I almost always play as "Sole Survivor" For Shepard's backstory because it opens up a SHIT TON of dialogue in all 3 games, a lot of it plot important.

But it's also kind of fucked up to have the human characters all being "oh wow Commander Shepard! It's so cool you have all this survivor's guilt!" and have Shepard visibly cringe and go "HAHA YEAH. HEY I KNOW, LET'S CHANGE THE SUBJECT!"

WIP Wednesday

Because why not! Here's an excerpt from Interrupt Feedback since the first chapter is actually taking some kind of shape :)

“And there you go,” the professor says. Her face betrays no sign of pride, but she does stand a little taller. “Your message has sent.”

Emily looks at her datapad, then back to the QEC. “Just like that?” 

“It seems simple, I know. But the power and genius that went into making that single moment possible…” her voice trails with utter wonder. “It is quite the achievement.”

Emily has no doubt. Her mind boggles at the thought of her words appearing on another screen thousands of light years away. It feels like the moment should warrant something to happen in response. Some form of acknowledgment. On a normal day at work, she would be skimming through thousands of replies by now, filtering and sharing reposts, managing feedback that proves she has an impact on others. Something about this way of reporting is just so… quiet. She feels her expectation linger and then falter, and the silence that follows is like an echo across an empty stage.

Without invitation, brief memories flash at the edges of her mind. Sitting in a service duct in the Presidium. Distant gunshots, but no voices around her anymore. Only dark stains on the floor, and the low, ticking buzz of her fingertips against the holo screen. 

She finds herself writing a second message right away.

i just suddenly realized that i had never posted the full piece that i did for the agu A Slice of Life in the 22nd Century! zine a while back, which clearly needed to be rectified asap! this was such a fun project and i really enjoyed the experience of working with @luckyspacerabbit to make this art even more interesting! you should really go check out the rest of the zine if you haven’t, there’s a lot of really cool stuff in there by a bunch of fantastic people

CONFESSION:

I will forever resent the fact Emily Wong was killed off to make room for a new character that  was  purposely created  for an IGN reporter at the time. But I'm glad that sort of pandering was called out back in the day and it never happened again. And I love how Diana Allers was NEVER in the Citadel DLC and expected an interview on the clone during the aftermath because they knew how resented the character was.

Flour & Mush (人生總有堆肥) by Emily Wong - Props & Embroidery on papers

Flour & Mush is a stop-motion animation by Hong Kong animator Emily Wong. Production started in 2019 and Emily hoped to find ways to communicate the troubled times and to create meaning. The film is about an encounter between a sack of flour and a broken tree trunk—depicting unexpectedness in everyday life. 製作於 2019 年的香港，希望能在亂世當中尋找創造意義。故事講述一袋麵粉和一根斷裂樹幹之間的相遇—描繪了日常生活中的無法預期。

I had the privilege of working with Emily as an amateur props maker in her Hong Kong studio in 2020 making baskets, flour bags, fishes and fruit and veg and then remotely in London, UK making 100+ embroideries on paper. It was a joy to work on a project that I didn't have experience in and gain the confidence and courage to create outside of my comfort zone, its been one of the best projects I've ever worked on and I'm so happy to share it with you. Forever thankful to Emily for seeing the potential in me and trusting me to create and be part of her visual world. 2022

WIP Whenever

The beloved @isayashai tagged me for some WIP sharing and, while I don't have any DA stuff to share at the moment, there is some ME material of the AU brand, featuring Xiomara and Emily Wong. (:<

I will tag @creaking-skull and @barkspawnsblog but as always, anyone who feels like sharing is welcome!

The weapon feels cold and heavy in her hand. With the way today has gone, Emily has an easier time than she expected releasing the dreg of uneasiness in her stomach. Taking one long, deep breath, she tries to focus instead on the promise of safety. She looks over at Shepard, who has a strange look she has not seen before. Her shoulders are lower, but not quite slumped — almost lax with relief. Her eyes have brightened despite the sleepless night. She switches the Glock from her right hand to the left, and her body settles into a fluid, comfortable step. Emily realizes what it is. With a weapon in hand, Xiomara Shepard is now beaming.
