See, he's got a lotta enemies in a lotta forms and a lotta valuables. So, the idea of clocking out for a long period of time makes him paranoid. Vulnerable. Dare say, fallible- Which is why he altered himself so the need for sleep is at best a suggestion to him. So he'd really only ever sleep if he was goaded by PB, only because the idea of somebody he trusts also being there brings him some sense of comfort...
