La oferta de productos y servicios de SALMAG se basa en el uso de Bischofita, la cual tiene la capacidad de retener agua, llegando a reducir el consumo de ésta hasta en un 90% respecto del riego de caminos sin supresores. Una molécula de Bischofita es capaz de retener hasta seis moléculas de agua, disolviéndose en muy poca agua (750 kilos se disuelven en 500 litros de agua), formando una solución líquida de muy baja tasa de evaporación. Incluso, la Bischofita es capaz de absorber humedad del medio ambiente, disminuyendo aún más el consumo de agua.

Mendiburu explica que la saturación óptima de una solución líquida requiere de una preparación que asegure una dilución homogénea de la mezcla agua/Bischofita, para así asegurar una densidad de 1,25 tonelada por metro cúbico. Agrega que “cualquiera sea el uso de la solución líquida de Bischofita (EasyMag®), la densidad debe ser de 1,25, lo que permite asegurar las tasas y las dosis de riego, garantizando la cantidad real que se aplica sobre el camino”.

“Para esta preparación hemos llevado a cabo una importante inversión en nuestro Centro Logístico, consistente en una planta automatizada, que utiliza la energía gravitacional para la preparación de EasyMag®”, añade el ejecutivo. “Hace seis años que damos servicios de supresión de polvo en la minería, y hemos ido creciendo y teniendo cada vez más clientes que confirman que quienes entregan mejor el servicio es SALMAG”, subraya.

Mendiburu remarca que “la Bischofita es un producto que participa en el mercado de los supresores de polvo, y que ha enfrentado de manera exitosa a su competencia en base a la tecnología e innovación, generando ahorros de costos que pagan los servicios”.

¿Qué es la Bischofita? La bischofita se obtiene del proceso de extracción del litio, en el Salar de Atacama. Es una sal natural, no peligrosa, no tóxica ni reactiva, con muy bajo nivel de corrosión. Posee la capacidad de retener agua, se disuelve en mucho menos agua que otras sales, es delicuescente, aglutinante de partículas. Su uso está respaldado por 20 años de investigación y pruebas que han demostrado las propiedades y ventajas de este producto en el control de polvo en los caminos y rutas de la minería.
