Now that the Boston trip is over, I have an unpopular opinion I need to share. 

Catherine’s wardrobe was hypocritical and wasteful. She looked amazing, sure, but the whole visit was about sustainability and combating climate change. Wearing 5 new outfits out of 7 is the opposite of sustainable. It doesn’t matter that she re-wore a few accessories because she still bought quite a few more. 

This is a complaint I’ve always had, it’s not new. And I understand the complexities of needing to look perfect as a royal lady and how the wardrobe costs reflects that, but now was not the time to debut new clothes or jewelry when pieces in her closet would have done just fine. 

I also understand that many believe she needs new clothes as a sign of diplomacy or respect to her hosts. To which I say: they made it very clear this wasn’t a royal tour or visit, it was a short trip specific for the Earthshot prize. There was a diplomacy aspect, sure, but highlighting the project was more important and their actions, all their actions, should have reflected that.
