Shoutout to Rhonda of Carmel, Indiana for their purchase of this 2003 Saxophone Christmas t-shirt. The relatively small return and obscene 6.5 years in our inventory (w/annual re-listings & price drops) aren’t anything to get excited about but I’m glad that this rare, unique historical piece finally found a home. I don’t know if the customer is a transplant from the San Jose area, is a saxophone enthusiast or just a fan of Christmas in general. Practically everything has an eventual buyer assuming your margins can justify the overhead, profit and storage but this cool item bore a significance and what I instinctually perceive as value. I just couldn’t bring myself to cut bait and chalk the shirt as a loss/donate during the prior years. Incidentally, our local Christmas In The Park highlighted on the shirt has been relocated and restaged as an advanced ticket drive-thru affair during this COVID 2020 holiday season. We sell some pretty cool, esoteric stuff that completely bypasses our shop due to arrangements that we’ve made with some collectors. This #ECV ‘Clampers’ event tee is consistent being red like all of their garb but unique since this commemorates an event related to a ship (a WW2 supply vessel which is now part of the Rosie The Riveter Museum in Richmond, CA). The ECV is an organization tasked with the historic preservation of the west, typically around sites from the gold rush. This latest find is a rare gem for early 90s hardware manufacturing darlings Silicon Graphics #sgi. Do you remember their prominent branding in the very first “Jurassic Park” (1993)? Regal “SGI/O2” satin mesh Wilson Jersey (USA made) is oversized with generously gusseted armpits. The O2 was an entry-level Unix workstation introduced in 1996 by Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI) to replace their earlier Indy series. Like the Indy, the O2 used a single MIPS microprocessor and was intended to be used mainly for multimedia. Its larger counterpart is the SGI Octane.
