"Hm? You're too late Elris, you'll go where I go." Abelas stated matter-of-factly, it was said that roots and branches fell away with the Sundering, but there had to be plenty left, right? A tree like the Laurelin had to have roots running all over the place. He went to stand beside Elris now, nudging him with his elbow while not actively looking at him or even trying to think of him. It was nice, quaint proximity, close enough that he could smell what the other was wearing but far enough away to make it weird when Abelas took a deep inhale through his nose.

Naturally, Abelas could just tell where Ikaros was. Some people were just bound together by fate, it was all very dreamy and nice to think about the bond that the brothers shared. Abelas sighed, then he used the bracelet their father gave him to try and suss out what direction to start walking in. Naturally, his body was aligned initially to the general direction of the Silverlands and the feywilds beyond... but then he started to turn, one foot, then another, and soon Abelas was facing a different direction entirely.

"That's odd-" Abelas commented, "apparently Ikaros is somewhere... West? That doesn't make any sense though, that's the direction of the ocean." He scratched his chin then deduced that maybe, just maybe, Ikaros had opted to pursue the Kossith and those who'd been captured. "Do you think the Kossith might have taken some of the elvhen?" Araceli called Aventia home, she'd helped - or tried to help - save Icarus months prior.

Maybe holding his was a step to far, the feeling, that was one he wouldn’t like to feel again. Elris moved his hand behind his back after Abelas made some distance between. Made it so his hand couldn’t be held. Elris rolled his eyes at the mention of how Abelas always thought he was right. Why did he like this man again? Elris could recall a human telling him once that it was easier to just agree and avoid the hassle of an argument. The man had been referring to his wife in that instance. Elris didn’t understand why the man wouldn’t correct his wife but now it was all starting to fall into place. “If thats what you think.” not even Elris had the balls to say he was right all the time even when he was wrong. “I know I am right.” his face smug as the other had admitted it to.

“You want to go see the roots of Laurelin? With that? I need more convincing than just we should go to the roots.” that was a wild statement to make with no other proof that there might be a helpful reason to bring an object of dark magic that has out lasted ages to the root of Laurelin. “Where was your brother last so we can send him a letter?” Elris would assume back in avalon and maybe a letter would save them from traveling back and forth losing time. “Though the Kossith have taken folk in Aventia so a letter may taken longer than we have.”

Communication was weak today, I had trouble differentiating my daemon's voice from mine. Likely because I've been away for so long.

My dae (still unnamed) said that they are most solid in form at my side (when projected), and most solid in communication when my thoughts are focused on her. They don't have a constant presence in my psyche yet, which is also something I asked her about. She said that making this communication more constant would allow her to have a more consistent mental presence. That would allow her to coach me through some things.

I also talked about finding a name. She said "Elris" and "Eres/Eras" came to mind, but these were weak when she said them and still didn't fit.

when it comes to the dragon population in Mōriblēnun in the time around the war of the 5 kings in Westeros things are iffy. while they technically do have dragons still, there are issues with hatching new healthy ones and the vast majority if not all of the older dragons have had to be put under magical comas because they were showing signs of illness and madness.

these issues with the dragons likely have something to do with the various bastardizations the mōriblēnuneans have done to accelerate their country's growth and keep themselves strong while the Targaryens in Westeros failed. Just so much corrupted, mangled and short-cut laden magic around it made things damaging for the dragons.

when Albeon had his Elrys memories unlocked and had that well of power activated it helped even things out in some ways but it's Dany's birthing of dragons that really gets things going again.

✦ Originally named Biarella Tar.gar.yen she was discovered to be a reincarnation of the original Elrys ( @belmorvejes ) around 6 and renamed "Elrys" as is the custom. Instead of being brought to be raised and groomed for the job of future emperor she grew up with her parents, traders and explorers, on their ships seeing the world.

✦ The Empire of Mōriblēnun is located in the far east of Essos. It's capital is Asshai and it is in many ways the Valyrian Freehold 2.0. In the era of the Dance they're doing very well. The Targs and dragons are more populous there thanks to a total lack of ethics.

✦ Elrys visited Wes.ter.os in her childhood after hearing second hand tales of it from her father who had met Cor.lys. They peaked her interest and no Elrys had ever seen what Aeg.on's side made of Wes.te.ros so she just rolled up one day. It was a deeply awkward mess.

✦ Elrys is a selfish shit stirrer and opportunist. I say she's like a manic pixie count dracula because she seems like a whimsical little freak but is actually a spooky old guy who keeps saying messed up shit and draining people of their blood. She's also very curious and loves to explore. It takes her a very long time to finally settle down and take the throne.

✦ The Mōriblēnun Empire is doing very well thank you very much. They haven't officially taken the Ruby Throne yet but people still listen to them like they have.

✦ Primary setting is the Dance but this applies to any conflict era — because of the never ending Aeg.on Haterism they enjoy watching the Wes.tero.si Targs tear themselves apart. They can be convinced to join in but they have no preferences and have to be bribed heavily. Unless there's Bla.ckfy.res then it's those guys 100%.

✦ This Elrys is biologically female but is considered legally male, as all Elrys are talked about as male in a legal/political context. In social context it's much more complex as she's a girl, but also an evil old wizard guy who remembers a lot of their past lives. The gender is fucky here so it's normal for people to get confused.

✦ The different reincarnations are distinguished by epiphets, this one is called "The Venturer" due to their travels.

✦ Elrys Doombound ( @belmorvejes ) is their first life during the Conqueror's time and the Venturer is a past life of The Silver Hand ( @gelionvejes ) who rules during the era of the 5 kings.

✦ For one thing I see the Targs of the exodus and Aegon era as being much more populace than they're made out to be. in AWIOAF it's said Aenar brought his "kin" along with his immediate family and in the verbage of this era irl that can be hundreds of people easily.

✦ Elrys has albinism and suffers from chronic illness. While he's till a decent warrior he leans heavily on tactics and magic to function, especially magic as it's how he treats his illness.

✦ Elrys has always been melancholic, brooding, prone to mood swings and generally just very byronic. He gets worse with age and is just such an emotional lead weight.

✦ After traveling the world (which includes Valyria, where he gets some crazy ass swords) he comes back and gets in a fight with Aegon about how to handle the Prophecized Apocalypse, Aegon thinks westeros is more important, Elrys thinks Essos is more important. They come to blows and Elrys convinces half of the house to go into exile with him, he also takes 4 of the 5 original dragons.

✦ He takes over Asshai, the Shadow Lands and part of Yi Ti , creating the Mōriblēnun Empire and gets to work on building both the Targ and dragon populations to defend the Five Forts and Mountains of Morning.

✦ He Dies Mysteriously™ the same year as Aegon in Stygai, seemingly by his own sword somehow.

✦ Unlike Aegon he doesn't stay dead as his solution to succession issues was to just use magic to ensure he'd be reincarnated ad nausuem in the Mōriblēnean bloodlines.

✦ All his reincarnations are renamed "Elrys" once it's figured out who they are. The different iterations are distinguished by epiphets, Elrys the first is called " Doom Bound". both @solionvejes and @gelionvejes are his reincarnations.

I think that ACOTAR 5 is going to be about Elain finding independence from her sisters and the Night Court in general. There are a lot of hints throughout ACOSF, but the one that hit me hardest is this one, from chapter 32:

As usual, Nesta’s observation is harsh but true. Elain quickly figures out who can provide for her — Nesta, Greysen, Feyre and the Night Court — and gloms on to them, providing little of value aside from the flowers in her garden. And while I’m definitely in agreement with Rhys in the Feysand bonus chapter that gardening is messy, difficult work, I think there’s more to Elain than becoming a better gardener or healing the people of Prythian through the beauty of flowers.

Just like Nesta was taught by her mother to be calculating, I think Elain was minimized to think of herself as just a beautiful face and taught that she had to attach herself to a provider, specifically a man. My theory is that this is what's led her to be so passive and Nesta to protect her so fiercely, and I'm hoping that we didn't see those scenes in ACOSF because they're central to Elain's arc in ACOTAR 5.

I also think that Elain has proven to be an excellent observer. She’s the one who realizes Feyre is pregnant, and her stories about Nesta in their pre-cabin life reveal an eye for details that ends up setting the stage for a big Night Court diplomatic win with Eris.

Though she tells Nesta she’d prefer her small life in ACOSF, she is willing to scry and find the Dread Trove… but the Night Court pushes Nesta to take on that risk instead, in an effort to protect Elain. This happens a lot with the members of the Inner Circle, and paired with this observation from Cassian in chapter 57 of ACOSF:

It makes me think that Elain will find her calling outside the Night Court, specifically because that overprotective behavior, like Night Court black, is sucking the life out of her.

Obviously there are ways for Elain to break free that involve Lucien or Azriel or some unlikelier love interests (Tamlin? Eris? Vassa? Gwyn?!) and I’m all for the romance, but I’m hoping that Elain has a mission all on her own, and an opportunity to use her seer’s powers, her gift for observation, and her gardener’s tenacity to do amazing things in the world. I could see her being a successful emissary, fooling the High Fae with her lovely face and sweet smiles, only to coax key information from them. I hope that her journey takes her to other courts, where she's given the opportunity to see the larger world, get a taste of another kind of life, and decide for herself the kind of heroine she'd like to become.

To make a long post short, I don’t think Elain is boring, I think she’s just waiting to break free of the chains she’s been told are her destiny, and I can’t wait to see what freedom looks like on Elain Archeron. I think she’ll wear it well.
