I was just looking for an simple, print out, free sewing pattern for working dungarees. Can you believe it's impossible?! So I'm going to make my own(trial and error and error and errror...) and eventually post it on here. I really want some to use on the farm. Why are dungarees not more of a thing? They're so cool. Alison in Ghosts has some really cool ones...

I think she has yellow or red ones as well...

Aren't they great? I now want to make all those dresses and some of those coats. Definitely the cloaks. I'm determined to have an eyecatching but practical cloak to wear while riding my amazing vintage bike.

SPOILERS!!! REFERENCES AND EASTER EGGS IN F&C ep. 2: SIMON PETRIKOV

Let me know if I missed anything!

First of all the title sequence is fucking cool. I don't want to speculate about the various things we see in it, like the apartment getting blown up or the Fern tree growing into its 1000+ version, because I'm sure the show will get round to all that!

The first scene was an awesome reintroduction to the post-apocalypse, showing us the dynamic between Simon and Marcy. The button popping off Marcy's dungarees was a reference to young Marcy's first appearance, Memory of a Memory, when she removed one of the buttons herself to fix Hambo's eye.

Simon was show playing a live set at Dirt Beer Guy's tavern in Obsidian. It seems they've gotten to know each other quite well over the past twelve years. Dirt Beer Guy asks Simon if he's read his new book draft, about a character called Joe Milkshake who was first mentioned in the episode Root Beer Guy.

Despite the fact we saw Jake in the trailers, Finn and T.V. pretty much confirm in this scene that Jake is dead, and has presumably been dead since before Obsidian. I guess Bronwyn wasn't the only Jake descendant who Finn took on as an apprentice, but T.V. doesn't seem all that into it. The Finn and Jake we saw in the trailer are likely from an alternate universe that we have yet to see.

Finn uses his weed whacker to cut through these bushes. A nice way of showing he's fully recovered from his Fern guilt. The focus here is very much on Simon's problems instead of Finn's.

Finn parts with Simon to go and visit Huntress Wizard. The nature of their relationship remains ambiguous and I expect it to stay that way.

Simon has the Island Lady from The Party's Over Isla de Señorita in his phone. I guess they reconnected after he became Simon again. He also has Abracadaniel. I always liked Ice King's friendship with Abracadaniel and the rest of the Order of Giuseppe so I hope they're still friends!

Cute Bubbline scene. Back in the episode Bonnibel Bubblegum, Mr. Creampuff suggested he and PB get matching tattoos. Now she's (trying to) do the same with the girl she's chosen rather than some guy who was chosen for her! Also Marceline is using the same phone she's been seen with in a few previous episodes, including Go With Me and Be Sweet.

I think the flying human city is called Up-Ton.

Choose Goose! He keeps coming back! And he's evil now! People were joking about him being the antagonist of Fionna and Cake after that weird post-credits scene in Wizard City and the fact he was in hell in Together Again. I wasn't expecting that to actually come true. Glob knows why he's hanging out in a cage in Simon's house.

The pattern of GOLB's eyes is reflected in Simon's glasses during the ritual. He is doing the same dance that Betty was doing to summon GOLB in the finale.

Among the objects in Simon's GOLB shrine are the Farmworld Enchiridion, the flying carpet that Simon stole from Ash and was later frequently used by Betty, the crocodile clips that Betty used for her magic rituals, two effigies of GOLB, and what looks to be the shell of the snail who was seen throughout the original series.

In this credits sequence, Fionna and cake are dreaming about the mask being worn by the bear than Finn slew, and a butterfly with a smiley face on it. Perhaps symbolising Finn?

HI!! Do you have any tips for beginners who want to try their hand at making a Stex cosplay?

So, StEx cosplays can be really intimidating when you first start looking at them, but I’ve found that breaking the costume down into what you can recognise really helps! :D

Like as follows:

- What does the base garment look like to me?

- What shapes of clothing can I see

- What are the main feature pieces?

- What Materials might replicate the textures?

And in an example, using my Rusty cosplay as a reference, the answers would be:

- Base garment looks like dungarees with a main feature t-shirt piece and long sleeves underneath that. (This kind of answers the two first questions!)

- The main feature pieces would then be the chest plate, coal box, hat, belt & panels

After that you can start to put in more research for what clothing or sewing patterns would work for the elements you need to have!

Always remember that buying pre-made garments to use as a base is 100% valid in the cosplay making process!! It can be so useful and definitely the best way to start if you’re just beginning in your cosplay journey!

- For the more complex feature pieces, Craft Foam will always be your best friend! Not only is it the easiest to work with, it’s also fairly easy to get ahold in terms of availability and pricing!

- Worbla is also a really great option for making pieces, but it can be a bit more on the expensive side and tricky to work with!

- I also recommend using UHU glue as it creates a good strong bond on most materials!

Acrylic paints can be used on loads of different materials and will also work on fabrics, just remember to use your iron/heat gun after painting to heat seal the acrylic paint if you do use it on clothing/fabric! Fabric paints are also great!

Always remember that cosplay is for everyone, it doesn’t matter whether you’re just starting out or have been doing it for a long time, if you love a character enough to want to dress up as them it’s always going to be incredible!! Just enjoy the process and never be afraid to ask for advice or help if you need it!! The cosplay community is for skillsharing and having a great time!

actually the last of these i designed. as always, i find him Difficult, but i am happy with what i have done :3

the bracelet around his ankle was made by percy- james and percy also have them, just in different places. thomas doesn't like things around his wrists or arms in general (no tight sleeves, either!) so has his on his ankle!

originally the jacket was a non-zipped hoodie but it didn't feel Dynamic enough for him, so i decided to go for the open jacket look. it feels more active- perfect for the cheeky lad himself.

he does know how to tie his laces, he just Cannot Be Bothered.

edward:

this design came the most naturally. i didn't really have to do any second guessing or anything- edward is edward and he just felt like edward to me!

of these seven, he is the only one who wears glasses. he is NOT, however, the only one who needs glasses. gordon, james and emily should heed his advice and get some themselves (they will not.)

originally his trousers were going to be a much darker brown, but the lighter just felt a lot more old-man-comforting which i feel fits his pizazz better.

henry:

henry :3

henry is the sort of person to have a little bag that just contains like,, Anything that one could need in a situation. you require an item? henry has it!

the long skirt was initially alllll the way to the floor, but i wanted to show a bit of boot to make it just,, lightly more practical than a full floor-length one. it is a very swishy skirt.

henry has my favourite face/hair design of them all i just love how poofy the hair is and the little EXPRESSIONNNN!

gordon:

mr professionally dressed!

he wears old man shoes because i can't imagine gordon not wearing old man shoes even though he does not consider himself an old man. someone calls them old man shoes and he goes home and cries.

he's got some Muscle to him- beneath those sleeves he has got the p o w e r. also a bit of chink- not all that much, but he is noticably Wide as well as Tall.

james:

my favourite design for my favourite little lad!

i wanted him to be flashy but not Overly obnoxious- his vest is bright and his jewelry is dramatic but he also has some more muted colours. having a scheme is very important to him- the only thing that breaks it is the friendship bracelet from percy that he has on his wrist.

he has long boots because he would have long boots <3

the red strips in his hair are entirely just because he wants to be more red and more colour coordinated.

percy:

his trousers brush the floor because he is not the tallest and the ones he liked weren't quite the right lengths. so many people he knows could shorten them for him but he actually quite likes them like that.

percy gets freckles just because i wanted him to have them hehehe no other reasoning!

his green is a lot more yellowy and bright than henrys more dull and sappy greens, and his red is a lot deeper than henrys more pinky red.

his bag has his little friendship charm on the buckle. he doesn't wear it as a bracelet like thomas or james do- it stays on his bag because he loves his bag and is never without it.

emily:

despite her engine being a dark green, her main outfit piece (the dungarees) is a lighter green. this is Entirely just because i liked how it looked better.

her boots have detailing meant to be like her great race livery!

emily had one of the easiest outfits for me to design- she just feels like a dungaree sort of gal to me, and i just worked from there! the little gold patterns on her dungaree pocket are meant to reflect the big ol wheel pattern on the stirling single.

Trousers that dig in while sitting down are my sworn enemy, which is why I love wearing dungarees so much.

I decided to branch out and try a jumpsuit and see if I liked that as much. If I’m honest I was expecting that it would swallow me up a bit and not look great, but then I tried on this one and I’m in love

It was a bit tricky to get dressed into, but now I’m wearing it it’s ridiculously comfy and I think it looks pretty good as well - I definitely don’t feel swamped in it

How to romanticise Spring:

Some ideas and things you can do to romanticise the Spring season 🫧˚˖𓍢ִ໋🌷͙֒✧˚.🧚🏻‍♀️.

Spring Wardrobe - Spring is the perfect time to start integrating new pieces into your wardrobe. Long flowing dresses, maxi skirts, pretty blouses, milkmaid dresses/shirts, rompers, dungarees, mini skirts, cami’s and so much more. Make sure to add a pair of new Spring pumps (Mary janes are perfect) and some pretty floral hair bandanna’s and flower crowns in there too. Pastel pinks, yellows, blues, greens and white fit perfect for this time of year, along with patterns and materials like floral print and lace 🩰

Change your eating habits. Put away the comfort food from winter and indulge in the delicious delicacy’s of Spring. Fresh fruit and vegetables can make endless recipes for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, sweet things like Oatmeal, Honey, gelato and any particularly sweet fruits are perfect for this time of year 🍒🥗🍵

Consume Spring media 💐 The media you consume affects your mood, consuming uplifting Spring content will not only make you feel happier in yourself, but will also make you look forward to and romanticise the season more. I have a list of Movies, TV shows & books you can consume in Spring that I will be uploading shortly ☀️

Read Spring books. There are SO many out there, classics are perfect for this time of year but any whimsical, forest-core, fantasy story’s like “The Hobbit” or “The legend of King Arthur” are perfect too 📖

Listen to classical music, movie soundtracks and pretty instrumentals whenever you are doing any of the following activities (I find it helps romanticising a lot! 🎶🌷)

Have a picnic outside - Bring a wicker picnic basket, beautiful picnic blanket, fancy plates and cutlery and have a picnic fit for a countryside princess outside, either at the park or in a field. Wear a big sun hat to keep shaded from the sun and be sure to bring the essentials (Princess picnic food can include miniature sandwiches, scones, cookies, cakes & cupcakes, fruits like strawberries, cherries and apples, any snacks you can think of, lemonade and sweet iced tea) 🌷

Host a Tea Party (either indoors or outside) Set a table with all your finest dinnerware pieces, wear a floaty dress and white gloves, and use your most precious Teapot to pour fruity and sweet flavoured teas into any delicate teacups you can find. You can even make this Bridgerton inspired and have a high-tea esque party. With cookies and strawberry shortcake, cupcakes and miniature sandwiches. Make sure to set the table with a pretty tablecloth, fresh flowers and napkins/fine cutlery for yourself or your guests. Play some classical music and enjoy 🫖

Go berry/fruit picking. This time of year is perfect for Strawberry, Cherry’s & fruit picking in general. Wear a big straw hat, a long dress and don’t forget to bring your basket with you to collect the fruit in 🍓

Visit a flower field 🌸 💐 this time of year, flowers are in full bloom. Wear the most beautiful dress and a flower crown, so you are ready to twirl in the flower fields to your hearts content 🌷

Bake new Spring recipes. There are SO many Spring/Easter baking ideas on Pinterest. Have a look at any and compile a list of Bakes you want to try this Spring season 🍰

Cook new Spring recipes, you can even incorporate any new foods you have tried into the recipes and be sure to write them down in your recipe book 🥧

Make flower crowns! You can use fresh flowers or fake flowers, some wire or plain headbands. Get creative with them, use flowers, gems, lace, ribbon (this is a lovely activity to do with friends outside) 🌸

Press flowers (Such a Spring fairy activity!) any wild flowers you find (preferably dying or damaged) take them home and press them in a heavy book

Go on Forest Fairy walks. Explore your local forests, parks, meadows in the most vibrant green and pink dresses, wear flower crowns and just be one with nature, listen to fairytale music and take in the wildlife and nature around you 🧚‍♀️

Decorate your bedroom/space for Spring. This can be as simple as changing the bedding or by going all out and re-decorating your room completely. Fresh flowers, fake plants, cottage-core illustrations of animals look lovely too 🌷

Celebrate Easter like a Spring princess (really get into it this year) enjoy a beautiful Spring breakfast, paint eggs, eat chocolate, do some Easter bakes in the kitchen, make Easter Sunday a special day for you 🐣

Journal/Sketch/Paint - Painting outside is one of my favourite things to do, and you could even set up your easel/painting supplies in a garden or local field and paint the scenery 💐 Journalling all about your pretty Spring days can be uplifting and I find that sketching illustrations of Flowers, woodland animals and just Nature in general makes me feel so at ease any time I do so 🦢

Visit historical places like castles, botanical gardens and garden centres. These places are always abloom in Spring. Most of these places offer café’s and afternoon tea’s too! 🌸

Visit a cute Café for afternoon tea 🫖 (Make sure to wear a pretty outfit!)

Go frolicking in meadows. Roll down hills and twirl in flower fields 🌼

Feed birds and take time out to Spend time with nature and wildlife 🐰

This has been on my mind for a while but I know I'm not the only Whovian who hates the outfits Tegan and Nyssa were lumbered with in season 20 onwards. Most of the remit for them seems to have been "show as much skin as possible so the dads watching can leer at the actors" (they both, along with Peri, got the brunt of these awful costumes).

So, to rectify that (and inspired by @timelordian-disaster-126 's awesome artwork), here are some suggestions for outfit ideas for Tegan and Nyssa that I think would be fun.

Nyssa would probably like dungarees, so a pair of linen or corduroy dungarees are a good idea. Paired with a polka-dot or funky patterned shirt. Bonus points if Nyssa starts adding scientific instruments into the pockets. A pair of sturdy boots (either with a stack heel or no heel) would complement it nicely, plus a long raincoat (think Ms Frizzle by way of the Thirteenth Doctor).

Tegan's season 20 outfit is hated by all of us (Janet Fielding especially) so literally anything would be better. In which case, I think practicality is the best bet for our favourite Australian so a pair of jeans, t-shirt (preferably a plain colour like white or light blue but could be purple to reference the flight attendant uniform) and a plaid shirt (maybe red or a dark blue). It is Important that the plaid shirt be rolled up to the elbows. A leather jacket to complete the outfit but (if cold) could be switched out with a thick woodsman jacket. For footwear, either a pair of sturdy trainers or a good pair of Doc Martins.

Nyssa wearing a roll-neck jumper with a pair of black dungarees (sort-of a reference to her jumpsuit in season 19, but with more of a individual spin on it). Perhaps accesorised with a necklace or some pens stuck into the dungaree front pockets.

If Tegan wants more of a femme-inspired look, perhaps a long skirt with a blue-and-white striped t-shirt (either long or short sleeved). She can also wear a pair of leggings underneath, combined with some nice tennis shoes in a complimenting colour.

Nyssa in a shirt, trousers and waistcoat would be fun, perhaps accesorised with a pocket-watch on a chain. Perhaps with a boater-hat (maybe she found Romana's old one whilst rooting in the TARDIS wardrobe?). She can have a neck-tie (either done up or loosened) or go without, depending on the situation.

Dunno if it's practical for Tegan to wear a tuxedo, but maybe some sort of shirt, trousers and jacket combo. It would work well with her shorter hair in season 20, as well.

Those are my ideas, but what do you all think? Please let me know what ideas you have. :)

Dungarees have been acquired! With functioning pockets! Also, we named him Rupert. Because if you say it really quickly it sounds like ribbit.

Started this project this morning. It is now late evening. My restday/day off well spent imo ^^.

(the frog pattern is (like anyone could've missed it) by Claire Garland. The dungarees are just freehanded though.)
