प्रसिद्ध दुग्धेश्वर नाथ मंदिर के शिवलिंग की लंबाई पाताल तक

छोटी काशी के रूप में प्रसिद्ध है दुग्धेश्वर नाथ मंदिर

देवरिया। उत्तर प्रदेश में देवरिया से करीब 20 किमी दूर रूद्रपुर का दुग्धेश्वर नाथ मंदिर छोटी काशी के के रूप से प्रसिद्ध है। यहां के शिवलिंग स्वयं भू हैं तथा यह शिवलिंग अपनी विशेषता के लिए विख्यात है। यह मंदिर 11वीं सदी में अष्टकोण में बना हुआ ने प्रसिद्ध दुग्धेश्वरनाथ मंदिर में स्थापित शिवलिंग का आधार कहां तक है इसका आज तक पता नहीं चल पाया। मान्यता है कि मंदिर में स्थित शिवलिंग की लंबाई पाताल तक है। आज भी भक्त शिवलिंग के स्पर्श करने के लिए 14 सीढ़ियां नीचे उतरकर पूजा अर्चना करते हैंं। इस मंदिर के बारे में जानकारी रखने वाले पंडित राम सहारे पंडा बताते हैं कि 11वीं सदी में इस मंदिर के वर्तमान स्वरुप का निर्माण तत्कालीन रूद्रपुर सतासी नरेश हरी सिंह ने करवाया था जिनका संभवत: सत्तासी कोस में साम्राज्य स्थापित था।

पंडा राम सहारे के मुताबिक, यह मंदिर ईसा पूर्व के ही समय से यहां है। उनका यह भी कहना है कि पुरातत्व विभाग के पटना कार्यालय में भी नाथ बाबा के नाम से प्रसिद्ध इस मंदिर के संबंध में उल्लेख मिलता है। महाकालेश्वर की भांति महत्ता: महाकालेश्वर उज्जैन की भांति इसे पौराणिक महत्ता प्रदान की गई है। यह उनका उपलिंग है। सबसे बड़ी बात है कि यहां लिंग को किसी मनुष्य ने नहीं बनाया, बल्कि यह स्वयं धरती से निकला है। त्रयंबकेश्वर भगवान के बाद रूद्रपुर में बाबा भोले नाथ का लिंग धरातल से करीब 15 फीट अंदर है। बताया जाता है कि इस मंदिर में स्थित शिव लिंग की लंबाई पाताल तक है।

प्रसिद्ध चीनी यात्री ह्वेन सांग ने भी जब भारत की यात्रा की थी तब वह देवरिया के रुद्रपुर में भी आए थे। उस समय मंदिर की विशालता एवं धार्मिक महत्व को देखते हुए उन्होंने चीनी भाषा में मंदिर परिसर में ही एक स्थान पर दीवार पर कुछ चीनी भाषा में टिप्पणी अंकित थी, जो आज भी अस्पष्ट रुप से दृष्टिगोचर होती है। कई इतिहासकारों ने उस लिपि को पढ़ने की चेष्टा की, लेकिन सफल नहीं हो पाए। मंदिर के बारे में पौराणिक कथा है कि यहां पहले कभी घना जंगल था। आज जहां शिवलिंग है, वहां नित्य प्रतिदिन एक गाय प्राय: आकर खड़ी हो जाती थी तथा उसके थन से अपने आप वहां दूध गिरना शुरू हो जाता था। इस बात की जानकारी तत्कालीन रुद्रपुर नरेश के कानों तक पहुंची तो उन्होंने वहां खुदाई करवाई। खुदाई में शिवलिंग निकला। राजा ने सोचा कि शिवलिंग को निकालकर इसकी स्थापना की जाए।जैसे-जैसे मजदूर शिवलिंग निकालने के लिए खुदाई करते जाते वैसे वैसे शिवलिंग जमीन में धंसता चला जाता।

बताया जाता है कि शिवलिंग तो नहीं निकला वहां एक कुआं जरूर बन गया। बाद में राजा को भगवान शंकर ने स्वप्न में वहीं पर मंदिर स्थापना करने का आदेश दिया। भगवान के आदेश के बाद राजा ने वहां धूमधाम से काशी के विद्धान पंडितों को बुलवाकर भगवान शंकर के इस लिंग की विधिवत स्थापना करवाई।ऐसा माना जाता है कि यहां दर्शन करने मात्र से लोगों की मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण हो जाती है। यहां हर वर्ष शिवरात्रि और श्रावण मास के महीने में हजारों हजारो की संख्या मेंं भक्त ��ाबा के दर्शन पूजन के लिए आते हैं।
