“Your hands are freezing.” Eiji says with a gentle smile, holding Cole’s hands in his own. It’s not a particularly cold evening but it can’t be classified as warm either.

“You know I get cold easily.” Cole jokingly pouts while interlocking fingers with his lover.

They are in their usual hangout spot in the forest clearing. This is Eiji and Cole’s happy place. Somewhere to be completely alone with one another without fear of interruption.

“You need to wear gloves then. I can't be your personal heater forever, Cole.” He leans his head over to rest it against the other's shoulder. “It makes me cold when you do that, then that does neither of us any good.”

Cole laughs softly, pressing a kiss to the top of Eiji’s head. “I know. I know. I’ll wear gloves next time.” He won’t. He likes the way Eiji’s warm hands feel on his cold ones.

“Mhm.. you better.” Eiji knows for a fact Cole isn’t going to but he can’t be bothered to push it.

The two fall into a comfortable silence. Both of their eyes trail up to the night sky, some stars are already beginning to brightly gleam. It feels as though for a moment, all problems slip away. It’s just the two of them there and now. Always and forever.

“.. always and forever,” Eiji mutters, staring at the photo in his camera while sitting in the corner of a decrepit old classroom. A tear drops to the screen, beading down and off the edge.

That's because Hiroshi Inagaki's trilogy is a kind of cinematic Bildungsroman: the education of Musashi Miyamoto, a historic figure who served as a kind of bridge between the swordsmanship tradition of the Japanese warrior and the meditative tradition rooted in Zen Buddhism. It's a strongly planned trilogy where it comes to Miyamoto's development, and Mifune provides a solid center. But I found myself distracted by the Hollywoodizing of the story, especially the subplot involving Otsu (Kaoru Yachigusa), the woman who loves Miyamoto so much that she devotes her life to seeking him out. The argument goes that this romantic subplot represents one of the trials that Miyamoto must undergo before he can achieve the kind of wisdom that his spiritual mentors wish for him, but Otsu's doggedness struck me as heavy-handed and sentimental. Still, it's a fascinating and often spectacular trio of films, beautifully climaxing in the battle between Miyamoto and Kojiro Sasaki (Koji Tsuruta) as the sun sets over the sea on whose verge they are dueling.

hyakuzawa may be 6"7 and could probably knock out a person with a solid hit but like. the entire goddamn team would fight you if you shit talked him.

the "protect hyakuzawa yuudai" club is led by komaki, asamushi, and minamida

for those of you who don't know: komaki is their captain/setter with the glasses, minamida is their chill go-with-the-flow libero, and asamushi is a wing spiker with a temperament kind of like tanaka and noya

pls there was a scene where they all smiled at each other over hyakuzawa so like. they're definitely a trio and they only share one brain cell between them

komaki is usually in possession of said brain cell

when hyakuzawa comes back from the mock training camp and is like "me and the little dude from karasuno are cool now" the team is highkey sus

asamushi is like "what if the lil guy is trying to take advantage of him!!" and komaki immediately goes "no he's not smart enough for that" and hyakuzawa doesn't know whether to be insulted on hinata's behalf or relieved that they're not going to crucify him

asamushi is still very insistent and concerned and is debating on hunting down hinata and giving him a platonic shovel talk

komaki: DO NOT GIVE HIM A FUCKING SHOVEL TALK minamida, in the background: bring a knife with you when you go!

on that note komaki swears like a sailor bc of how much his friends stress him out but he doesn't do it much in public bc he's got an image to keep

there's a running joke that they could swap komaki out with futakuchi from dateko and neither team would know

seriously hyakuzawa and kogane have this whole "twins separated at birth" theory that should NEVER reach their captains' ears

kakugawa is on good terms with wakunan and johzenji bc they're all the cool overlooked schools that don't get enough recognition for having cool matches with karasuno </3

also it says on the wiki that kakugawa and johzenji faced each other in the summer interhigh and all i can think about is minamida and tsuchiyu being buddies and the only goddamn thing keeping their teams from breaking out into war

(this is mostly due to numajiri and asamushi having this Thing where they act like they hate each other to cover up mutual pining and it's absolutely horrible to watch)
