every time i do something for myself that i used to think would be negatively frivolous i like to give myself a little pat on the back. sometimes literally, sometimes in the form of a pep talk, sometimes just really enjoying the thing that i did.

lately it was a knitting pattern for an adorable little frog. once upon a time i used to browse knitting and sewing patterns for hours on ravelry, pinterest etc... i would bookmark patterns so in the future, when i inevitably became more worthy of creating those things, i'd be able to remember what i wanted to make. it was an unreachable idea of worthiness. i had to be in control, know myself inside and out, be an effortless creator, describable as a value in the lives of all id meet. i still have so much fabric and yarn that i would imagine using to make those wonderful things in that future. it became overwhelming to look at those crafting supplies and wonder whether i'd ever reach that time.

i saw someone's pattern of a little knit frog (dotpebbles on Ravelry) and decided that i'd get the pattern and make a little froggy friend for myself. so i did, paid 3 pound for it, and I started to make the pal over the next few days as i watched the new matilda movie musical. now i have a small frog friend, and it felt really "binding" to make. binding in the way that white glue is to paper, pompoms, strings, and other childhood craft pieces.

so yes, go me for creating something again. go me, i did a thing and i enjoyed doing it. go me!
