The Enigma Emblem Chronicles: Recap #3
Part one here and part two here. Part four on its way.
The journey to Kima, Orolond, was rather interesting. The party encountered a group of bards traveling north as well as a merchant of magical goods, Milandro, a half-orc who sold them a number of useful items. There was a brief fight with a group of animalistic bandits and Keith almost drowned (again) while crossing a river, but the party arrived safely at the border between Orolond and Braghad.
Thanks to the invasion, a number of refugees as well as the usual merchants were attempting to cross the checkpoint. Talion attempted to use his noble background to get the group through faster and, along with Lorilla, convinced the leader of the guards that they were on an important mission. Thus, the party entered the new nation.
On the road, Pharos bought a number of apples for everyone and helped a spice merchant named Sam fix his cart. Sam told Pharos to seek him out in Kima.
Getting to Kima several days later, the party soon found themselves lost as to what to do and explored. Talion left the group to try to make his way into the gold quarter, a nicer part of the city which can only be accessed by those with the right papers, and hasn’t been seen since. Pharos reunited with Sam and agreed to go on a date. Meanwhile, Keith encountered a group of bards and attempted to impress them, but failed. Lorilla asked around to see if anyone had heard of any of her siblings in the city and found that her brother was in a local inn. Later, the rest of the party decided to go shopping for new clothes in part to prepare Pharos for his date.
During this endeavor, Iris disappeared and the party split up to find her. Keith ended up getting her whereabouts from two men down at the docks; they told him that Iris had returned to the inn safe and sound, which was correct. While Pharos went on his date, the rest of the party went to meet Lorilla’s brother and discovered that he was a member of the same bards Keith had met earlier. They drank and were merry.
That night, Pharos with his date, the party was attacked in the night. Iris and Keith almost died, in no small part thanks to Lorilla, who cast thunderwave despite knowing it would hit her friends. Thanks to a good bout of luck, Keith was able to save Iris from certain death. The party was also aided by a stranger, Fenrys, who told them that he had some idea of who attacked and would introduce them to his friend in the morning.
In the morning, the party met Xorynth, a mercenary monk who confirmed that The Farmers, a massive criminal organization, had been in charge of the hit. She promised to help get them into the gold quarter in exchange for a cut of gold won from a competition the party planned on entering.
However, Lorilla found herself traumatized by the almost-murder of two of her friends. That night, while the rest of the party explored the gold quarter and found lodging with a powerful group called The Liberati, she sought out her brother and told him that she would stay with him. When the party returned to talk to her, she told them the news and there were tearful goodbyes.

The Enigma Emblem Chronicles: Recap #2
Find part one here. Part three coming soon.
God I can’t believe how much stuff has happened.
Upon entering the dungeon, the party promptly almost drowned in a mysterious pit of ooze before backtracking and navigating through a spike trap. They fought off several undead creatures and Talion found a chest of old coins that he appraised to be worth about a hundred gold each. In a fit of generosity, he gave one to the rest of his party and kept the rest for himself. The party also found a strange sword and other items.
Eventually the party was forced to traverse the pit of ooze. While some made it across easily, Keith and a few others almost drowned and Talion had to rescue them. Iser, however, refused and left the party. Further travel into the fortress revealed a large chamber with an alter of some kind. Investigating, Thea and Pharos agreed that it was some kind of dark magic. Almost immediately after, the party was attacked and Lorilla almost died after turning into a boar. They did emerged victorious, however, and collected several items from the alter itself.
But they did not have much time to rest, as next door they discovered a small, but still deadly dragon. To everyone’s surprise, they were able to actually talk to the dragon and found that it had been trapped underground in order to serve the orcs. There were metallic rings in its wings and it had been blinded. Through a series of good luck and quick words, in no small part thanks to Talion, the party temporarily allied with the dragon, promising to break it out after the orcs were all dead.
They killed the orcs after a long battle and found several boxes full of items. After a bit of planning, they also made good on their promise to the dragon before returning to Thornehill, tired and eager to see Iris again.
Reaching the town, the mood was much more somber than it had been when they left. The mayor, Kylor, called them to see him immediately and the party learned that Braghad had been invaded by its northern neighbor, Clannanbraugh. Worse, the entire royal family was said to have been killed, leaving Iris the only person with royal blood.
More than a little disheartened, the group dispersed for the day. They found that Iser had not returned to the town and now believe him dead. Keith talked to Iris about her family and promised to keep her safe.
The next day, Kylor called the party once again to talk to him and told them that someone needed to get Iris to where she was headed in the first place. Talion argued but the party, under Lorilla’s leadership, agreed. And thus, they found themselves headed for an entirely new city in a new nation: Kima, Orolond

The Enigma Emblem Chronicles: Recap #1
This is long so sorry mobile users. We’ve been playing for about six months.
Going to split this into three posts.
The year is 1497 and the horrors of the Great War have largely been forgotten. A fragile peace has settled over Duzakh, the prosperity of the nations beginning to turn into challenges for land and more resources. In Braghad, a large and prosperous nation in the north, things are about to change...
Our story begins as the party finds themselves drawn to the sound of someone crying for help in a forest. After searching for some time, the party discovers Princess Iris, the daughter of the King and Queen of Braghad, alone with a slain knight. She explains that she was traveling to a nearby town when she and her party was attacked. Her companions included other knights and her servant girl, Mytri.
Before the party can decide what to do, a small group of mercenaries arrived and demanded they hand over the girl. The party refused and fought the mercenaries off, Pharos getting seriously injured in the process. Emerging victorious, the party agreed to find the town and bring Iris there, though they disagreed on how they would do it. After getting lost for a while, the party eventually found a place to rest for the night and set up camp, three of them agreeing to share watch for the night.
During the night, a group of orcs attacked the party and once again the group was victorious, though Iser hid in a tree for the entirety of it. Worried about being attacked once more, they all decided to continue looking for the town.
After an entire day’s journey, the party found that they were close to the town but decided to wait a night, as they didn’t want to enter during the dark. They waited for daybreak to approach the town, Thornehill.
Arriving, tense negotiations were made between the party and Petyr, whom they would later learn was the head of the guards. Thanks in no small part to the druid, Lorilla, the party was allowed an audience with the mayor, Kylor Moonstar. He was suspicious but accepted Iris and her word, ordering the full party permission to spend a few days in the town. The messenger relay wasn’t operating as it usually does, something he was concerned about, so any possible messages haven’t been delivered.
Given time to explore, the party split and ventured around the small town. They all were met with various degrees of success and encountered a variety of interesting people, from the mysterious Nadia to the three clerics who work at the temple. Pharos and Iser also met with Athsra, an elf with magical abilities, who gave them gifts of gold and potions for protecting Iris. She also charged them with keeping the princess safe.
After an interesting night of flirting, gambling, and drinking (though not all three at once), the party woke. Lorilla was instructed to return to the town hall as soon as possible, seeing as Kylor wished to speak to her. She brought several of the others, including Iris, and went to him.
The mayor explained that the town was under pressure from multiple orc attacks and that the messenger system, which Thornehill is a hub for, was not working properly. He offered them gold in exchange for hunting down the orc clan responsible and eliminating them. Two of the clerics, Thea and Dalen, also offered their services. The party was forced to choose between them, however, and they selected Thea.
After another day spent in preparation, the group received supplies and set out to where the orc clan was supposedly located. They had to cross a dangerous swamp and fought off a group of strange, spider-like creatures, but the real difficulty came as Talion’s aggressive personality clashed with both Iser’s apathy and Thea’s staunch morality. Lorilla also came into conflict with Talion, and things were tense when they finally found the orcs.
Thanks to a clever plan involving Keith’s trumpet, a few fireballs, and good luck, the party was able to clear out the majority of the orcs with ease. Thea, however, insisted they enter a sunken fortress in order to find the orc chief.
