Top knot locs! It was a journey that took some time, 1.5 days. She had a lot of healthy and thick hair. She wanted thin locs and extend them with human hair so she could wear them up and make braids. I made little squares that were about 1cm and extended them on the spot. In the picture it almost looks like a full head of locs, but in reality it's only the part of her head. Sides and rear are completely shaven down, amazing! I forgot to count how many locs I made, sorry! Needless to say that never goes very well. The salon tried to twist his hair with a lot of product and after just one day some of his dreadlocks started falling out. He went back and asked them to fix it so they took it all out and tried something else, without success... . Cristian knew there was a better way so he took his dreadlocks out and he kept looking and eventually found us. We gave him the exact thickness he wanted with his brand new dreadlock installation via the crochet method. Installed a new set of locs on this client and extended it with human hair. She brought the human hair herself. We chose for thin locs and on top a little bigger than behind. She had very short thin hair so we wanted a strong base for the extensions so they would slip easily. I extended the locs on the spot I didn't make any extensions beforehand. While I was installing the locs she was cuddling with our little one and even helped us to let her sleep better by giving her an Ankh healing. It was the first night in 6 months our daughter slept for 7 hours straight! Collaboration! 'It takes a village, to raise a child' Last weekend I collaborated with a client who's learning how to make and maintain locs. I shared my techniques while we installed a full head of locs together. Meanwhile my little girl needed care as well. So it was win win. I could breastfeed and she helped to take care of our daughter. Parenting and working at the same time is nearly impossible with a baby. Best time to work is when baby sleeps. So I've been working with a sleeping baby in a baby carrier and have been depending on the loving hands of dad entertaining her and carrying her during naps. She also doesn't take the bottle so every feeding is live with mommy. Which means I've been working on days my husband has his hours free of work. It took two days to install these 76 locs. First day dad was present for our daughters care, but the second day dad wasn't there so we shared the care either by sitting on clients lap, playing with mom, playing with colleague or sleeping while being carried. In this picture our little girl was carried in 'ruck' wrap by my colleage and did a very good nap on her back. A Blast from the past! After years of not having locs this client came back to me to get them back. 8 years ago I installed her first set of locs. She has a lot of hair and she had 80 locs back then. A lo and behold, I installed yet 80 locs again! The set looks almost the same with the same whispy ends that will go back curly after a few days. Only difference is this time around the first install is much tighter. My technique changed over the years. I am allowed to work again! So I'll be back posting. I just didn't like posting during this lockdown which deels like lastig forever. I started out with a new tattoo by @tattoo_quin_ She's a beginning tattoo artist and not even a year in, but she already did an amazing job. I would recommend her!! I also installed her a full head of locs. She had ordered some synthetic loc extensions she wanted installed. They were not enough for a full head but she wanted the rest of her hair knotted as well. We decided on some thinnee dreads as well. Christmas is coming! Although these are uncertain times I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Make it homely and call your friends and family.
