a garbage raccon writer. Truly. I'll paint the picture, help you get to know Alex as I type this in my laptop that is holding on by a thread, or, as I say in portuguese, is already inside the beak of the vulture:

I sit crossed legged in the middle of my bed surrounded by at least five pillows that I stole from other rooms in the house because my back hurts. Still, I hunch over my delapitaded dell with twilight stickers as my $500 gaming chair that I bought to play stardew valley exclusively flips me. I speak in a language that is not my own with a name that is not my own and that I stole from a truly formative disney chanel show that I watched as a very easily manipulated pre-teen that thought that layering 32 shirts was the peak of fashion.

My brain is an echoing parakeet left in front of the tv that spews movie quotes and song lyrics and tiktok audios and pop culture references and a very potter musical trivia with no commas or semi colons and it all becomes a single cacophanous song and it is sang by lin manuel miranda. I type, as you can read, like John Mulaney just discovered Meg Cabot and decided that The Princess Diaries was the greates piece of literature ever - AND IT IS.

I have absolutely no sense of minimalism and I am Coco Chanel worst nightmare as i always add one more thing before I leave the house. I hate seafood. My biases' are always either the shortest, the beefiest or the dumbests. I don't understand the passage of time and sometimes i think that i updated my fics recently and it turns out it had been five months and my food is burning because I thought it was too early to take it out but it was not. I love getting messages but I am horrible at answering them because I have an issue with small tasks in which I cannot get them done. Ladybirds makes me cry but then again so does, like, Julie and the Phantom. I love taylor swift and I sometimes lay in bed and wonder if Yoongi would like me (would he though? would he really?). I treat every writable surface like it's my fucking diary and I get really sad that I cant pay for parents to stop working. Sometimes I think I am the funniest person alive and then I think that I don't get to decided that.

But then you guys say I'm funny too and then I gather all my garbage raccon treasures and I carry it with me as it culminates in my garbage raccon personality that i type it out hunched over my edward cullen decked dell and my back hurts a little less and the food i burned doesnt even taste that much like coal and I do think sometimes that Yoongi would like me even if I don't proofread anything or use comas.

light liking The Main Character by Will Wood is very in tune for him. im using the previous Will Wood ask to talk about him myself. overall, i almost prefer the albums he released under the tapeworms name.

im a newer fan for sure (thanks internet friends) but have quickly familiarized myself with his discography. the first song i listened to was Dr Sunshine is Dead. very akin to Noel's Lament from the musical Ride the Cyclone. am absolutely a sucker for theatrics and overdramatics so it was right up my alley.

my initial aversion to listening to Will Wood actually came from I/Me/Myself being a popular tiktok audio. in case i haven't voiced it here, i despise tiktok. it festers negativity. one might argue it is good for spreading activism movements but it is so overrun by misinformation that it loses this purpose. i base this on my personal experience on the app during 2020-2021. i deleted it after that. have only redownloaded it a few times after that to hunt down my old account and cringe at myself. (yes its still public, no you are not getting the @, if u try hard enough, u can find it). all of that to say, i don't like tiktok. thus when songs become popular on there, i used to actively avoid them. it still irritates me sometimes to play songs in the car that are fairly obscure and my friends will sing one random part and I will be like "oh you know (whatever band)?" and they reply "no i know it from tiktok". it has changed how the music scene operates as a whole. there are less localized music scenes and more short form content hoping to get a few lines that make it big on the socials. it makes me sad as a musician and as an artist in this era of over-digitized spread of music. but on the flip side, it does allow musicians to distribute so much easier to a much more vast audience. but there is less close connection with it. i have read books about the music scene of the early 2000s and it is an era we will unfortunately never repeat with the state of the internet.

your thoughts are certainly intriguing though. i see where you're coming from with the whole "festering negativity" bit. it's very... brainrot-y, and it's clearly had a large effect on the overall population. however, i will say that i think all social media platforms do this, and you simply have to learn to control your social media experience to use it in a beneficial way. though it is unfortunate that oftentimes people have to learn that the hard way.

i also very much agree that it's had a heavy effect on the music industry.. it's a bit sad to see, and i don't even consider myself a musician. the only reason i ever liked indulging with music scenes was because i liked observing the community. i've stopped doing it as much as of recent, mainly because it feels like there's less of a community to observe anymore. that can go for a lot of things, actually. everything just feels.. a little less authentic. it's disappointing. i try not to think about it.

despite all that, i don't think it's a crime to enjoy a popular song. simply enjoy the song because of its contents. said song being popular just means it gave you the opportunity to come across it. and who knows, maybe it can give you the opportunity to teach those tiktok friends who only know a section of the song how to appreciate it to its full extent. it doesn't have to be all bad.

i mean... i'll admit, i've taken a liking to taylor swift just today. not sure how i feel about it, but eh.. i couldn't care less. "Picture To Burn" is a fun song. i can't deny it.

Ooh. I do agree with your point that social media fosters negativity. There've been several really good books written on the subject, actually---social media radicalizes people who mightn't have access to reliable information (I think it's mentioned in How to Stand Up to A Dictator and Misbelief) and also makes people feel self-conscious about themselves, thinking that they have to be slimmer or taller or shorter or better-looking and the list goes on (I'm starting a book about it called Perfect, which mainly focuses on body image issues caused by social media in young girls/women).

However, social media also does have benefits, but like everything, only when it's used appropriately and in moderation. It allows employers to connect with employees and for information to get around the world much faster.

But then again, like you said, Tiktok encourages shorter attention spans in those who frequently use it. People only know part of a song because of Tiktok, not because they truly appreciate it in its entirety. This also encourages musicians to create shorter and shorter songs, which isn't exactly where the music industry should be going towards. However, this also has its benefits, like allowing small indie artists to share their work with a global audience and gain more following, so...

I suppose, at the end of the day, it all comes down to your personal preference. Everything is a double-edged sword, and the most important thing is how you choose to use it.

That being said, I guess don't let Tiktok affect you into avoiding popular songs. My view is, songs can be popular on Tiktok, but if you enjoy them, it isn't worth it to avoid them just because of that. I get what you mean, but that's my opinion.
