This man is the very definition of a guy who claims he wants a manic pixie girl but can’t handle her

You'd be advised, if it's not too late, not to fall in love with me. I have very little to offer in the way of constancy. Just adventure.

I have no words. I really want to see a movie with both them in it.

Duncan Wedderburn as a character fascinates me. We’re introduced to him as a free-spirited world traveler with unconventional ideas about the world which draw Bella to him.
It’s easy to assume that Duncan is lying here to manipulate Bella into leaving with him, but I actually think it’s more poignant if he’s telling the truth. He realizes that “polite society” is a golden cage, but a cage nonetheless, and one he wishes to escape from. At first, he thinks Bella is his way out. But when she opens the door for him to truly step out of polite society, he can’t do it. Instead, he tries to force Bella back into the golden cage, so he won’t be alone inside of it. In the end, Bella escapes, giving him the option to escape with her, but he chooses the cage.
It’s easy to write Duncan off as just another misogynist who takes advantage of Bella (which is also true!) but I think there are layers to him that are not, perhaps, blatantly obvious from the surface.

One of my favorite things about Poor Things is how Duncan talks a lot about how he loves Bella for being a free spirit, but then gets angry when she does anything that goes beyond dancing quirky.
Not only because it's really funny but also because it highlights the contradictory nature and double standards of ableism. Duncan is very much aware that Bella's mind doesn't work the same way as others, but he still expects her to conform to societal norms.
He loves Bella's free spirit, but only under the confinements of his own control and desires.
