Description:

When a study for this work was exhibited in 1889, a quotation attributed to St. Augustine of Hippo was attached to it "illuminate, oh illuminated my blind soul that sitteth in darkness and the Shadow of Death". The Soul sits in its prison (the body) awaiting its release into the light beyond the prison window - the release of death. This echoes the painter's Spiritualist belief, that the body is merely an earthly shell, an encumbrance, which the spirit longs to cast off in death, to move into the sun of the spirit-spheres.

I'm unemployed on my period = drooling over Gordon Setters I'm devouring every text and image available online everything I read I'm like oh my god they're perfect...dogs that can excel at obedience but also notoriously think about whether they wanna listen and shut down if you're even slightly commanding..dogs that are placid around canine and human strangers but really only like 1 person...I have a setter wound

i really have loved being in japan in general so far but most of my students are so fucking mean to me 😭😭 like they’re just so so sooo mean they parrot and mock me when i call someone’s name and laugh when i talk in general and it’s like how am i supposed to curry their favor or gain their respect when they are openly making fun of me from the second i walk into their classroom for the first time💀
