Educação de Qualidade: Um Direito Universal, Seja Presencial, Híbrida ou a Distância

"A EAD não é apenas uma alternativa, mas uma ponte que conecta sonhos à realidade, democratizando o conhecimento para quem o presencial não alcança."

A Educação a Distância (EAD) tem enfrentado um boicote injusto por parte de setores que a enxergam como inferior ou incapaz de proporcionar uma formação de qualidade. Essa visão, porém, é míope e desconsidera os avanços tecnológicos e pedagógicos que a EAD incorporou nas últimas décadas. Longe de ser uma mera substituta do ensino presencial, ela se estabeleceu como uma modalidade indispensável, especialmente em um mundo que exige flexibilidade e acessibilidade.

Primeiramente, a EAD rompe barreiras geográficas e socioeconômicas. Em um país como o Brasil, onde milhões vivem em áreas remotas ou não têm condições de arcar com os custos de um curso presencial, a educação a distância oferece uma oportunidade real de aprendizado. Plataformas digitais, materiais interativos e fóruns de discussão permitem que o aluno não apenas consuma conteúdo, mas também interaja com professores e colegas, construindo conhecimento de forma colaborativa. Além disso, a flexibilidade de horários é um diferencial crucial para quem trabalha ou tem outras responsabilidades, permitindo que a educação se adapte à vida do estudante, e não o contrário.

Outro ponto é a evolução constante da EAD. Diferentemente do que muitos críticos alegam, ela não se resume a aulas gravadas e monótonas. Hoje, utiliza inteligência artificial, gamificação e metodologias ativas para engajar os alunos, garantindo um aprendizado dinâmico e eficiente. Estudos mostram que, quando bem estruturada, a EAD pode ser tão eficaz quanto o ensino presencial, com taxas de retenção e desempenho equiparáveis.

Boicotar a EAD é, na prática, boicotar o acesso à educação. É negar a milhares de pessoas o direito de estudar e se qualificar, perpetuando desigualdades históricas. Em vez de descredibilizá-la, deveríamos investir em sua melhoria, reconhecendo seu papel transformador. A EAD não é o futuro da educação — ela já é o presente, e merece respeito e apoio para continuar expandindo horizontes.

Brazil's administrative reform must prioritize efficiency and value public servant

Claudia Costin calls for greater use of probationary periods and competitive salaries for civil servants compared to the private sector

Administrative reform should not be guided exclusively by fiscal considerations but should also focus on valuing civil servants and improving efficiency in the public sector, says Claudia Costin, former Minister of Administration and State Reform during the Fernando Henrique Cardoso administration.

In an interview with Valor, Ms. Costin argues that public sector salaries should be as high and competitive as those in the private sector and that probationary periods should be more widely used to evaluate the performance of civil servants.

“Having reasonably well-paid career civil servants allows for the continuity of policies that must be state policies, not government policies,” says Ms. Costin, who also served as global director of education at the World Bank and was a member of the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Global Commission on the Future of Work. She cautions, however, that “professionalizing the public sector is a process, not something that can be resolved in one or two administrations.”

A former visiting professor at Harvard University, Ms. Costin has also taught at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), the Insper business school, and the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP) in Canada, and is considered one of the country’s leading experts on education.
