OKAY PEOPLE HEAR ME OUT
I’m usually an AU machine and Dungeon Meshi doesn’t escape its fate, so HERE GOES, modern days au, ice skating
Chilchuck is an ice skater, but he can’t make it professionally cause his small stature keeps him from clearing the minimal jump heights required in figure skating. He could however, compete in ice dancing (which scoring system is different and the required jumps are lower) BUT also because of his own height, no one really wants to partner with him. He’s also somewhat of an asshole, so he doesn’t exactly have the best rep around here.
Nonetheless, he trains tirelessly, hard at work and hoping to be able to enter competition one day. He’s friend with, and trains at the same rink as famous ice dancers couple on and off the ice Falyn Touden and Marcille Donato, 4 times world champs.
Everything change when Laios, Falyn’s brother, comes back home after living abroad, after being banned from figure skating competitions, because he keeps USING WEIRD, FORBIDDEN MOVES like the back summersault or shit like that. He did, before that, win several prizes (2 internationals gold medals and 1 world bronze), but now because of his weirdos antics he gotta retire from competitive figure skating. He visits his sister and her partner/wife, and immediately takes an interest in the lonely tiny guy who is cleaning flawless jumps and spins (chilchuck’s speciality is the axel, especially the triple, which is a notoriously difficult one) in a corner of the rink, and still laios never heard of the guy despite his level. Falyn and Marcille explains the situation to him and now he only has one idea: partnering with chilchuck for ice dancing competitions.
Chilchuck is A LITTLE weirded out by the new guy (he wants to throw him in a fire ring or something, the fuck is wrong with this dude), but after some (a lot) of insistence from laios, he accepts.
The great thing about that is that thanks to laios’s massive corpulence and strenght and chil’s super light frame they can do couple figures usually VERY hard to pull off, if not impossible, making them a force to reckon with in competition.
And somewhere along the lines, they fuck, and fall in love. (In that order)
I HOPE THIS ISN’T,,, CRINGE (eng dub chil’s voice), I genuinely adores making up aus and I love ice skatings aus and THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES….. all the nices poses to draw laios and chil, laios holding up chil in intricate and beautiful position on the ice…
If you like it, i’ll draw more 🥹
Also, yes, most of those are modeled after Yuzuru Hanyu, because he has exactly the body type i picture Chilchuck with for this au.

[NEW ENG TRANSLATION] I write songs in Serbian so my grandma can understand us too: The Joker Out frontman talks about Eurovision, his origins, and Belgrade Beer Fest
original article Written by Ljubomir Radanov for Kurir.rs english translation by @moonlvster proofread by X @ klámstrákur
Tumblr media
Even though this year's Eurovision ended a while ago, some of the participants, like the band Joker Out, are still talked about. We're referring to one of the most popular pop-rock bands in Slovenia, whose frontman, Bojan Cvjetićanin, has become a real music star. It was this great European festival that allowed his popularity to reach beyond the borders of Slovenia. Ahead of their performance at the next Belgrade Beer Fest, which will be held from the 15th until the 18th of June [2023] in Belgrade, the 24 year old of Serbian origin, otherwise a sociology graduate, talks about his Serbian origins and upcoming visit to our capital city.
This is not your first time in Belgrade?
We had our first performance at the MAC event, but this is our first concert.
What do you have planned for it?
We'll perform as long as scheduled, around an hour, plus two songs, just enough to go over the limit (laughing). We are scheduled to play for about an hour, which means we'll be able to play a good percentage of our repertoire. If the audience is quiet, we'll have to talk to them and we'll play more songs (laughing).
Will you have some time to visit Belgrade?
Unfortunately, our plan is to leave immediately, because we are to perform in Slovenia the next day. Last time, we visited commercial places, met lovely people who promised us they will show us the real Belgrade and the places that only the locals know sometime. Ask me in a year and I believe I'm going to give a much better answer.
Tumblr media
You attracted a lot of attention with your Eurovision performance.
How satisfied are you?
Eurovision is one of the biggest festivals in Europe, maybe even in the world.
It took six months of our lives and it was like a giant school trip or a travelling circus, carried out on the most professional level. We met a lot of creative people with whom we will be able to build a career abroad. We have gained a huge amount of fans. The only thing that didn't turn out how we imagined was our result, but in the end, that's less important to us than what we achieved with the audience.
Were you pleased with the score from the Serbian jury and the audience?
I thought I was going to burst with happiness when I heard we received 12 points! It was a magical moment.
Have you stayed in contact with the Serbian representative, Luke Black?
Of course. We became friends and we will probably meet at our concert in London in July.
Did you actually lose your phone at Eurovision?
It happened after the final, at an afterparty. I left it somewhere and it ended up with another country's delegation, but I got it back two days later. Still, I enjoyed not having a phone. The day after Eurovision, everyone was writing messages and being active on social media, and I spent that time with my family and friends. It was like I was in a different universe, completely calm and relieved.
How would you explain your music in terms of genre?
In 2017, we called our music 'shagadelic rock 'n' roll', based on the movie 'Austin Powers', which we adore. Our sound is an interesting mix of ex-Yu rock and roll and British pop-rock.
Who are your idols?
The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, and Slovenian bands such as Siddharta and Big Foot Mama, and the Balkan bands Bijelo dugme, Indexi, Idoli...
What do you listen to in terms of modern sound from these areas?
The bands Buč Kesidi, Keni Nije Mrtav... We haven't had time to listen to music in the past year, we were constantly in some kind of chaos and noise.
Where did the idea of expressing yourself in your mother tongue come from, like, for example, in the songs 'Ona' and 'Demoni', which are in Serbian?
Every time I play our songs to my family, my grandma, who is from Banja Luka, can't understand the lyrics entirely. I wanted her to be able to understand perfectly what the poet wanted to say, and that's how the songs 'Ona' and 'Demoni' came about. With the song 'Ona', we wanted to capture the essence of the band Idoli¹.
¹The band 'Idoli' was one of the most remarkable new wave bands based in Belgrade, active during the early 80's. They are considered one of the most outstanding and influential representatives of the Yugoslav rock music and their album 'Odbrana i poslednji dani' ('Defense and The Last Days') was voted as the greatest Yugoslav rock album of all time.
Your family's origins are interesting.
My mom's side is from Banja Luka and Lebane, and my dad's side is half from Ličko Petrovo Selo, and the other half from Croatia and Slovenia.
You also act and host. Do you have ambitions in acting?
I would love to act more and I would be very happy if I acted in more serious roles. I've always played characters that were similar to me and I couldn't fully surrender to the charms of this profession. In high school, I acted in theatre, and if I get the opportunity to do that again or to film a movie, I wouldn't run away from it.
How do you see yourself in ten years?
I would love for Joker Out to be an established band around Europe, to have two children, and to live a normal life.

okkokk a bit ranting but i noticed the oneshots ive written here between january (which was when i started writing on this acc) and may WERE FIREEEEE well atleast to me bc ive reread some of em (and yes i'll admit i have made such amateur mistakes but..) and like those feel so poetic, a piece of literature fr💀 and im saying all this because im writing a one shot after a few months (4 months maybe lol) and it just doesn't feel the same... like maybe it's me and my dumb ass thoughts or im being too hard on myself idk but it's to come out in a few days -hopefully-
well small fun facts abt me💔😥 uhm i think the reason is, i'm a language student and i don't live in a eng speaking country but during school, i have 15-20 hours worth of eng classes+homework like yk every week obv and that shit skyrocketed my eng throughout the entire yearrrr. i mean everything. the way i view the language, use it (which wasn't something i thought i was capable of till this) etc etc. im also certain abt this i be taking pilot eng tests and my scores have been so unsteady so yeah -it was never this unsteady during school-
i still consume a great deal of english media but i guess learning it at school, always practicing and exercising your brain for one matter only is different from watching rupauls drag race 😭
anyway school starts in two weeks, and i hope i'll be back in the tracks as i was and put something out here regularly -which is something i really really hope because i wanna hop on to different fandoms and broaden my horizon alongside with my writing- but yeah this year is gon be tense for me guys😥 i guess i'll have to bust my ass
maybe no one cares but whatever

Remember when I said I was gonna dice into the differences between the Eng and Spanish subs of Infinite Wealth?
WELL WAKE UP BABE, IT'S TIME FOR 'Vicky analyzes language differences'!!
Believe me when I say I would've loved to start this by dwelling on character interactions and whatnot, but as it turns out, that is a VERY time-consuming task and I'm still working on it (can you believe the Eiji-Kasuga interactions in chapter 2 ALONE take up 25 Word pages? Between Spanish subs-English translation of Spanish subs-English subs? Yeah, crazy). So, for now, let's focus on something else!
The chapter titles
As we all know by now, the English names of the chapters are all based on Elvis songs. In previous RGG games (and by that I mean the ones who actually have Spanish versions: LAD, Judgment and LJ), the chapter titles were all direct translations of their English counterparts. However, this doesn't happen in IW for the reason listed above; the meaning would pretty much be diluted, even if many Spanish speakers DO know about Elvis and have listened to his music. So, what did they do for the Spanish version:
Simple! Change the titles to Spanish songs (oldies, mostly) who convey a similar meaning. Or, as we'll see with chapter 1, a radically opposite meaning to the original, but which highlights a different side of the chapter itself/the characters personalities.
This would be a PRETTY long post if I talked about every chapter here. So, for now, let's focus on just one per post, yeah? Starting up...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In English: Doin’ the best I can
In Spanish: Voy a pasármelo bien (I’m gonna have some fun)
The songs chosen are pretty much opposites in terms of... everything, really.
In the English version, we have a very mellow Elvis song. It’s more about heartbreak than anything else, which is pretty fitting when you think about what happens in the chapter. Ichiban is living the life, with a stable job and carrying on Arakawa’s legacy (Doin' the best he can), he scores a date with Saeko and they have fun. It all comes crashing down afterwards though: Saeko rejects him then ghosts him for a year, he is exposed by the Tatara Channel and loses his job, and he goes from being ‘the hero of Yokohama’ to being at rock bottom again. At some point, after being fired, Ichiban says “Everything is back to how it used to be.” He tried his best, but it wasn’t enough (“I’ll be a dreamer, I’ll be a fool”, “Doin’ the best I can but it’s not good enough for you”).
Overall, the vibe of it is more about what goes wrong rather than the good things that happen.
Then there is the Spanish version picking a very hype song from Hombres G, a band that was very popular here in the 80s (they are still active, if anyone is interested, and they have many iconic songs under their belts. We still quote "Sufre, mamón" ('Suffer, asshole') to this day where I'm from).
The vibe is the complete opposite:
Hoy me he levantado dando un salto mortal
Echado un par de huevos a mi sartén
Dando volteretas he llegado al baño
Me he duchado y he despilfarrado el gel
Porque hoy algo me dice
Que voy a pasármelo bien
(Today I woke up doing somersaults / threw a couple eggs in my pan / doing cartwheels I made it to the bathroom / I showered and wasted the shower gel / Cause today something tells me / that I’m gonna have some fun)
Tumblr media
Sé que tengo algunos enemigos
Pero esta noche no podrán contar conmigo
Porque voy a convertirme en hombre lobo
Me he jurado a mí mismo que no dormiré solo
(I know I have some enemies / But tonight they can count me out / Cause I’m gonna turn into a werewolf / I swore to myself I won’t be sleeping alone)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Voy a cogerme un pedo'e los que hacen afición
Me iré arrastrando a casa con la sonrisa puesta
Mañana ya, si puedo, dormiré la siesta
Pero esta noche no, esta noche no
(I’m gonna get shit-faced like never before / I’ll drag myself back home with a smile still on / Tomorrow, if I can, I’ll take a nap / But not tonight, not tonight)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yes, this song is all about the positive vibes before it all comes crashing down. Even so, after things do go sideways, Kasuga is still smiling and not letting it get to him (at most, he feels like shit because he dragged Adachi and Nanba down with him). The song goes very well, not only with the ‘happy’ part of the chapter, but also with Kasuga’s personality in general. Especially the “I know I have some enemies, but they can count me out.” Cause boy does Kasuga have enemies after the Tatara exposé. And even after all that, what he is worried about is how his actions affect other people, his vibes are that pure.
Overall, I would say that, although the vibes are completely different, it works as a sort of contrast. English goes for the ‘downfall’ and the sensation of failing even after trying your best not to, which is was Kasuga was trying to do employing former yakuza through Hello Work; meanwhile, Spanish chooses to go for a more light-hearted, slightly unserious tone that just so happens to perfectly match Kasuga’s personality and how he chooses to see the good side of things despite being back at rock bottom.

The Freedom of Expression-Ep 22, Guest: Morikawa Toshiyuki
(starts with casual baseball talk between J, K, and T while watching the game)
J: Ah! Leader! We already started! The director is waving!
K: Haha, oh yeah.
J: The broadcast already started! There are aready comments coming in! We were too engrossed in the game!
K: We actually have yesterday's game on our screen here. This is the moment where Hiroshima are about to score.
J: Aghh, no! What a terrible time to start the show!
K: Yeah, haha
J: What an awful show, so insensitive! Anyway, Kaoru, please introduce yourself.
K: Yep, This is The Freedom of Expression Live, Im Kaoru from Dir en grey.
J: And I'm Joe Yokomizo.
T: And I'm Tasai from Tokyo Sports
*applause*
J: Yes, so the viewers can't see, but we are watching the game from yesterday on the channel DAZONE, between Hanshin and Hiroshima in the Climax Series. And this is just where Hiroshima score??
K: Yeah
J: But you dont care, right??!
K: Hahaha. What do you mean by that?!
J: *looks at the game* Aghhaghhh! Thats where they scored?!
K: Yeah, see. Its terrible, we might lose!! (*sarcasm - He already knows Hanshin won the game*)
J: Oh, you are awful!
K: Hahaha
J: You know, Kaoru was so happy in the dressing room, I've never seen him so smug!
K: No no...
J: Those were the kind of smiles you would never expect from the Leader of DIR EN GREY!
K: Hahaha
J: You didn't have a care in the world! Anyway, Leader, today is gonna be a kind of celebration special edition for 'THAT', right?
K: Yeah
J: And 'THAT' is...
T: Joe, don't forget about Youtube!
J: Ah, Youtube! We are broadcasting on youtube too! But hey, Youtube viewers! Only half way for you! Do not imagine that you can watch the whole thing on Youtube!
T: Joe, don't make them sad.
J: No, I mean they can see the juicy parts on youtube, and then be lured over to Niconama. Its a sophisticated trap, you see.
K: Well, yeah, right?
J: Yes, but hey, there are a lot of comments coming through on youtube too. You can see their names.
T: Yeah, like "Its the Tigers collab Happi coat!"...Yeah, it is.
J: Ok, Leader, remind everyone again what we are celebrating!
K: Well, the Hanshin Tigers have made it to the Nihon Series.
*loud applause*
J: Congratulations! They made it at last!
K: Ah, I thought this moment would never come....Eh?!
*Morikawa san enters singing the Hanshin Tigers song 'Rokkou Oroshi'*
M: 🎶Rokkou oroshi ni sassou to
souten kakeru nichirin no
seishun no haki uruwashiku
kagayaku waga na zo Hanshin Tigers
Oh oh oh oh Hanshin Tigers
Fure Fure Fure Fure🎶
(※Official Eng lyrics found here.
'Dashing swiftly through the wind blowin’ from Rokko
Like the big sun soaring in the clear blue sky
Mighty spirit of the youth shows the victor’s grace
The name that shines in glory “Hanshin Tigers”
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Hanshin Tigers
Go, Go, Go, Go!')
Congratulations!
*applause*
J: Incredible! It's today's guest, voice actor Morikawa Toshiyuki!
M: Thank you
J: Your spirits are not dampened!
M: No, really, congratulations.
J: But what are you doing here?!
M: Well, I was hoping that it would be me and Kaoru watching a Hanshin vs DeNA game today. ※T.N-Morikawa is a DeNa(Yokohama) fan.
J: Ahh, now you are in a difficult position!
M: Ah, but really, Hanshin have been so strong this year! We were well and truly beaten.
J: Kaoru, don't you have anything to say to Morikawa san?
K: About Yokohama? Well, last year WE were well and truly beaten by them! We didn't get a single win at their stadium. We couldn't win!
J: Haha, look at Morikawa san's smug face.
M: This was my face last year!
J: Haha, right?!
K: Honestly though, I'm glad we ended up with Hiroshima instead of Yokohama this time. Yokohama would have been scary!
M: Yeah, I can understand what you mean. Actually, I told Coach Miura(Coach/manager of DeNA) that I was coming on this show..
J, T, K: Ehhh?!
M: I said, 'I'm going on Kaoru from Dir en grey's show to undergo public execution...
J, K, T: Hahaha
M: Anyway, he told me to make sure to talk a lot about the greatness of Yokohama.
J: I see, I see...Uhh, we're gonna be kinda celebrating later though...
T: Joe, don't say that to our guest!
M: Hahaha
J: But hey, you've written a lot down for us to use later on, right??!
M: Yes, but why don't you explain the connecton between myself and Kaoru.
J: Oh, of course, the connection is that Morikawa san provided the narration for the Dir en grey interview special that was broadcast on WOWOW last month!
*applause*
K: Thank you!
M: Oh, no, it was my pleasure.
J: By the way, the WOWOW interview special will actually be broadcast again tonight at 2:45am...
K: Oh, great timing!
J: Right?! So everyone, please check it out. Anyway, because of this connection, here we are with Yokohama fan Morikawa for this Hanshin crelebratory special!!
T: Look at that comment! "All my fave people in a row, I'm about to have a heart attack!"
J: Ahh, wow. Hey, by the way, how did you two come around to this idea of baseball talk?
M: Well, this is actually the first time we've met.
J: Really?!
K: Yeah
J: Well, Yokohama were doing better last year, now its maybe a bit of a tougher position for you, but you are just here for your team, right?
M: Yes
J: So, just say whatever you like.
M: Haha, I'll try my best.
J: Ok, the notifications. We are always asking for comments and messages from viewers. Anything is ok, thoughts, suggestions, requests, anything. People using X, formerly Twitter, can use the hastag TFOE to contact us. Anyone can watch the first half of the show for free, but you need to be a member to watch to the end. If you become a member, you can watch these broadcasts in the archives for one year, and also enjoy members only videos. So please use the link at the top if your screen to join, Leader, point to it please, and enjoy the show to the end. Ok, lets just take this moment to properly introduce Morikawa san. Tasai san, could you?
T: Well, he needs no introduction, I'm sure you all know him, but he has had a career in voice acting spanning 40 years! He has worked in anime, narration, dubbing for foreign movies...He is even known as the king of BL anime. In anime he had voiced Ubuyashiki Kagaya in Demon Slayer, Takumi in NANA, Nick in Zootopia, the second voice for Nohara Hiroshi in Crayon Shin-chan, and so many more that its impossible to count them! For foreign movies, he has voiced the dubs for Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible, for Keanu Reeves...I mean, even just those two are exciting enough! And if you go to Disney Sea, you will also hear Morikawa san's voice in certain areas of the park too.
J: Ah, incredible! Well, it would be great to hear some stories from the world of voice acting from you, but for the main part I wanna try and stick to baseball talk.
M: Hanshin talk, right? Hanshin winning, right?
J: Yeah, hey by the way, speakIng of your work, are you actually in a band too?
M: Oh yeah, kinda. Its like a vocal unit with fellow voice actor Tachiki Fumihiko san. He has quite a husky voice. So its him and me, and we are called '2Hearts'. But both of us tend to have a really busy VA schedules, so its actually a miracle if ever our schedules coincide...in one sense we are a miracle pairing, haha.
J, K, T: Hahaha
M: I'm hoping we can actually do more with that.
J: You did the narration for Dir en grey's interview special, so that must mean you were aware of Dir en grey?
M: Of course, I knew of them. But I'm quite seperated from the music world in general, so since I was asked to do the narration, I've done a bit of checking online, sorry!
K: No, no
M: But I thought you guys were really cool! As for rock, I like hard rock most. I LOVE Guns and Roses, I used to listen to nothing else! Years ago when I went to LA, I went to see them in West Hollywood in this venue called Troubadour. Its a really old place, The Doors, and Jim Morrison etc have played there before. Anyway, I was able to join them on stage! I'm just a VA, but I told them I was an artist, and they let me sing! I love them so much. There's also the venue called Whisky a go go, right? Thet let me on stage there too!
T: Did you sing there??
M: No, I didn't sing there, just went onstage.
J: On this topic, do you have any questions for Kaoru about the music world?
M: Well, you've come so far with one band, but don't the members ever feel like going in different directions? Haven't they changed their outlook since starting the band?
K: Hmm, yeah. Well, things do come up sometimes which we have to discuss and work out, but generally yeah, we haven't changed all that much. No one has ever really directly said, 'We need to do this!' or ' We need to go like this!' or that kind of thing. Someone might say something like, 'I'd like to do something like this for the next album', but no one has ever actually tried to force the band a certain way.
M: Ahh, but still, to continue on like this...the members must all be of the same feeling.
J: Isnt it kinda like family, being in a band?
K: If it were like family, wouldn't you eventually wanna leave though?
J: Ah, ok, yes. If you are with them constantly, you wanna leave home..
M: Like, 'I'm leaving home!' haha
K: Yeah, hahaha.
J: Hey, a comment just came in saying Morikawa san's songs are also really cool! Is it that you were having musical differences with the partner in your vocal unit?
M: No, no, its simply that both our schedules are too busy.
J: I see, ok, haha. Lets just leave it at that. Uh, so I'd like us to focus on baseball if we can. Yokohama didn't do so well this year, but Morikawa san, how long have you actually been a fan of Yokohama.
M: Oh, I've been going to watch them for as long as I can remember, my parents would take me...as Yokohama fans. Well, the team are the Yokohama DeNA Baystarts now, but back then they were called the Yokohama Taiyou Whales.
J: Ahhh yes! The first baseball hat I ever bought was a Yokohama Taiyou Whales hat! I liked that player, John Sipin!
M: Then why did you become a Hanshin fan??
J: No, no, this is just for this show!
M, K, T: Hahaha
J: I honestly know nothing about baseball though.
K: Surely you never wore that?!
J: No, I did in elementary school. There wasn't anything else going on in those days, there wasn't pro-soccer, or anything like that.
M: But to wear a Taiyou baseball hat then, that was ahead if its time!
J: Yes! The orange and green, right?! It was a forerunner, right? You would get bullied just for wearing it!
K, M, T: Hahah
M: Anyway, since that time I've been going to the Kawasaki stadium, and also the Meiji Jingu stadium. Actually, back then the stands in the Jingu stadium were all just earth/soil. I used to be always sat with my back to the game digging holes in the mud, and the Taiyou players would get mad at me.
K, J, T: Hahaha
M: Like, 'Oi, start supporting us!!'. There were that few people there, that the players would shout over to me for more support!
J: Haha, so empty! You couldn't even get away with taking your eyes off the game?
M: Right!
J: Conversely, the players should have been focussing on what they were doing! Nevermind looking at you!
M: Haha, yeah. So since then we have gone a looong time without any major wins.
J: From my point of view, its seems like Hanshin and Yokohama are both the same kinda 'often losing' team.
K: Thats right.
M: Hanshin have been Japan champions once before, right?
K: Yes
J: What about Yokohama?
M: Twice! Twice! hahaha.
J: Omg, no fair! The Giants and such are always winning!
M: The fist time Yokohama won was in the 1960s.
J: What?! The same era as the Vietnam war?! What are you saying? Don't you have anything more recent to celebrate??
K: Haha
M: Well, they won again more recently in 1998.
T: The Machine Gun lineup?
M: Yes, thats right. So I took a day off work then, and celebrated with them from the stands.
J: Ah, you were there? So you understand how Kaoru feela now?
M: Yes, I do. But for Kaoru, the real fight starts from here, right? You are aiming for No.1 in Japan, right?
K: Yeah
M: So if it all goes smoothly, Hanshin will be number 1, they will enjoy celebrating, and then by next season they can return back to the lower levels to cool off....
K: Hahaha
J: Ah, harsh! Next year will be the Baystars' year?
M: I hope so!
J: Thats harsh, pulling Hanshin down off their pedestal like that!
K: Haha
J: Morikawa san, I like your character!
M: No, but you know, once the players reach their goal of becoming No.1 in Japan, they have a lot going on. They will have their celebratory trip, they will be pampered in all their interviews...
J: They will appear on tv shows too.
M: Yes, so following all this, its back to the grind.
J: By the way, Kaoru, we will talk more about this in the second part, but did you think the Baystars were strong this year?
K:. Yeah, but Hanshin were stronger. haha. Last year we were totally beaten by them though.
M: Yeah, but since Okada became the manager of Hanshin, they've really transformed.
K: Our opening match this season was with Yokohama, and we had a good start straight away, so I was excited about that.
J: You thought it might happen?
K: Yeah, oh, also, last year and the year before, Yakult came out top in the Central league, but this year they were in 5th place. So its like Morikawa san said, about slumping after you win.
M: Yeah, Yalkult's slogan this year is 'Ok, lets go'...
J,K,T: Hahaha
M: Go where???
J: It sounds like to just go shopping or something, haha.
M: So you can really tell where they're at now by looking at their slogan.
T: What was Yokohama's slogan this year?
M: It was, 'Yokohama Challenge'.
J: Oh, Challenge is a good word. What was Hanshin's slogan again?
K: THAT (アレ/A.R.E)
J: Oh, thats what THAT was?? I didn't realise that was the slogan!!
K: Hahaha
J: They won with that slogan?? Maybe I should make THAT my life motto!...Ok, I think we still have a bit more time on the free section....Yes, I finally understand what THAT means. But Hanshin have had a lot of different managers before, right? This year's manager, Okada, if you even just look at his face, he is shocking.
T: Joe, don't say that.
K: He has a serious look.
J: He does! What do you think is good about him?
K: Well, he believes in the team. He was saying, Why couldn't the team win last year, even with this great lineup?? So he is just making most of the team.
J: Morikawa san, what do you think it is that has made Okada lead the team to victory?
M: He is unwavering. Since he started the role...There was one time this season where, what was it again? That thing with one of the other directors about changing the pitcher. I really thought he was determined when I saw that. He envisions the future victory over the of situation right in front of him. Some fans and other people were questioning his decisions previously, but now they don't really. I think maybe he is also a bit difficult to approach. For those young player, he is too much of a legend, there is quite a distance between them. I think thats a good thing. Like, even if he gets too serious...
J: He has a kind of dignity about him, or a kind of simultaneous dignity and foolishness.
K: Yeah, so he doesn't even have to say things directly.
J: Really? I see. Is it also that he prioritizes the team as a whole over individual players skills, and that mindset has then permeated the team?
M: Yes, there is an element of that.
T: Tasai, whats your opinion?
T: Well, just as the others have said, but also, if you look at the Pacific league, teams like Orix and Lotte are always changing up their batting order, they don't really play baseball with a fixed shape, wheres Hanshin are really playing and winning 'proper' baseball, by keeping a solid team each time.
K: They havnt really changed up their order at all since starting the season.
J: Oh, is that unusual?
K: Well, it used to be the norm, but teams change up their order more often these days.
J: Oh, look at the screen! Its showing footage from 1985.
K: This was the year Hanshin got to No.1 in Japan.
M: Okada was a player then, right?
K: Yes, he was.
J: I'm not entirely sure if my memory serves me right, but was that also when Kakefu san and Bass san were in the team.
K: Yes, yes. Thats when Colonel Sanders was thrown into the river.
J: Oh, that was then?! Osaka people are crazy!
K, T, M: Hahaha
J: Why on earth did they throw Colonel Sanders into the river??
K: Cause it looks like Bass!
J: Really?? They need their brains checking! I don't understand that at all, haha. I didn't know it was thrown in because it looked like Bass. Ahhh. If you compare 1985 to this year, how are they different?
K: Oh, they are totally different.
M: The style of baseball is different too.
J: Ok, please explain, I'm sure there are many viewers like me who know nothing. How is the style different?
K: There used to be...what was it called, the lucky zone. It made it easier to get home runs, if your hit landed in there. It was like a fence, slightly inward from the wall.
M: In high school baseball too, the lucky zone became kinda like a bullpen.
J: Oh I see. But now it doesn't exist?
K: No, it used to be easier to get a home run.
J: Ahh, I see. Well, I suppose the game changes as technology advances. And the pitchers must be throwing different balls too.
K: Yeah, their throwing speed is much faster.
J: How fast can they throw?
T: They can easily throw at 150km these day.
J: Wow, thats amazing, I didn't know that. I gave up watching baseball a long time ago, but I'm giving my all with it just for today.
T: Actually, I have a question for Morikawa san...What would you say was the one thing the Baystars were missing this year, which would have helped them win? From the fans' perspective.
J: Ahh, thats a tough question! Don't we need alcohol yet?
M: No, its ok. Well, before the season started, all the fans agreed that the lineup we had ready was going to give us the best chance to win. But the reality was that after the season started, the conditions of each individual player didn't combine to make the team we had hoped for. It wasnt the right balance, and of course Yamazaki etc were unwell. And then there was Soto, he joined the team midway during corona, and he was here from the start of the season this year. But he somehow didn't excel. A lot of the players who we had placed high expectations on didn't quite fullfill their potential. They couldn't keep the batting line connected. The pitchers did a god job, but their fatigue started to show in the later stages. While we were busy trying to figure out how to retain a good balance, Hanshin just shot off into the lead.
K: But at one point Yokohama did catch up so there was one one game between us.
M: Yeah, that was our peak, haha. We thought we were on a roll then, we we actually just sunk straight down after that.
K: I had thought that might be the end for Hanshin.
J: Weren't you pretty happy in the early stages??
K: No, no. As I said before, I couldn't trust the team. I thought our only future was to start losing.
M: As for the balance between the six teams, Chunichi just couldn't win. All the other five teams were determined not to lose against them.
J: If you lost against them you were hopeless?
M: Yes, and then Yakult found themselves falling.
T: And then The Giants suffered bit.
M: Oh, 10 in a row, right?
J: Morikawa san, no wonder you have no time for your band activity, you are too busy watching baseball!
M: Haha, no I watch it at night, I record the games and watch them later.
J: Ahh, you really love it though. Ok, so we are at about 30 mins now, so we have come to the end of the first part of the show. When we start the second part we will do Kanpai, and get straight into the party to celebrate..is it the Central league win?
M: No, the CS (Climax Series) win.
J: Ah, ok. So ever, please have a drink ready to join us for that. That will make it a bit more exciting for those of you like me who know nothing about baseball. So, everyone please become a member. M: Announcements? Not Yokohama related? Haha. Well, I'm currently featuring in a movie showing nationwide, called The Creator. I'm doing the voiceover for Ken Watanabe for some reason.
K: Wow!
M: So please check it out in theaters. I'm Ken Watanabe!
T: Thats interesting, haha.
J: How many actors have you provided voice-overs for so far?
M: I've never counted, you count them.
J: Not like 100?
M: Oh no..
T: Its more like 10,000.
K: You know, Ken Watanabe is also a Hanshin fan.
J: Morikawa san, how far are you gonna stray into away territory?!
M: Very, haha.
J: I feel for you wearing that shirt.
M: Actually, yesterday, I mean this morning, I was speaking to Mizuki Nana, who sung the naitonal anthem and Rokko Oroshi at the first game of the Climax series. She was telling me she was trembling, singing the national anthem at such an important game before the whole stadium. Anyway, thats a bit of trivia for you.
J: Really?
K: It was our first time hosting a CS final at Koshien too.
J: Oh, I see. Hey, how about Dir en grey doing that?
K: Doing what??
J: Singing the national anthem.
K: Who would sing it??
J: I don't know...You could, Kaoru!
K: Haha, no way.
J: You can do it Kaoru! We'll be supporting you!! Anyway, Kaoru, any announcements?
K: Uh, the tour starts from next month, so please check it out.
J: How are preparations going?
K: Getting there.
J: Oh good. Haha, yeh, someone commented 'Metal growl opening ceremony'. Anyway, please check out the tour if you can. We will have a quick break here while we change over to the members only content with more from Morikawa san, so wait right there. Back soon! 'I became a member!' Thank youuu!

Saga: Rivals - 25
Writer: Akira
Season: Winter
Characters: Tori, Chiaki, Hokuto, Jin
Proofreading: moricchiichan (JP) & Peace (ENG)
Translation: kotofucius
Chiaki: I took your hand because I wanted to turn the sorrowful look on your face into a smile — Whatever hurdles come my way, I won’t give up!
Tumblr media
[Read on my blog for the best viewing experience with Oi~ssu ♪]
Location: Reverse Live Stage
Time: Hours later, Reverse Live is reaching its finale.
Tori: Hey, hey, look over there! The regulars who always come to the autograph events we’ve been holding since summer — they all came to cheer us on~♪
The venue was so full I didn't notice ‘til now!
But I saw fine’s long-time fans making a riot over former fine sitting together on the staff seating area, and then —
That's when I noticed them!
Tumblr media
Tori: A group in the audience wearing Rain-bows merchandise all over their bodies, yelling our names~!
Doesn’t it fire you up?!
The other Mentor-Disciple units besides Lilith are surprisingly easy opponents, and we’ve scored lots… We can totally win this!
Hehe, “Victory”! I haven’t heard a word that suits me better!
Reverse Live is about to end, so we’ve gotta focus and give our bestest! Hip-hip-hurray~☆
Tumblr media
Chiaki: ……
Tumblr media
Hokuto: ……
Tori: Huh?! Why are you so gloomy, senpai?! What’s wrong? Getting tired?
Even Sagami-sensei’s not old enough to whine about not having enough stamina, right?
Jin: Haha. Sorry, sorry, we shouldn’t be looking depressed. Hey, guys… I get how you feel, but buck up.
It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for; so shouldn’t we be raring to go instead?
Himemiya. Lilith just appointed us Rain-bows as their next opponent.
We’re supposed to take the stage according to our turn in the queue, so we’ve gotta wait... one, two — three more turns 'til our fight.
More and more units are exiting the competition, so our turn’s starting to come around fast, too.
Tori: Ohh… so it’s finally time to face Lilith? This is gonna be the showdown between the best of the best, isn't it?
Rain-bows and Lilith are currently the top scorers, after all!
Jin: To be precise, Lilith is the top scorer with a huge score difference from the rest of us.
The way we’re placed, it's more like…Turning the tides miiight not be completely impossible if we can hang on 'til the end.
Hokuto: Yeah. So we definitely can’t lose. We have no place to run since we’re not supposed to reject challenges, so all we can do is face them head-on.
Chiaki: No, if we can win against Lilith here, it’ll be an excellent chance to top their score.
We’ll get to lessen the gap by reducing their score, and make the audience aware of our strength.
Tumblr media
Hokuto: Right. It’ll steer the situation to our favor — we can make a complete reversal at the end.
It’s annoying to have some newbie controlling the venue, anyway. Let’s show them that we’re the leading stars of Project-Saga.
Jin: Ahaha. I get your determination, but we’re pretty much the same level of skill…
Nah, since they’re currently winning with a huge lead, that makes them the better fighters.
Best chance is we’ll find ourselves in a close race, even if we fight with all our might. And if this close race ends in our loss, the damage done to our score would be devastating.
Though with the amount we’ve gathered, we won’t have to withdraw on the spot, of course.
But no other unit matches up to Lilith, so it’ll set their victory in stone.
From there, it’ll be Lilith’s one-man show.
Lilith will be feasting on the remaining units for fun, showing off their spoils to their fans… to their people.
Project-Saga’s future trend will be decided, too. They’ll be the new main characters… and it’ll be my turn to be the underdog.
Hokuto: …I see. It must’ve been his plan since the beginning; Father made efficient preparations to the fine details to create this situation.
His tactical insight is formidable. He’s supposed to be unused to DreamFests, too.
Tori: Nn~ I wonder 'bout that… Something’s bugging me, but I can’t figure out exactly what.
But on that note, you guys are too hung up on this, even if I get why. 'Specially you, Hidaka-senpai.
If you shrink ‘cause you feel overpowered by the opponent, you’re gonna lose a battle you could’ve won.
Show me what you’re made of, as a revolutionary who cheekily opposed even us, the Student Council.
Hokuto: …Yeah, you’re right. I can’t be overwhelmed by my opponent.
We’re going to slay the giant instead — that’s more my style. Will you lend me your aid… Sagami-sensei, Morisawa-senpai, Himemiya?
Tumblr media
Chiaki: Fuhaha. What are you saying? We've been fighting with you since the start! We’re comrades of the same destiny, at least while we’re wearing this Rain-bows outfit!
I’ll fight with my life on the line. I took your hand because I wanted to turn the sorrowful look on your face into a smile — Whatever hurdles come my way, I won’t give up!
Believe me. It’ll be fine. We can overcome anything.
Tori: Yup, yup. They’re not the only ones with advantages, anyway. We’ve gained lots of fans from autograph sessions and the like, thanks to having been active the longest.
On the other hand, Lilith just debuted. They’re newbies, even if Hidaka Seiya-san is a legendary idol.
He said it himself too: as far as Project-Saga’s concerned, he’s a nameless new face.
It seems he’s gathered his fans here by any means necessary… but they still don’t make up the majority of the audience.
No, even if they do, let’s fight with the intention to walk off with all of your dad’s fans.
When you do, won’t you finally feel like you’ve defeated him?
Tumblr media
Hokuto: Yeah… You’re right, I'd be overjoyed. He didn’t give me much of what I wanted when I was a child.
If he won’t give me a present, then I’ll just wrest it out of his grasp. I’ve grown tall and strong enough to do that.
I’ll make him know that, and he’ll never dare to call me Hocchan anymore.
He’ll get down on all fours and call me Hokuto-sama — and I’ll be laughing at him.
Tumblr media
Jin: Ahaha. Nothing for me to say, then.
Dearest students, you've all come so incredibly far that your ol' teach's over the moon to witness it. It's even got me thinking it was for the best that I retired so early to become a teacher.
Sure, I’d feel guilty for my fans if I said that out loud; this isn’t something to joke about…
But y'know, it’s as if I've been passed out in the freezing rain for a long time, but when I lifted my face, what I saw above me was a beautiful rainbow.
I really am such a lucky man… Oh man, I’m getting tears in my eyes.

PART 2
The Nordmark pod interview translated SWE-ENG
I have left out Per Nordmarks moments of reminiscence..
Please excuse things lost in translation and lack of knowledge in the English language 🙈
I also want to say that translation from spoken words to written can be quite challenging at times..
Enjoy fellow Ghostie's 👻🖤🇸🇪
T: -For my part it's very important. It was this, that was so fucking hard on that tour, i didn't get to have my days off. Days off,, you don't need them because you don't want to play, but to break the repetetiveness. On the level we are, in my regim and the way i want to do it i really feel we should do that. Mainly because we aren't 19 anymore. We are, we must keep up, we have to stay in shape to make it work. So when on the road there isn't much party and no more than to see to you're in shape and been sleeping enough. Stuff like that. A really good way to get out of shape is to get wasted drinking. It really makes you feel like shit.. It's fucking awesome a couple of days and the it's -Oh Fuck! But instead it can be really good to, it's gold when you have TWO days off, Then we always do it like this, the few times we have two days off. It doesn't happen often but when it does we always have a tour crew party. The first day so everyone get a day off after. It's very important.
……
T :No people tend to think it's like travelling. Like a vacation. And it isn't', It really isn't, and i believe, when you're not in a touring band or a professional like that. I think you have a vision that being a professional musician and touring a lot ,is like, creative,, -And it isn't. It's kind of repetitive. There are creative periods..-And of course you can have creative moments when ever. And I, I come up with ideas all the time, building for the next step or figure out something new. But the "work" in itself is repetetive.
….
N: Its not like, write a bunch of new songs on tour.
T: I can't do it like an obligation.
T: I think one may do yourself a disservice.. Have you ever brought a book to read on tour and ended up not reading it? It's classical and i've done it so many times, and eventually figured out, -I won't do that. I pack lighter and simplify things. And in that same fashion i plan my days now. It's based on me,, all the time, is here to work. The, my days off now.. One thing i do, and i like really much, when i have free time, and come to cities i've been to for several times, and especially when you have mate there, then the best thing is to visit them in their home. Or, just hanging out with someone "sightseeing" with someone who knows the town. Or, have a friend flown in and make a "tourist thing" together, a side step.
Because then you'll Moon walk in the the next day and -Fuck Yeah! Let's do this!!
…..
One thing! I give can you a tip. Now, someone who do professional soccer or Soccer in general. Correct me if i'm wrong. But, one thing i always do, especially if i feel a bit down in the dumps for some reason. It's like, in the dressing room i put You Tube on. And put on a video with something you're sure of made you want do to what you do. You know..Like: " Let's spend the night together".. Queen live, you know, Wembley -85/-86. Like that! Something that makes you OUUHAHH !!! Then i remember my dream and how far i am. And i've thought of this when it comes to soccer or hockey, or whatever. Like -"Do you ever play a compilation of"… Well, kids of today what do they like, closest to it gotta be "Zlatan".. Because, our generation it would be "Maradona" or.. "Don't you play a compilation of his greatest goals"? -No, never.. -"Why not!! It's ga ga ga, It's that, that is the dream. Damit! Like "Iniesta" scoring the last goal, last second, and wins the whole thing. That's the whole idea with this. I believe! ( "who never played soccer").. Or Freddie Mercury Wembley -85 or -86 It's the whole idea with why i want do this. So you have to remind yourself of the of the dream.. -Then i'm back on track.
…..
..
N: Did you ever doubt if you ended up in the right place?
T: Eh, ahh,, In connection to being part of "Crash Diet" (or the Crash Diet that we were part of, that was something different than it became later) my world opened up. I grew up with, with very melodic music like . Ehh, i went, it was a mix and came from a mixed, but everything have always came out of rock. But A lot of Pop radio and all that it was in the eighties, and like, the legacy of the seventies eem, Then it was my brothers music. He listened to everything from Hard Rock, Ee. to punk and synth, and a lot of stuff. And then there was my moms sixties influence. So when i had been digging around in death metal and black metal in almost ten years,, -Yes when i was 22 i'd been doing death metal since i was 12. So for ten years nurturing a dream. If I'll be completely honest with my dream for Repugnant it was to,, It was "old school death", but i thought i somewhere, it would be possible to make it a "thing" or something. I thought, if [Tobias mentions a couple of band names, can't hear what i says] can do it. Or Pestilence or the fuck, others. I thougt we'd be signed with Road Runner going on tour supporting Slayer. Like, i wanted to become a real band. There were so many bands before us that had made it.. And i couldn't understand why we were ..But we was so extremely out of date, we didn't work in the era we where in, in the end of the nineties. So, in the beginning of the twenties, i was about 20 then, it started to show up a lot of "rock stuff" Both in Sweden, it was sort of rock, its hard, to without sounding harsh but i don't mean anything by it, but like action rock, easy rock and all that. In 2000-02 And there was the strikes and Frans Ferdinand and all that happened. So i went like, -The fuck, wait! Like i also want to play melodic music too. Because i have it im me. Eh mm.. And it was like tricky in the beginning. I met David Hellman, or Dave Leppard. Ehm..and he also wanted to play rock eeh.. and then it showed he wanted to do sleezy rock, While i was more like…My sleeze taste, i definitely don't mind the seventies glam rock, and i like Guns 'n' roses, but, but Aeeh, and Skidrow will do, But then There are a lot of stuff definitely! don't like. And he really wanted to go all in on Poison, Some of Stryper and a lot of other stuff and shit that i absolutely didn't like. So i felt in someway that i can't do this. This is not. And on top of that, it was his band and i .. Nope, fuck it!.And then i strarted a pretty long experimental phase of not really finding my way home..

N: Asking about Onkel Konkel..
T : No, it was only three gigs
N: How did that happen?
T: Thomas the drummer from Repugnant, and at the time also Crash Diet and Subvision. Thomas was one of my best buddies and we played in several bands together. I remember it something like this -Thomas, you right me if i'm wrong. Because i might be. But i recall it something like this. Bengtsson, all ours Bengtsson from Cafe 44, came up to him like -"Du you want to play in Onkel Konkel". And he told me this story. And i , what the hell .. I also want in. So, well, Thomas told them i said that -"So you can come to the next rehearsal" And they probably just done one before. And then Bengtsson had put together a band for Håkan. Who then would act in these three gigs that were booked
N: And that was the only gigs..?
T: Yes, the only gig before that was in Hultsfred -93
N: Was there a gig before "Sondtrack of our lives".. bc one of the gigs were on " Nalen"
T: Yes, its very possible Soundtrack played the day before or after..
N: I've heard somewere you're in to horror movies. Old horror movies.?
T: Yes, Yeah
N:,Have you been inspired by film music aswell?
T: Very much, absolutely. And, well i don't know how to elaborate that, umm, To me, besides me liking, i'm interested in cinematic in general. But i got stuck early, for different reasons, for different horror movies. Once again I'll have to explain it by me having a pretty liberal upbringing. A very liberal home where there weren't any actual rules, more like guide lines. But you know it was the eighties,, And it worked with just a note from my mom to show at the video store. And then i could rent anything i wanted.

T: I'm VERY afraid of the dark. Regretfully i am, and i was so early on.
….
… ..
T: But if one should try looking at it with a " the glass is half full"l perspective. It's probably all about having a vivid imagination. And the critical thought in it all would be one watching to much and that it started it all, but I'm not sure .. There were a heck of a lot of delusions long before horror movies was a thing. Like, read "All the creatures of the woods" That people have made up totally uninfluenced by horror movies. So i believe one have a relatively elastic mind. And just aswell as one can come up with a funny joke or something, one also have the possibility to go down the dark corridor, make it something creepy.
Even if realistically i understand it probably isn't something out there, in the woods…
