can you hear it, in the distance?
can you sense it, far away...?
Is it old Rudolph the reindeer? Is it Santa on his sleigh?
oH It's heading up to Easington! It's coming down the Tyne!
Oh, it's bloody Maggie Thatcher And Michael Heseltine
So,

A Bold Move Against Organised Crime in the UK
Tumblr media
The UK government, led by Home Secretary James Cleverly, has launched an ambitious new strategy to combat the escalating threat of serious and organised crime. This comprehensive approach aims to dismantle criminal networks and strengthen community resilience, demonstrating a firm commitment to safeguarding national security and societal well-being.
The Staggering Cost of Organised Crime
Serious and organised crime inflicts a substantial financial burden on the UK, estimated at £47 billion annually. This figure is equivalent to the cost of constructing hundreds of hospitals or providing numerous affordable homes outside London. The National Crime Agency (NCA) reports that about 59,000 individuals in the UK are involved in these criminal activities.   A Comprehensive Strategy for Eradication The government's strategy, building on ongoing efforts, proposes several innovative measures: - Enhanced Investment in Law Enforcement: The NCA will receive record funding for 2023/24, enabling it to tackle complex criminal networks more effectively. - Empowerment of Local Police Forces: Initiatives will be rolled out to enable local forces to address organised crime within their communities. - Global Efforts to Prevent Exploitation: Actions include combating modern slavery and human trafficking on an international scale.
The 'Clear, Hold, Build' Policing Tactic
The strategy introduces the 'Clear, Hold, Build' approach, aiming to eradicate criminal gangs and prevent their re-establishment. This tactic has already led to significant reductions in crime in various regions, including a 45% drop in anti-social behaviour in Easington Lane and numerous arrests in Barnet for serious offences.   Strengthening Legal Frameworks The Criminal Justice Bill introduces new powers, thereby providing police with additional tools to disrupt organised crime. Consequently, this includes banning specific items criminal gangs use and significantly enhancing Serious Crime Prevention Orders.
International Collaboration and Investment
The strategy emphasizes international cooperation to tackle cross-border criminality, with the Joint International Crime Centre playing a pivotal role. Additionally, the government will allocate substantial funding to the Modern Slavery Fund and Project INVIGOR, aiming to prevent exploitation and target organised immigration crime.   Economic Crime and Online Fraud Prevention Efforts to address economic crime include a Fraud Strategy involving collaboration with various sectors. The government is also partnering with major tech companies to combat online scams and is introducing new laws to tackle fraudulent activities.
A Resolute Stance Against Crime
The UK's new strategy represents a determined effort to confront serious and organised crime, ensuring a safer environment for future generations. Combining local initiatives, international collaborations, and enhanced legal measures, the government stands ready to significantly impact the fight against these pervasive threats.   Sources: THX News, Home Office & The Rt Hon James Cleverly MP. On Monday at the first day of Parliament following the Summer, one of the MPs, Grahame Morris, the Labour for Easington which is in Yorkshire asked four questions and they were all answered by Chris Philp who is the Minister of the Home Department with one response. Day Ten
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's been another long, but good, day.
Bedding down last night near Mablethorpe and as I was laying down a deer and foal stumbled right up on me! The foal froze up allowing me to get aome snaps in before shooing it off, but friends and family are now divided on whether this means I am now a Disney Princess or I get a free dinner. And it has been a long time sonce I had delicious venison...
As RAF Donna Nook occupies the rest of the coast up to Grimsby, I was left with little option but to head down the A road again, but hitting the road at 6am meant a nice lack of traffic and by the time it finally picked up I had put enough miles in to be closeer to Grimsby and back onto some nicer cycling infrastructure.
Riding that early also got me a glimpse of both a barn and tawny owl prowling over the fields!
After starting with the road inland, I dropped down the Cleethorpes to enjoy a nice ride around the seafront promenade, before heading in to Grimsby proper for a good break and a bit of breakfast.
From there, the route up to the Humber Bridge is very heavily industrialised, so I took a diversion down into the countryside to check the top of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB. The last few days' wind has finally quietened down and without a xloud in the aky it made for some lovely riding, if a little hot and swathed in sun block!
From there I picked back up onto NCN route 1 to head up to the Humber Bridge, which did involve some hills but also some great downhills along the way. as well as an unfortunate patch of bridleways, but they did at least have a reward of much needed ice cream at the end. As well as a lil baby blue tit by the side of the trail!
After the expansive fields of Lincolnshire, crossong the Humber River felt a bit like entering a different country - suddenly trees everywhere! And with that we say goodbye to Lincolnshire and hello to the East Riding of Yorkshire!
Following the cycle routes through Hull was sadly less fun. I think it's the only point ao far on this trip where I have felt genuinely unsafe - cycle paths that put you in the middle of major roads, cars playing chicken on priority passes, taxis reversing around junctions and nearly flattening the bike, etc...
So I have departed Hull with all good speed, and luckily enough there is a long, long traffic-free cycle route heading out east, which I have followed past Hedon.
And with that it's time to find a spot for the night! We're back to the coast tomorrow aiming for Easington!

W swoich pierwszych wyborach powszechnych w 2015 roku Partia Północno-Wschodnia rywalizowała o cztery miejsca w parlamencie, kandydując na kandydatów w Easington, Newcastle upon Tyne North, Redcar i Stockton North. Najlepszy wynik osiągnął w Easington, gdzie kandydatka Susan McDonnell zajęła piąte miejsce z siedmiu kandydatów i otrzymała 2,3% głosów. W wyborach samorządowych hrabstwa Durham w maju 2017 r. Susan McDonnell prawie potroiła swoją liczbę głosów od 2015 r., zaoszczędziła depozyt z 6,6% głosów i zajęła trzecie miejsce, wyprzedzając kandydatów UKIP, Liberalnych Demokratów i Zielonych. Partia wystawiła dwóch kandydatów w wyborach powszechnych w 2019 roku. Partia nominowała swojego członka-założyciela Hiltona Dawsona w Hartlepool na pierwsze parlamentarne wybory uzupełniające w latach 20. XX wieku. Przyjechał na dziesiątym miejscu. W wyborach lokalnych w 2021 r. Partia zatrzymała dwóch swoich radnych w Radzie Hrabstwa Durham w okręgach Passfield i Peterlee West. Pomimo utraty drugiego miejsca w tym drugim okręgu, zdobyli oba miejsca w Peterlee East, co dało im łącznie czterech radnych.
