I get why some people say that moon.exe confirms Sun x Moon and fem!Sun in Security Breach, but I just don't think that's the case. Yes, they do symbolize the Murrays, but I think it's just that: symbolism. It's possible that SOTM Sun and Moon are actually Fiona and Edwin in some way (this is the ghosts possessing machines franchise, after all), but they are different characters than the Daycare Attendant. No one would say that Fredbear is the same as Glamrock Freddy, and Spring Bonnie is not regular Bonnie, who isn't Toy Bonnie, who isn't Bon Bon, who isn't Rockstar Bonnie, etc.

Also, we know how Fazbear designs female characters. Glamrock Chica and Roxy aren't on the same level as Toy Chica, but if they wanted SB Sun to be a woman, they would've either added glitter and pink paint, or some Grow Up Skipper nonsense, or both. He's just a skinny guy with a higher-pitched voice who's a little bit silly and whimsical.

I was reading a post about CoTG and I realized: Rick has seemingly started to write every character pairing with the exact same dynamic, and he's not good at writing that dynamic and it doesn't make sense for 90% of the characters he writes it for.

It's that very specific dynamic of one half of the pair who is almost aggressive to the other party - "teasing" them constantly/insulting them, affectionately punching/judo flipping/maiming/etc, seemingly almost always exasperated with the other - and said other party usually just accepts this treatment or blanketly views it fondly, and may generally be framed as more incompetent than their partner and a little bit of a doormat (particularly relating to being insulted/teased/etc by their partner).

We start seeing this dynamic in HoO with Percy and Annabeth, as a sort of semi-inconsistent twist on their rivals-to-friends-to-lovers dynamic from the first series. Then the dynamic pattern develops further with Leo and Calypso. Then Magnus and Alex. Then Nico and Will, particularly in TSATS. And now in CoTG, it's Percy and Annabeth again but even more in this direction.

I know people have talked about Nico and Will's relationship over the series rapidly being shoehorned into Percabeth Two™, and it's extremely apparent in TSATS that Rick's doing it on purpose (including directly quoting Percabeth scenes but minorly tweaking them to be Solangelo). But recognizing it as an overarching trend in Rick's later books honestly reminds me a lot of how Rick started trying to apply the "Percy Formula" so-to-speak to nearly every protagonist in HoO (and then try to replicate similar character archetypes with Magnus and Apollo's narrations - moreso Magnus in being jaded and sarcastic, very much trying to be first series Percy. He only sounds unique because Rick failed at making him Percy 2. Apollo is more akin to later-series Percy characterization of being goofy and incompetent. Apollo [and Zeus] even got retconned to give Apollo a more similar backstory to Percy's). Rick seems to have decided that he thinks the audience wants this specific dynamic but 10 times over, except he's not good at writing it the first time because it's a bastardization of the time he did a different thing okay.

And Rick also seems aware of that too! Because he retconned Calypso and Leo at the end of TOA, probably because he realized how absolutely awful it was reading when they were written with that dynamic of Calypso just functionally hating Leo and constantly being aggressive towards him! The only time Rick's actually made the dynamic even semi-successful was with Magnus and Alex, because it actually fits within their characters, their dynamics with each other, and their environment. Alex beheading Magnus on the regular works out fine because there are no repercussions to that in Valhalla, Magnus will be fine, so it does genuinely come off as humorous. And Alex has been effectively established to be abrasive at times but have her genuine feelings shine through regularly, and that meshes well with Magnus' jaded-and-aloof-but-quietly-very-empathetic character. And Magnus has been established to, yes, not be great at combat, particularly compared to Alex. They are the only time that flavor of dynamic in that form was effective and cohesive.

Percabeth is no longer rivals-to-friends-to-lovers badasses on equal levels with shaky pasts who finally found some form of permanence with one another. Now it's super smart doting and affectionately aggressive girlfriend and her silly goofy 50%-of-the-time incompetent boyfriend who she judo flips/pushes off cliffs/etc - but affectionately~! Solangelo is trying to riff off of the early series "Poseidon & Athena are enemies" dynamic that Percabeth had but with Apollo & Hades being "opposites" but learning to accept each other, except it ends up with Will just coming off as a huge asshole and Nico being retconned to a complete doormat about it - when prior to that those characterizations would be completely contrary to their established characters (even just from TOA!). Calypso in HoO gets retconned from her PJO characterization to being snooty and aggressive, and Leo's false persona gets merged into his just normal personality except he just also becomes a doormat but more goofy than Nico with occasional haha-dark/depression-humor! Which Nico also got. Which was also a bastardized Percy trait that got redistributed.

It's exhausting. Rick write more than one relationship dynamic you can do it I promise

WARNINGS: ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIP WITH SHANKS AS USUAL, SOFT YANDERE.

Nights at the ship are quiet. Nothing more than the endless ocean surrounding you to keep you company late at night. It's a strange feeling, knowing outside of the vast dark sea there's something else, someone else, people, children, men and women. There are things there, and you are missing out. Are you really? You try to delude yourself to think and pretend you don't want to grab an escape ship and let the ocean take you to wherever you're supposed to be, you fantasize about it more than you would like.

A stubble nuzzling against your neck gets you out of train of thought.

"Restless?" Shanks asks, a lazy, indulgent smile plastered on his handsome face. You unconsciously tense and then relax as he wraps his arm around your waist, making you lean a little more against the railing of the deck.

"My thoughts are killing me again." You murmur, lashes fluttering as he peppers soft kisses around your neck and shoulders. He lets out a hum of acknowledgement, and then there's silence.

"I have strange thoughts too, you'll live." He tries to provide comfort, you sigh.

"It's not that easy, Shanks. I... It makes me exhausted."

"I know," He answers, his eyes darken for a moment. "But you'll live, I promise you will. Come back to bed, alright? I'll put you at ease."

"I'm not tired."

"You just said you were exhausted," He cocks a brow, turning you around to face him. And you can't help but laugh at his puzzled expression, making him frown a little more, mocking anger. "Don't make fun of your captain, that's not nice."

"I thought you said that before my captain you were my partner." You tease.

"Well, I take it back," He groans as he uses his arm to lift you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, you're surprised at his sheer strength, at how easily he manages to lift your entire weight like it's nothing. "There we go, back to bed," He smirks, and bites playfully at the skin of your waist, making you squeak as he starts to walk back to your shared room. "I had a dream about you last night... Well, a few moments prior."

"What did you dream?" You ask him, staring at the floor as he carries you back, you feel his grip tighten.

"Eh... Not telling, sorry." He answers sheepishly, and from one moment to another he has already left you in the bed, careful and tender despite it all. You throw him a pillow as he turns off the candles, he catches it mid air, without even blinking.

You quickly find your place between his body and the covers, like puzzle pieces that fit perfectly no matter what happens. His arm, always protectively wrapped around your waist, snakes to its already claimed spot. You close your eyes, ignoring the faceless ghosts that tell you to run away, to chase your freedom.

"If I loose you, I don’t know what I will do," He whispers, his voice already gruff and groggy, you can feel the hairs on your neck rise at the intensity of his voice, of his words, even if they seem like gentle whispers. "So don't force me to figure it out."

I don't want people to just think that i'm a chronic shipper for the sake of shipping. Or that I don't "understand the point" of The Bear. Or all of my shipping habits is only in spite of the misogynoir-ist Bear fans who claim Sydney is annoying and therefore unlovable or undeserving of love.

It's because, she's such a beautifully fleshed-out character. She holds so much of herself back and doesn’t open her walls to anybody. She really only relies on her dad, and even then, she hates the feeling of someone worrying about her. And it's one of the realest qualities to any character I've ever had the pleasure of seeing and watching within a piece of media..

So yeah, okay, I ship Sydney with three different guys on the show (I see the SydRichie potential, SydLuca, c'mon they're cute, and OBVIOUSLY Sydcarmy..) (yes, you can LOL) because I think they could all bring her out of her shell in different ways.

And this is not in an “oh, she’s dependent on another person and the show is totally a romance” kinda way , and no not in a "I think in order for her character to be fully fleshed out she needs a romantic interest"— but in a way that recognizes romance is in fact a large part of most people’s lives. And as a well-written character, she deserves a well-written arc that includes her allowing herself to be loved. Cherished. Adored. The way she deserves. The way that she's denied herself. The way that she's closed herself off to. Time and time again. (Her dodging Carmen's obvious about-to-be-ask-out in season two, or the way that she blew off his "I like this" statement just this season)

She’s done so much good for every single one of the other characters. So yeah, fucking sue me if I think:

Luca and his charm and openness to learning and skill and flirtatiousness could make her more confident

Richie’s commitment to growth could open a space for real honesty between them and their connections growth to shift and become something more together (-this I'm kind eh on but I def see the appeal and the potential some of y'all have pointed out)

Or, (as my shameless favorite): Carmen.

Carmen, the damaged, youngest, most driven, most “I-have-something-to-prove-even-when-I-don’t,” the self-destructive and the caring, the altruistic yet insanely flawed young man, could grow alongside Sydney.

In what has the potential to be one of the most beautifully written dynamics in TV history.

The most complex, D1 yearner, and developed relationships to be told in a story already so deep and complex and human.

To have the upper middle-class Italian white youngest son, Carmen, with ambition and anger and years of pent-up emotion, to choose financially struggling Black woman, Sydney, who had to fight to become an absolutely, deliciously impressive chef in a predominantly white male industry. (meta tagged below) And for her to choose him back.

And to be together. Create together.

To hold each other (accountable, and in love)

in consistent apologies, and growth, and change, in discomfort and in the face of adversity.

To keep choosing each other.

To be each other’s partners.

And yeah, none of this is even from a technical or meta mind. This isn't an analysis or a deep set and heavily researched post to show you guys the evidence of how the show will show her love.. it's honestly just a rant at this point. I defend and love Sydney's character so hard and I believe so deeply she deserves the love she avoids and she deserves to be held and looked at longing and lovingly the way she really, already is. And to be okay with it and not only okay with it but to accept it and love it right back.

I love God fucker MC, them being the feisty snappy human to the very sweet Therapist who is God. Got another Rung AU now to add to the Wings of Primus AU.

But I'm also now just thinking about what other human crew think. The number of Virgin Mary jokes. Fuck just the amount of Jokes in general which get thrown their way.

Rungs lover is going about their day blissfully unaware of the chaos that is multiple humans interrogating Rung. Him finally gets a breather and sneaks off to speak with them privately. "I believe the rest of your crew are rather concerned about our relationship " he says while fixing his glasses and trying to not to spook them.

"What have they been telling you now?" They ask with a soft smile when they finally see him. "They seem rather worried about me, umm.. putting a Sparkling in your chamber. " he tries not to wince as he explains the other humans rather crude thoughts.

It makes them tense up before shock and horror flashed across their face. "Ahhh. Don't listen to a word any of them say. Please, they are just trying to get under your plating. I promise they mean nothing by it!" Rung can see the embarrassment in their movements as he tries to calm them down.

"Please, just settle. I just want to know why they would be worried about something like that. One of them mentioned a book of your people, saying something along the 'second coming'?" He's curious but at the same time doesn't want to overstep if it's something rather personal to human kind.

"Ahhh, I'm going to strangle them, next they are going to say I'm Virgin Mary and start making jokes about that around ship" the grumble to themself only for Rung to scoop them up into his arms. "My dear, is there something I've done wrong, I know we talked about my 'issue' but it seems it's slowly becoming something that is causing you trouble" he had his worries even after they continued their relationship after the whole 'Primus incident' as they called it.

"Beloved, please talk to me." His voice is ever soft as he traces his digits across their cheek. They lean into his touch, taking a deep breath and sighing. "Nothing bad, I promise, just stupid Earth religion thing," they start, eyes flicking open to watch him. "Earth has its own collection of religions kinda like Cybertron, one of the stories is about a young woman who gives birth to the son of 'God', I think people are mainly making jokes over the similarities" they slowly explains, it makes Runsg optic flicker as he looks at them stunned.

"Oh my," he murmurs optics flicking down to their stomach, "you're not carrying?" He asked slightly worried only for them to laugh. "No, no I'm not carry handsome, humans like to make rumours tend to make alot more than Cybertronians, I'm more surprised it's only that God they are making jokes about" they tease softly while pressing a kiss to his lips.

His frame seems to relax into the kiss. " I would like to hear some of these stories one day" he hums against their lips. "I'll see if I can find a bible and some other religious text from some others, but just watch out, some fo them might start calling you Zeus" they chuckle. It makes him smile watching how their eyes catch light.

• Let's say you're a wanderer. Not an Autobot or a Decepticon. Travelling through space in your ship, exploring the universe trying to find some friends, or whatever you come across first.

• A signal caught your optics, so you headed there. It leads to a planet, filled with fleshy creatures called "humans". Great.

• Even more great, your ship is now broken. The gravitational pull was apparently too strong for your ship. Now you're stranded here, clueless!

• At least you've managed to gather some spare energon from your ship, now you just have to go undercover. You scanned a vehicle without much problem, and tried to comm if anyone else was here.

• It was a futile effort. BUT! You did get some strange, static-y answer from the other side of the comm. So, you did what any sane bot would do. Follow the frequency!

• Which unfortunately ended up where you currently are.

"... You're not Cybertronian."

You say as you scanned the non-cybertronian bot in front of you.

"And you're not a Metal Cardbot..."

Says the strange blue bot with the police cap on? You didn't know cosmetics that are similar to a human's outfits even existed.

"Yes well, it's obvious what our differences are. Uhm... where is your mouth?"

"Pardon?"

"Your mouth. Do you, whatever you guys call yourselves, not have a mouth?"

The blue bot nodded firmly.

"Yes, us Metal Cardbots do not have the need for a mouth."

"So you don't consume energy?"

"We... Still consume a form of energy."

This confused you. A lot. But instead of asking further, you shook your helm and instead asked another question.

"Right. Well, what's your name? I can't just call you Blue now can i?"

The blue bot gave you an unreadable expression, but it's nothing negative.

"My name is Blue Cop."

"... I guess i can call you Blue!"

• And so the two of you introduced yourselves. He tells you his name, and vice versa. And it goes onnnnnnn from there.

• He's a curious fella, whether he shows it or not. Asking about your origins, where you come from, your name, and even about your occupation.

• He showed you around the place too. Meeting his team, and his fellow human friends! Though one of the Metal Cardbots reminded you of a certain Prime for some reason...

• But then, he asked about how you came here on earth, and when you told him the full story...

"I am... sorry, you had to go through all that."

He says, gently grabbing a hold of your shoulder in an attempt to comfort you.

"Don't worry too much about it. It's not your fault."

"... If it helps, Machina suffered a similar fate."

You vaguely remembered about Machina. The planet where the Metal Cardbots originated from. You never knew about it, only bits and pieces. So this surprised you a little.

"Really..? I guess mechanical lifeforms are destined to wander the universe, eh?"

You humored a bit, not wanting to pry further into what happened in their past.

Blue Cop only nodded in response, and while he may have lacked the necessary equipment to show it, you could easily tell he was smiling. So you did too, and the two of you stared out into the view nature has given you.
