The fate of the James Bond franchise has been in flux with the last Daniel Craig entry NO TIME TO DIE (2021). Since then casting rumours have been swirling on who the next Bond would be and exactly when a choice would be made as the IP owners Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael Wilson were notorious sticklers (understandably so) of the character and wanted to find the very best Bond and a way into making the character fresh so it could find new audiences, but i a way to not push away the old fans. Well, money won out and Broccoli / Wilson ceded creative control to Amazon MGM in February and the studio has now announced the director of the next Bond film: French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve.

Somewhat surprising because reportedly Christopher Nolan was very keen to take it on but he and Broccoli/Wilson allegedly didn't agree on final cut.

The question is what does this mean for DUNE: MESSIAH?

Of which Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet's son Nakoa-Wolf has been cast in.

While we do know Amazon MGM's intent is to have a young Bond likely early in his spy career or even military career, no Bond has been formally named.

In recent weeks Aaron Pierre, Regé-Jean Page and Theo James have been bandied about (the former two names gaining traction post Broccoli /Wilson as they had long ago nixed the notion of a non-White Bond), but all signs point to the new Bond being an actor who has been pretty much assumed the next Bond for a couple of years now: Aaron Taylor-Johnson. His Brand Ambassador deal with Omega watches - the official watch of James Bond

- has made it seem like a done deal, but also his reticience on the red carpet of 28 YEARS LATER to comment on casting (when in the past he's outright denied it or declaring it a boring topic that everyone has moved on from) seems to lend that the notion that he is indeed the next Bond.

I'd take a Bond serving in the military.

You can't even call him Young!Bond because he's 35 now and will be like 37 when it came out. George Lazenby was 29 when he had is turn and Sean Connery 32 when he took to the role.

If true, can't wait to see what the Taylor-Johnsons get up to on the red carpet.

Taylor Zakhar Perez always knows he has to keep people engaged so why not post a thirst trap? I know that's right, TZP!

He needs to take those socks off; I need to see the feet situation.

-I said this in a previous post but I've watched Amazon Prime's ribald college comedy OVERCOMPENSATING created by and starring Benito Skinner (inspired by Skinner's grappling with his sexuality which, for him, conflicted with his golden boy, athlete reality),

and on a purely shallow way Benito's character Benny reminds me of TZP's depiction of Alex Claremont-Diaz; and a bit of TZP. Benny is charming, athletic, has a deep voice and is ripped.

I need TZP to recreate this, but with a guy.

Really hoping for S2 of OVERCOMPENSATING. It's a great show, extremely funny. By design Skinner didn't just want the series to be about Benny's exploration of his sexuality, but about how everyone overcompensates so his supporting cast are fully fleshed characters with equally interesting storylines.

and so far the press has come down to KiKi Layne, Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman

The latter two will pair up for HOT ONES:VERSUS (see, even HOT ONES has a tagline).

The L.A premiere is on the 25th. I hope Marwan Kenzari makes it; Luca Marinelli (IMO) seems unlikely as his play stars June 28th (and runs through July 6th).

Still on that PARENTAL LEAVE push in the interim.

Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope, The Goonies) was recently on the podcast "Dinner's on Me" hosted by her current theatre costare Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Things discussed was Plimpton's stalled career before RAISING HOPE that led to her seeking work as a babysitter

(This is why the nepo baby discourse is tiresome to me because yes, you get to connections, but it doesn't mean your career will be steady. Tony nominee Plimpton, granddaughter of John Carradine, daughter of Keith, niece of David (KUNG FU) and Robert (REVENGE OF THE NERDS, LIZZIE MAGUIRE), cousin of Ever (THE HANDMAIDS'S TALE) and she could not find consistent work).

and she talked about her relationship with the late River Phoenix and their relationship to fame. There's a very old interview; I want to say it was in Interview magazine and it was while she was filming something and Phoenix's grandfather was her on-set guardian and she talked about how Phoenix's team did not want him to openly date her so he would appear available to teen girls. Crazy that from the Golden Age of Hollywood era to today celebrities image is curated.

I've seen many a people slagging it off, but I enjoyed that it's a richer, deeper story than zombies. The score/soundtrack is insanely good.

I've not been keeping up much on talk of TED LASSO series four, not because I have no interest, but because I want to wait until everything is solidified and confirmed, so maybe it was already confirmed, but it is new to me that Brett Goldstein will be one of the writers.

Goldstein mentioned on Ted Danson's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" podcast that it was there in the writers room that Jason Sudeikis got the call that his uncle/godfather and Danson's CHEERS costar, George Wendt, had passed away. Goldstein said everyone sat there and pulled up comedy clips of Wendt.

Sudeikis honoured him at the recent Big Slick celebration, a charity Wendt has supported in the past.

I am not a fan of theatre, but I am not uncultured; I do follow what's going on in the theatre community, especially during awards season, so I knew all about the HAMILTON reunion and how people were very excited for it...for some reason.

I don't get the love, but if you like it, I love it!

Anthony Ramos fumbled Jasmine Cephas Jones, but Daveed Diggs and Emmy Raver-Lampman made it to marriage and parenthood.
