people with sim cards that use the "three" network such as three or smarty (like i use), did NOT receive the emergency alert test today. these networks are known for being a lot cheaper than other networks such as O2. the government is once again prioritising those who can afford more expensive mobile data as these are the people that vote for them. this is essentially the government saying that the working classes are second rate citizens that do not deserve to be warned of fires, floods, or terrorist threats near them. do NOT vote conservative if you wish to be allowed to know if your life is in danger.

this system is meant to warn you of fires, floods, terrorist threats, and other danger. this is not a privilege it is a right.

Spin Class by Twinsimming 🚴🏾‍♀️

This mod adds the ability to lead spin classes on Arsil's exercise bikes.

This is a script mod that can be placed in your Packages folder. It was built and tested on 1.69 but should work fine on 1.67.

Requirements

This mod requires Arsil's Exercise Bike mod to function.

Around The Sims 3's conversion of the exercise bike from The Sims 2 is recommended.

Lead Spin Class

Sims with at least level 3 Athletic skill can lead a spin class. Once your sim has started a class, other sims on the same lot will find an exercise bike in the same room and join the class.

The spin classes last 2 hours and your sim earns §40 for each sim who participates. Sims in the active household can join the class, but they do not count as participants.

If your sim ends a spin class early, they will not be paid.

TS3 - Shang Simla Forbidden City Icon MOD

One of the most fatal mistakes that EA Maxis' The Sims 3 Studio in San Francisco, USA ever done to Shang Simla, China world in The Sims 3 World adventures: Using image of Torii Gate, from Japan, for China world icon.

For 13 years after release of The Sims 3 World Adventures Expansion Pack, finally I did the fix for the icon. Creating this icon default replacement is actually difficult because

editing the vector in very small scale size. 64x64 px, 57x57 px, 38x38 px, 32x32 px, 21x21 px... 

I chose Forbidden City as icon for Shang Simla because Forbidden City is only existed in Beijing, China. Shang Simla has its own “Sim-ified” Forbidden City building in the center of the World.

I haven’t tested the whole gameplay showing this new icon, but I have already done the edit for all image icons with keyword “beijing” “china” on S3PE. If you found any icon that hasn’t been replaced, please report to me.

ATTENTION PPL! DO YOU LIVE IN THE UK AND HAVE A MOBILE PHONE? SENSITIVE TO SUDDEN NOISE AND SOUNDS? HAVE AN ELDERLY FRIEND OR LOVED ONE?

Just a reminder, but for anyone in the UK, please remember that today, at 3pm, the government will be testing the new "emergency alert" alarm system, much like the ones they have in the us and around the world. According to the gov, it will be a loud, blaring alarm tone (a bit like a siren/eas) that will go off at 3pm today, unless your phone is completely switched off. It will last for about 10 seconds, and to get it to away you just have to acknowledge the message by pressing "okay".

However, tests like these have been known for going wrong or getting delayed or having the sound stay on, etc (see the US' National EAS Test 2011), so please be prepared just in case. If you are worried about this, just avoid it altogether by having the device turned off altogether, or disabling the alarm in settings if you think it is necessary. The alarms are useful, in case there are any actual genuine national emergencies, and have been proven to save lives.

However, this does not take away the fact that many people are still not aware of their existence, and will not be prepared or aware of what is going on when they hear it this afternoon. This is especially important for people who are sensitive to loud, sudden sounds or even just people (such as the elderly) who may not know about this and may be alarmed by it. Also for people in who have hidden emergency phones (e.g. ppl in abuse situations, hiding for their safety, etc.). Maybe spread the message if you can. Friends, family, etc. Stay safe, people ♡

Tldr: There is an emergency alarm testing at 3pm in the UK today. It will be loud alarm/siren sound on your phone. Do not panic, it's just a test to improve the government's emergency response systems. You can shut off your phone completely to avoid it.

After testing the beta version of its cloud-gaming service in Canada and the UK, Netflix officially brings testing over to US users.

So what does this mean, really?

Firstly, it means that Netflix is attempting to quickly enter the gaming space and crossing its fingers that by making its games available across all devices, it attracts more users. Conviva's report highlights that more than 3/4's of users play games on televisions, meaning that this is a calculated step that could possibly push visibility for the gaming department.

This is yet another major step by Netflix to pivot its customer acquisition strategy, as a recent report revealed only 1% of its subscribers use the platform for gaming daily. However, it seems like Netflix is still in its early stages of laying the groundwork for a massive income stream. After hiring EA's mobile gaming executive back in 2021 to spearhead Netflix Games, it's been steadily bringing big names and franchises on and using its IP to steer content strategy.

Before the last couple of months, it's been crickets for Netflix Games, and that is a major strategic move by the company. It's attempting to feel out the market without burdening its already faltering subscriber base; it will require delicacy to execute this long-term strategy in the wake of its subscription crisis. Your pup might be able to join in on your gaming sessions soon, after a company invented a video game to stimulate dogs’ minds.  

While video games can lead to healthy brain stimulation and relieve stress in humans, their effects on animals, and particularly dogs, haven’t been studied as much, if not at all.  

The image of dogs playing video games sounds like something out of a science fiction film, but it’s much closer to reality than you’d already think.  

Even though your doggo won’t be jumping into Modern Warfare 2 any time soon, you might consider letting it play with an interactive whac-a-mole-style game, that’ll also inform you of the dog’s state of mind. 

UK startup Joipaw is building a series of video games for our four-legged friends, with the goal of helping further research into dementia among dogs. 

So far, the company has made an Apple Health-style tracker that can measure your dog’s health, including the number of steps they’ve taken and their time spent resting, playing, and walking. 

The data is particularly useful if you worry about leaving your dog alone at home, for example, when you’re off to work, but it can also give you updates about your pet’s state of mind. 

The tracker, which can be clipped onto your dog’s collar, can also spot early signs of problems in cognitive health, if it’s worn while they play a series of games on a special console.  

The company has only revealed the whac-a-mole-style game so far, although the console will feature more than just that, to better estimate the health of your dog’s mind. 

Some of the health problems that the data can point to include signs of joint issues or dog dementia, which pet owners could have a hard time spotting quickly. 

If you get notified that something’s not right with your dog’s health, you’ll also be able to present a report to your vet, to improve diagnostics and treatment, according to Joipaw. 

The idea for this product was coined after one of Joipaw’s co-founders, Dersim Avdar and his wife adopted a rescue dog in Hong Kong and were looking for a solution to keep him busy while they were away, according to MyLondon.

As they both grew up as gamers, the couple joked that they should buy their dog a video game to keep him occupied throughout the day, but they couldn’t find anything of the sort on the market. 

Joipaw has since started testing with multiple dogs to get feedback on the current version of its products. 

Once testing is complete and the console gets released, more features might be added, such as your dog being able to compete with your neighbour’s dog. 

So, esports for dogs might not be as far-fetched as you’d think.

Online video game Guild Wars 2 has officially launched, but there are issues with login.

After five years of development, the eagerly anticipated massively multiplayer game went on sale Tuesday.

Many people were unable log in due to the sheer volume of people.

The launch comes at a challenging time for online game creators, many of whom are struggling to keep players playing.

It is set 250 years after the first Guild Wars, but is set in the same fantasy Tyria.

While 28 August is the official date for the release of the title however, pre-ordered copies for the book could be obtained from as early as the 25th of August.

Keen players who attempted to sign in to play the first day of the early access period had to endure a long wait to get started or had to play in the "staging" area, which left players unable to play with their friends.

There will be more delays since the official launch will bring many more players to the game.

Guild Wars 2 gives players the job of reuniting the members of the heroes guild, called Destiny's Edge, who are required to save Tyria from the ravages of five older dragons who have woken and caused chaos to the world and its inhabitants.

ArenaNet claims to have made important modifications to the standard mechanics of massively multi-player online games (MMOs) to take away the drudgery from the work required to make Destiny's Edge to re-form and from the other tasks and quests that players are given.

Alec Meer, from PC games news site Rock Paper Shotgun, said Guild Wars 2 presented many of the most popular features of MMOs in a "fresh and nuanced way" that could see it hold the interest of players.

"The complicated, highly tactical and flexible combat should give it a life beyond the routine loot-hunting that characterises its competitors," he told the BBC. "This is a sport that must be mastered rather than be able to spend all day sunk into it."

Guild Wars 2 was launched at a moment when several MMOs are in transition. Many developers have abandoned monthly subscriptions and moved to the "freemium" model that allows players to play for free but with additional fees.

Wesley Yin–Poole from Eurogamer's news editor, stated that Guild Wars' history could be a reason why it does not have to drop its upfront costs.

He said it occupied a "unique" position in the MMO world because players must pay before they download and begin their adventure. In the UK, Guild Wars 2 costs PS49.99. Then, he said micro-transactions on gear and other items help to pay for ongoing development.

He said, "That method worked well in the first Guild Wars game and it appears to be working for Guild Wars 2." It works because it has a massive appeal to the hardcore and a loyal following that was established by the first game.

He claimed that Guild Wars 2 may have been against the trend of other MMOs, but there was no doubt that the traditional monthly payment model for online gaming was "dead".

Millions of people could still pay for World of Warcraft but that has a free-to-play option, he said, and others, like Star Wars: The Old Republic, are about to go the same way.

He said, "I doubt we'll see an MMO with a monthly subscription ever again."
