Hello! I found this grub in a tree. The grubs had eaten through the tree so much that it broke in half and fell! I live in Australia, and I have been trying to look for ages as to what grub it is and what it could possibly be the red pellets it is secreting. Poop?? May be a little difficult to ID so I don’t really mind, just interested in your opinion! Thanks 😊

Yes, the pellets are the poop. I imagine they look red because the wood is reddish. Looks like the butt end of a beetle larva, and I'd wager Cerambycidae. If you manage to pull it out and get a photo of the whole thing, then I could give you more info.

Also shout out to what appears to be a cicada molt above the poop
