Okay hi hello I have seen a sudden new influx in EAH fans (hiiiii welcome <3) and while I am very happy to see this little fandom still be more than three pieces of lint and a paperclip, I am here to give y'all a list of already DEBUNKED EAH myths that somehow always show up whenever this happens every 1/2 years:
"Apple White and Raven Queen are related."
They are not. In Chapter 2 Episode 11 "Blondie Branches Out" there's a throaway line explaining how the 'Prince Charming' role is distributed between multiple unrelated Charming families. There is also no mention in any of EAH media of Apple and Raven being related. The only related characters are:
Poppy and Holly O'Hair (Twins)
Giles & Milton Grimm (Siblings, Milton is the oldest)
Cerise Hood and Ramona Badwolf (Siblings, order not specified)
Daring, Dexter and Darling charming (Siblings, Daring is the oldest and Dexter and Darling are fraternal twins)
Briar Beauty and Rosabella Beauty (1st Cousins)
Gus and Helga Crumb (1st Cousins)
The Hood/Badwolf sisters, Sparrow Hood (Distant cousins)
In Apple White's 'Royally Ever After' diary, the retelling of the Snow White fairytale has Apple be Raven's personal assistant that later overthrows her rule, meaning familial relation and them sharing a royal bloodline is not a necessary part of the narrative.
"XYZ Background character is the descendant of ABC fairytale character."
Unless directly confirmed by a GURU media employee or mentioned in the show, none of the background characters have a direct counterpart.
Most of the most famous background characters are actually cameos/based off of animators (pictured below):
The fandom wiki is not a reliable source given the fact it has no edit protection and the moderators are no longer active.
Be carefulnot to confuse popular hedacanons or fan designs (more often than not fanart by red_red_heels, boots.caitlin and/or theprincessswan on instagram)
"XYZ's fairytale parent is dead."
Unless specifically stated, this is also not true. Certain stories have a loophole or workaround that prevent major character death. So far we have been given confirmation of:
Cinderella (Unknown loophole): shown to still be alive in 'Ashlynn Ella's Story'
The Swan Queen (Turned into a swan forever): It is not known wether or not Duchess' mom gave birth to her while she was still a human or if she was born from an egg. Raised by her grandmother. It is implied her curse is generational.
The Little Mermaid (Happy Ending): The first time this loophole is mentioned explicitly (Meeshell's diary). She was given a happy ending and lives under the sea, unlike the original HCA story. Story variation further explained in 'Fairy Tail Ending'.
The Big Bad Wolf (Unknown loophole): Self explanatory.
Baba Yaga (Possible Immortality?): Self explanatory.
The Candy Witch (Version recorded in the Storybook of Legends confirmed to be inaccurate): Explained in 'Kiss and Spell'.
"Descendants killed EAH."
Look, I am as much of a Descendants hater as the next guy, but the unfortunate truth is that EAH was never as successful as Mattel expected it to be. Their style was too 'childish and girly' for kids who were already into Monster High, and their themes were far too complex for younger kids to fully grasp. So their target audience was unfortunately not very interested. This is coming from someone who was around 11-12 when EAH came out. As an existing MH fan, I was turned off by it as at that time kids were entering their more 'edgy' phase and wasn't willing to give it a chance.
What dealt the killing blow was Mattel and Disney severing their contract over the Disney Princess doll line due to decreasing quality, and then after the release of descendants with Hasbro, one of Mattel's biggest competitors.
-
There's probably some other myths I missed, but these are the most common/widely believed ones. I'll maybe reblog/update later with more myths as I come across them.

I love RH/SH as dolls, they're extremely beautiful to me and I love the level of detail, but the animated series is such a mess in terms of story and character.
Then there's MH G3, I really enjoy the new animated series, most of the characterizations and the more story driven structure very reminiscent of EAH, but I struggle so much to like most of the actual doll designs (the base dolls are really pretty but the clothes... eh).
I hate how both of these franchises have the opposite weaknesses because I wish we could have the best of both worlds, but I digress, sigh

alistair wonderland. thinking up a strategy for every little thing you do. laughing over homemade ice cream sundaes in a dirty kitchen. falling asleep in a giant dogpile of kids. coloring designs and riddles onto your shoes. all the other puzzles were easy. why not life?
chase redford. messy hair. black beanies to hide it. revenge bedtime procrastination; no time to do anything in the day so you stay up all night, giving you perpetual bags under your eyes. cheating at cards. memorizing books. summer strolls and strawberries. she calls it a date but it doesn’t feel like one. are you broken?
sparrow hood. headphones cranked on full volume. midnight guitar sessions. band posters against torn green wallpaper. “eat the rich” stickers. bleeding fingers from playing the same riff over and over. crying in the woods because no one will find you there.
hunter huntsman. stopping to pet every animal you see. letting your girlfriend paint your nails. moss growing on tree trunks. wild blackberries. countless hours spent making daisy chains. baby bunnies. polishing and sharpening arrows that will never be used.
dexter charming. rain, but it’s warm. buzzfeed quizzes. the “mom friend.” learning for fun. old-fashioned teddy bears. coffee with extra cream and sugar because you need to study, it’s 10 pm and the test is tomorrow. college hoodies. one painted nail.
daring charming. rhinestones that catch your attention, only to realize they’re fake. broken mirrors (and the seven years of bad luck that come with them). gold-plated bedframes. vans + nike. selfies in the sun. left on read. expensive flowers that hold empty meaning.
hopper croakington. deserted lake spots. finding shapes in clouds. mint chocolate chip ice cream. probably has a lizard for a pet. “swamps are beautiful! just misunderstood.” keeping a diary. reading poetry in secret because of course they’d make fun of you if they found out.

EAH Dorm Rooms Headcanon pt 2
Briar & Ashlynn
One princess is bound for century long sleep, while the other princess is fated to dance in glass slippers.

Being the second viewed dorm room in the series our favorite pair of Royals (with rebellious streaks) Briar and Ashlynn are up next.
Both Ashlynn and Briar have a floral theme to their dorm as Briar motif is roses and thorns and Ashlynn is a nature lover. The style is done in a way that it doesn't overpower the other girls' theme, and you can still tell who's side is who's.
Despite both being royalty, Briar's side gives hints of it while Ashlyn's side has a natural-nature (that's the best I can describe it) design to it. In the books Ashlynn didn't care too much about fancy things as long as it was eco-friendly and has a ginormous shoe closet, she's cool with whatevs.

Originally, during the 'True Hearts Day' Briar's side of the dorm was to the viewers left and Ashlynn's was to the viewers right. When 'Thronecoming' aired the sides were switched. I'm gonna put that in the too many writer/animators on layout design category.
I'll be honest, I wouldn't feel comfy if I lived in Ashlynn & Briar's (Duchess & Lizzie, Justine & Ramona) bed layout. I would hate to sleep across someone like that and I could see them, and they would see me! I mean if you and your roommate are comfy with that fine, but I would need a room divider or something!
Briar totally put a zipline on their balcony and Ashlynn put some birdhouses on it as well. Now, to the dorms!
Briar's side: Briar is the fashionista of the school so her room needs to reflect it as well. As the next Sleeping Beauty, Briar's furniture resembles roses and thorns.

I wish Briar had something in her room to show how adventurous she is since she's trying to 'live it up' before her 100-year sleep. Like her helmet and some sports equipment. But she probably has them stored somewhere until she's ready to use them.
In one of the books Briar keeps a list of ideas for future party. Since she's the school's main party planner she must have a planner and party supplies stored away in the dorm.
Before, Briar accidentally pricks her finger and falls asleep we get a good glimpse of her side of the dorm. She has a spinning wheel, so she most likely makes her own clothes for her and her friends. Briar, Ashlynn, and Lizzie totally get together to make and design various outfits.

In the Getting Fairiest line Briar has a nightstand where she places her sunglasses (crownglasses) while getting ready for an event or sleeping. It was the only one shown in the webseries. If you look at the image labeled "Briar's Dorm Room" you can see the nightstand has a different design and appears to have her necklace/shoulder pad thingies (what is that even called?) and what appears to be a jewelry tree.

We've already seen Briar with her vanity set, but if you look at the middle image there's another one. That is most likely an animation error because honestly who has two vanity sets (COUGH-MAYBE-DARING-COUGH). It would be better if a wardrobe was placed there instead, seeing how we don't see a closet in the room.
Briar! Having and activist cousin, nature-loving roommate, and a frenemy dark fairy you should know better than to use a Fairy as a clapper (Actually, I blame the writers on this one)! If you look back at the middle image above, Briar already has a non-fairy powered light that Ashlynn turned on.

Seeing as Briar is one of many fairy tale characters that gets put into a deep sleep. She would need an alarm clock that is loud enough to disturb her slumber.

Like I said in the previous posts one side of the dorm has a fire place and it's on Briar's side. Originally, Briar's desk and computer were there, but were most likely moved to prevent catching on fire.

In the Thronecoming playset Briar's dorm is completely different from the webseries. The only thing that seems to match is the non- getting fairest nightstand & jewelry tree from the 'Briar's Dorm Room' image. But let's be real of course the dorm was gonna look different due to: the special coming out, different writers/animators, and other forces. Maybe, this is what her room looks like back home.

As stated on Raven's dorm card the room originally belonged to The Evil Queen (and Red Riding Hood) during their second year. Can you just imagine the stories the walls would tell if they could. There's no way the Evil Queen had more than one secret hiding spot in that dorm (or the others she was in) if Briar wasn't just looking for the real Storybook of Legends I bet she would've found more. Before Apple made the switch to be Raven's roommate she was going to room with Briar. The irony: the future Snow White living in the Evil Queen's old dorm? HA!
Ashlynn's side: Ashlynn is a hard worker, shoe-o-holic , and granola girl. We didn't see her side of the dorm as much as Briar's, but we do get a hint of it.

In the webseries Ashlynn and Briar share the same wallpaper, but on the website when each character got released they got their own wallpaper and flooring so players could design the room. Okay, I got tired of cropping the images so in the second image it's the third wallpaper and flooring would represent Ashlynn. In the third image the first drapes and (maybe?) the dresser belongs to her. I wish they made Ashylnn's wallpaper blue/turquoise to contrast all the pink like in the web quizzes.

Ashlynn has a vanity with a total of three mirrors which was perfect since she, Blondie, Apple, Raven, Cupid, and Briar were getting fairest for Thronecoming.
We do get to see Ashlynn's shoe collection in the webseries. In the Ever After High playset it shows that Ashlynn has a wardrobe along with the shoe collection that aren't identical glass slippers.
I wish we could see more of Ashlynn's side of the dorm! We know she loves plants so maybe she could have: cacti, succulents, a bonsai tree, an orchid, anything! Heck, she could've done a Fluttershy (from MLP) and have little baggies of pet snacks for the animals she visits and photos of said animals. Also, wood art and bird houses that Hunter made for her. The options are endless!
In the books Ashlynn has a secret calander of lumberjacks she hides under her bed. Now that's she's in a relationship with Hunter, she puts his face on the models and stares at them.
EAHWORLD, EVERAFTERROYAL, AMAZON, GOOGLE, EAHWIKI, ROYAL&REBEL, @monster-lili,
EAH DORMS: INTRO, Raven and Apple, 1 1/2 .

Differences between the cartoon/diary canon & shannon hale book canon:
Book!apple fell into a well as a child & the trauma from that is part of why she's so adamant about destiny (fear of the unknown/lack of control)
Several characters' appearances &/or personalities are different/contradictory between continuities (book!faybelle has dark blue hair, book!snow white is a ditzy figurehead who doesn't actually know how to run her kingdom, which is why book!apple is so adamant about being a competent ruler)
The hale books are the only continuity where marrying apple's dad is a required part of raven's destiny
Related to the above - apple's "royally ever after" doll diary (a "what if" scenario of how apple & raven's version of the story could go) has raven become apple's boss, rather than her stepmother
In the hale books, cerise's hometown finds out who her dad is & try to kill her
Hale book exclusive characters like coral witch, nathan nutcracker & clara lear
In the hale books, thorn walls surround the campus every night to keep students from sneaking out
Bella & Brutta Sister
In "a wonderlandiful world", the school gets cursed & everyone except the wonderlandians & cedar turn into inanimate objects (cedar turns human)
Same book, the wonderlandians & cedar fight the jabberwocky
Production related:
Unused character trademarks (amber midas)
Name changes (meeshell's last name being changed from l'mer to mermaid)
Fan theories about backgrounders (the dark-skinned girl in blue being rosabella beauty, the asian girl in yellow/orange being amber midas or related to 1001 nights, the pale blonde girl in silver being crystal winter)
Backgrounders designed after ppl from the animation team
3 little pigs vs 3 billygoats gruff
Thronecoming queen outcomes
Face screening variations based on where the doll was manufactured
The early concept ad ft. proto apple & cerise
Changes between promo photos & released dolls (prototype ginger & kitty having more acessories than their official releases)
Early concept briar was gonna be white
Animated designs that never got dolls (getting fairest, thronecoming, boys, etc)
Unused/incomplete storylines:
Farrah's doll diary mentions the daughter of the blue fairy from pinocchio having gone missing, & farrah being willing to take on that destiny in addition to being ashlynn's fairy godmother
Related to the above - Farrah was released around the same time as monster high boo york, so it's possible that at some point the plan was for astranova to be the missing blue fairy:
the blue fairy is often portayed as a personification of the wishing star
astranova's ship is 1st thought to be a comet/shooting star, & has the ability to turn things said in it's proximity into "unbreakable truths" ie. grant wishes
astra is shown in the boo york stinger to know apple & raven, & talks to them about the existence of "other schools/worlds", implying she's originally from ever after
It's shown w/ cupid that when characters travel between the eah & mh universes, their appearance changes
early releases of the astranova doll had dark blue skin, b4 it was changed to lavender
Duchess & "the royal rankings"
Inconsistent definitions of Rebel & Royal
Daring's unresolved romances
Milton grimm CURSED HIS OWN BROTHER & LOCKED HIM IN THE BASEMENT FOR YEARS and recieved no consequences
Fandom related:
SDCC leaks & exclusives
Matressina Peaprincess
Character appreciation weeks
"Make it gay" day
"Briar/ginger/cedar isn't a poc/poc-coded, she's just got a tan/made of gingerbread/made of dark wood!"
tumblr user freshplinfa/princeivy
Fanrumors (briar being removed from the main cast, monster high switching to using eah bodies, the rebel/royal conflict being dropped)
Attention All Ever After High fans!
I will be creating an Ever After High Iceberg, please comment or add anything I should include on it :)
