Hello! I hope that you are doing well!

I just wanted to send you a question regarding the amount of power Rhea has in Fódlan since something came to my mind. You know how during Edelgard's coronation, she said to her father that, "The Archbishop of the Church of Seiros would normally act as witness, but my professor will fill that role instead"?

Unless I missed something [or am overthinking], do you believe that Rhea was even there to witness Ionius' coronation?

We were told in the game that it had been ages since a member of House Hresvelg enrolled into the Officers Academy as well as that there had recently been a rift between the Adrestian Empire and the Church of Seiros.

Therefore, to me at least, that implied that said rift had been going on for a while. And I do not see why they would allow her there if such a thing was going on. Yet, Rhea does not retaliate against this as far as I know. Then there is the fact that Edelgard is allowed to be coronated without Byleth's presence. The Southern Church was dismantled, too, so…I think it is safe to say that there was not an official to witness her from there as well. lol

To put it simply, it feels very contradictory to me and adds a crack into the "Rhea controls Fódlan" perspective.

I agree, that NPC going all "the empire and hthe church cut ties eons agao that's why supreme leader is the first imperial heir to attend since ages" suggests Rhea wasn't very welcomed in Enbarr.

FWIW the Nopes book about the Southern Church incident reveals the Emperor of that time already wanted to cut ties with the Central Church - and used this rebellion (which was more or less a Varley daughter wanting to have a role instead of letting her bother inherit everything?) as an excuse to finally give them the boot.

In a nutshell, I heavily doubt Rhea was around when Ionius was coronated, if her Church was already "not welcomed" by the time the Southern Church was disbanded.

The Archbishop acting as witness might be just some sort of old ceremonial thing, just like the "covenant of the red blood and the white sword", maybe all coronations try to renact the "oath" Wilhelm took/swore to Seiros when she presumably made him Emperor of Adrestia? And the Archbishop acts as a stand in for Seiros (even if we know better!) when the oath is sworn again by Willy's descendants?

As you pointed out, the Archbishop being present or not is merely decorum, since nowhere the game suggests that in the non-CF routes, Supreme Leader's coup coronation isn't regular or anything.

Rhea controlling Fodlan isn't backed up by canon, Adrestia has been doing its own thing for several centuries, the CoS only provides help (the game doesn't tell us what it is!) to Faerghus : Dimitri becomes King not because Rhea crowns or splashes oil on him, but because he is the Crown Prince and the last heir of the previous King. As for the Alliance, it does its own thing without her input!

And my final Big Project............... A performing arts school AU featuring @peachiehambo's Yoona and the Fodlan kids, in which they put on a performance of Wicked! I also don't want to draw keyboards again I MAY BE A KEYBOARDIST BUT THEY ARE SO FULL OF THINGS I DO NOT WANTTTT For the end credits, I did a quick (really quick sobs) instrumental arrangement of For Good on the vibraphone. Can you spot the one melody line I snuck in from the Fire Emblem Main Theme? Sitri and the Others

This topic was suggested to me by @dovehearts-blog! Feel free to suggest your own topics to me.

We're going to look at Byleth's mother, Sitri. Who was she? What was she like? Were there others like her?

Let's unpack!

Creation

I thought that I could regain all I had lost, if only I could revive my mother... And so I tried to bring her back by creating a body, and then burying a Crest Stone within it. A young woman I created...my twelfth try after much heartache...was a failure.

Rhea created twelve vessels in order to revive her mother. She did this by creating a (human) body, and embedding the Crest of Flames in it. All of these vessels were failures as they lacked the conscience of the goddess. And yet, the Crest of Flames would give life to the body. These vessels would come and go in the span of a thousand years. The twelfth one was called Sitri.

Life

Sitri grew up with a frail constituion and was unable to go outside the monastery because of that.

Still, people talked to her. Aelfric and Jeralt were two men who held romantic feelings for her. Sitri did not smile often, but she would always brighten up when Jeralt brought her flowers. The two of them fell in love over time, and Aelfric was willing to watch her walk away, if only she kept smiling.

Sitri and Jeralt wed, and she became pregnant in time. She was so happy during this time, but that joy would not last long.

Death

The childbirth was too much for her and the baby. Byleth was stillborn, and Sitri was in grave danger. Sitri pleaded with Rhea to save her baby.

"My heart... Give it to my child."

Doing nothing would have led to the death of both the mother and child, and so Rhea granted her final wish. It worked. The baby started breathing.

Sitri died, surrendering her life so Byleth's might begin.

Vessels

Sitri and Byleth's names are derived from demons mentioned in the Ars Goetia. Listed in order of sigil, you get:

Not all of these names are feminine-sounding. While it seems unlikely that Rhea would create male vessels for her mother, it is not outside the realm of possibility. She never raises any concern about Byleth possibly being male.

There is also the possibility that some names might've been slightered altered to sound more feminine if all the vessels were female.

Or the names could pass off as either gender. It really depends on how you view it.

Soul

One might wonder if the eleven vessels before Sitri had their own souls like she did. I lean towards yes. Rhea doesn't sacrifice lives to revive her mother; otherwise, she would've shanked the apostles and drained all their blood for the Rite of Rising.

I believe that did they have their own souls and that they lived as long as they could because Rhea didn't want to outright murder them. A thousand years divided by twelve gives you around 83 years for each vessel's lifespan. Of course, they were likely frail and had shorter lifespans than the average person, but that still gives each of them a relatively long life.

Nabatean..?

Sitri has green hair and green eyes like Nabateans, but we never see her ears, so who knows. Rhea does say in the Japanese version that she created a human body, but that might be a translation error on my part.

Hey guys. I know this blog has been inactive for a while, and I apologize for that. I promise that is is still very much alive and I hope to get it up and running again soon. The ask box will remain open as always, but I will be taking some more time before I start responding to asks or posting designs right away. Miss you guys.

More updates/details under the cut, but warning for illness and death mentions.

A couple years back, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I actually started this blog around that time as a sort of creative outlet, and posting designs and interacting with everyone really, truly helped in getting me through the early stages of coping with the news and the changes. I never expected the amount of support and kindness that this community had to offer and I am and will always be extremely grateful for that. When I became my mom’s fulltime caregiver, however, I wasn’t able to post as much and the blog fell into a bit of inactivity, which always saddened me because I genuinely love this blog, the books, and the community around both of them.

My mom passed away recently, and I have been trying to take the time to process and heal before I officially come back and get this blog active again, especially because of how rooted in this process the blog has been. I really do love this blog and everyone who interacts with it, and I really truly can’t wait to get back in the swing of things once I am able.

I hope to be back soon. In the meantime, take care.

I’m not sure if this anon was sent to me after digging through my blog or if this was eaten a while ago by tumblr, but I’m answering it now! sorry for the wait.

so to answer my opinion on the character, I have to separate my characters from myself. cindersnow is supportive of his former apprentice, sees her as wayward but good, and beetlepaw thinks of her dubiously, because her neglect reminds him of his own childhood. but me? my honest opinion?

I hate doveheart.

now hear me out! this isn’t a slight to the rper or the writing of the character! this isn’t made to be an attack on anyone, just to analyze the character in her entirety and give my opinion of her. frankly, dove reminds me too much of people who have taken advantage in my life, blamed their problems on mental illness but never own up to their actions, deny and defend rather than just admitting they were wrong.

and dove was wrong, mind you. she has depression, yes, and holy shit do I know the feeling, but that doesn’t excuse her for what she did. characters are supposed to be flawed, they fuck up, they make mistakes and start drama, but they have to own up to it! cinder took a mate from another clan and cats are going to hate him for it - I’m sure some of the roleplayers of the group think it’s annoying, as forbidden romance gets old for some people. and I know this. when you start conflict in a group full of characters and people, you can’t control their reactions. your character can’t always be in the right, can’t suddenly say the right thing or do the right thing after doing the wrong thing for so long. I don’t think dove is realistic, I don’t like the way she’s defended by snowkit at ALL (but that’s a whole different tangent), and I think people overlook her shortcomings as a parent. because yes, there are shortcomings!!! intentions aren’t the same as actions; just because she meant well, didn’t mean she didn’t do something wrong.

to me, she comes off as a bit of a crybaby. when she does apologize, it’s pitying, but instead of feeling bad for her I push her away even more. I don’t like how she reacts to things, her personality, or the way she carries herself. I dislike doveheart as a whole, the relationships she’s gotten herself into, and how she functions now.

again, this isn’t an attack or meant to be rude - I just don’t want to share a dishonest opinion. maybe I don’t like dove because she reminds me of myself before I knew how to really be the person I am now. maybe she reminds me of me before I learned to say sorry, when I was a bad person to be around, when people didn’t like hanging out with me.

again. just my opinion. my characters don’t feel the same way, but I don’t like doveheart.

romantic ships: no one. honestly, she just needs to get better. and even then, I don’t see her romantically with anyone. I think it needs to be taught that a character doesn’t need to be romantically involved to be happy and whole. I don’t see dove with anyone, and that’s a good thing.

non-romantic OTP: doveheart/kestrelstorm. I know that’s no longer possible, but those sisters were my favorite duo.

unpopular opinion: I wish she and amber had never gotten together in the first place. I know it means more characters and more kits, but honestly? with the conflict going on in the clan, I wonder if it’d be easier on dove and amber if it had never happened.

what I wish would happen: I want her to get better!!!!! I think she’s has the makings of a really good character with good struggles if only she turned this around. her development could end up being really good. who knows! maybe she changes and becomes my favorite creek character!!!

This is just something that I wanted to ramble a little about because I was skimming through Teaspoon Translations. ^^

It bothers me that some of the Supports do not impact the plot, like this one. It actually seems like Edelgard got some character development here [unless she's lying, which would not be out of character for her]. However, based on what I recall, her perspective on faith remains unchanged throughout the plot. So...what was the point of the developers making this support?

Honestly, at this point, I wonder if this game would have been better as a book series [arc 1 could have been the War of Heroes, arc 2 could have been White Clouds, and arc 3 could have been the timeskip, preferably Silver Snow, in my opinion]. >.<"

Hi, sorry for replying late!

As you said, sometimes she... says things people want to hear, so I wouldn't know what is her general opinion about faith, but I think some other people made theories about it and it was basically something like while she doesn't like faith because she believes it makes people weak and unable to stand on their own... she also has no qualms replacing the Goddess figure (a non human) by herself, and in the A support of this chain, Manuela says (iirc?) she is now inspired by Edel herself, and not the Goddess?

It's the same faith, but not the same recipient.

But yes, back to this part of their support, she seems to realise people can be devout while not being "weak" as she at first thought.

About supports showing character development, you also have the Cyril/Claude ones, where, on top of revealing Claude doesn't know a thing about Almyra and maybe should get his bases covered when it comes to Almyra and how it treats its people, ultimately has him agree that Rhea is a benevolent figure for Fodlan, and he doesn't have to make an enemy out of her because they both want the same thing : to help people who have no place/status/standing in the world.

I feel like only Dimtri's supports are integrated in the story or show development that doesn't contradict his actions, but it's mostly because he is support locked for a good chunk of the AM chapters lol

And while I'd have loved to get a game divided in three parts like this... Sadly after playing the WoH part, Edel's discourse and goals and what not are completely inaudible and full of crap, so the main crux of the game "can you fight against the red emperor of the game if the red emperor was your precious student you've bonded with uwu?" would fall apart after her first lines!

"Crusts BaD and are the reason why the world sucks and it's those lizard's fault" is laughable and would pretty much piss people if you played a first part of the game where you learnt what Crests are, how people conveted it and how they came to be "distributed" to humans - especially as the game never ever challenges her directly saying that crests are just a tool, and people can decide to use them for good or wrong reasons - we know how she reacts when she is challenged like this from FE Heroes, she vanishes away...

I downloaded them on the spriter ressource, you have a lot of content there, character portraits, the backgrounds, their chibi pixalated units on the map, etc etc !

However the backgrounds are not organised, they're just in five different folders so have to open everything to see what's Zanado from what is Enbarr etc etc.
