I noticed you mentioned amalgamates in the ask about goopy!Frisk
Does it mean that you consider Vess to being technically an amaglmate
Also while on the subject of amalgamates
What would Vess do if a piece of gaster was in an amalgamate
you know, i hadn't really thought of the concept of the vessel being an amalgamate before.
I don't really think so. Vess is kind of its own thing, not human or monster. Technically it's not even alive. It kind of just holds whatever's put in it.
But who knows maybe as it grows it might start to develop a personality separate from chara and gaster wink wonk
as for the second question, I think this is a problem Vess actually runs into a lot; right now, there are a LOT of G fragments that it doesn't have access too simply because its literally just not powerful enough. Like, you would be surprised how many fragments have ended up in, say, the Doodlesphere, though there's no way the guardian of the AUs is going to let in someone who goes around destroying universes, let alone for the sake of picking up fragments that give it power. Another place a lot of fragments have kind of just ended up in is Nightmare's castle, and that is absolutely a no go. Vess is not stupid enough to go into a den full of sanses jacked up on LV and a literal god of negativity.
To actually answer your question, I think Vess would probably first try to see if it could trick or bargain the amalgamate into giving up the fragment. If that proves to be impossible, it would probably leave some kind of mark or tracker on the creature holding the piece and make a mental note to come back later when it's more powerful. Vess is actually very patient when it wants to be

I don't know if I like Keeper the ruins or Gaster the ruins more. Can we have both headcanons?
The grand difference between Toriel and Gaster as caretakers is that Gaster lets his kids get away with a lot more. Give him a break though - he’s new at this whole parenting thing, and he isn’t even a parent! Here, he’s an older brother that’s put himself into the position of a parent.
He couldn’t just leave his little brothers behind and take the chance of Sans and Papyrus absorbing all that anti-human propaganda their parents were trying to feed them/force down their throats. Thus, this has led to the two younger brothers learning to manipulate Gaster just a little.
Staying up a bit (or a lot) later than they’re supposed to, begging and pleading for a few extra toys and succeeding, eating cereal for dinner and snacks for breakfast... Nothing absolutely insane; Gaster’s good at keeping them safe and making sure they have what they need, but when it comes to being stern with the brothers and Frisk... well, he just can’t.
Toriel, however, is an experienced mom and knows when to be soft and when to be strict. She can be fun, and she can slam the brakes on whatever zany scheme her kids are about to commit.
She’s good about seeing to it that all of them are eating properly and when they’re supposed to. No snacking in the middle of the night, and no cakes and other sweets first thing in the morning (unless it’s a special occasion). She and Sans end up butting heads sometimes, since although he does like to help her in the kitchen, he prefers the sweet and salty stuff over the leafy and green things.
But Toriel is excellent at bargaining with her kids, though. If there’s something they want, be it a toy or something else, instead of just shutting them down with a hard ‘no’, something she considers cruel, or just giving them what they want like Gaster, she gives them several opportunities to earn what they have their eye on.
Toriel knows when to be strict, but she’s also a reasonable authority figure who remembers what it was like to be a child.

UF Chara could be described as a "bargaining chip" at most as to when the Royal Family took her in. While we know what the UF Skelebros felt about this, we don't know about anyone else's thought process upon learning this. What were the thoughts of the Underground about their King and Queen after learning the truth?
Frisk found it difficult to believe that the friendly and helpful talking flower she had grown to love during her journey was the ruthless and cruel prince Asriel. For a while, she tries to think of them as two separate entities, and in a way,  they sort of are - present Asriel is a different person than past Asriel, but that still doesn’t erase the terrible things he had done so many years ago. Frisk is probably the first to forgive him completely, since she knows him better than anyone else. As for Toriel and Asgore, well, she politely declines their invitations to live with either of them. She knows they’re trying to change and that they love her and see her as a daughter, but it’s going to be a while before she’s fully convinced they can handle the responsibility of providing emotionally for another human.
Undyne, well, she’s as sickened as Papyrus, but she’s probably the first to forgive Asriel after his parents and Frisk. What scares her the most about it was, prior to meeting and befriending Frisk, she probably would have not only understood why Asriel did what he did, but actually stood by his actions, since she once loathed humanity as much as he did. And that actually terrifies her. She’s forgiven the king and queen as well, but sometimes she feels uncomfortable around them. Undyne wasn’t always the sturdy capable monster she is in the present; hearing how Chara was bullied for being weak makes her remember that she too was once like her - small and in need of protection, with no one to provide it. That’s why she decided to become stronger. Now Undyne wants to use her strength to save others, and it took meeting Chara to realize this.
Alphys, well… she prefers not to comment verbally on how she feels about the royal family now. Inwardly, she’s disgusted, because she knows exactly what it’s like to be taken advantage of, and for others to only want you around because of what you can do or provide for them. So she’s actually siding with Chara on this one, because she’s literally an innocent victim here. Alphys won’t deny that she’s done some terrible things, but she sees so much of her past self in Chara. Alphys tries to shape up as quickly as she can so the two can be friends; she wants to be the friend to Chara that Alphys always wanted for herself.
