“Heeseung!” you exclaim, just getting home from a late night shift. “Heeseung?” “He’s probably asleep” you thought.

A step before you went inside your bedroom, and you hear giggling. “I mean she is quite ugly right? You know I could do better!” A familiar female voice said.

“Ah-ri?” You thought. Why do you hear your best friend inside your bedroom? “I agree, she looks like a pig. Everyone knows you’re prettier.” The male voice said.

Laughter erupted.

“What the fuck you guys?” You said, barging in. “Oh, um y/n! What are you doing here?” Ah-ri asked. “I live here, what are you doing here?” You yelled, tearing up. “Cheating on me?” You asked. “It’s not what it looks like y/n!” Heeseung said.

“Okay.But it looks like we’re breaking up Heeseung.” You said, with a heart broken in half. “I promise, everything I said was a joke!” “Then why is she in bed with you?” You screamed, crying. “You have 10 minutes to pack and leave.”

“But where will I go?” He asked, with a tone that made you fall for him the first time you meet him. “No idea, this is all on you.” You said, planning to get revenge on him. ��Out! Now!” You screamed. As the two people who were the only reason to keep you going, broke your heart, scrambled out of your apartment. You broke down, crying even harder. What is that lonely heart cut in half, going to do without its other half?

sunghoon follows you down the big hill, watching as you ramble on about your sisters and where their whereabouts were going to be in the next year. truthfully, sunghoon couldn’t care less about them. instead he thinks about following you to the ends of the earth.

“we could run away and be pirates,” you joke, turning to face him. he’s beautiful, you think. with the wind combing through his jet black hair and the setting sun beaming just right on his porcelain skin; he truly seemed to be an angel that had landed and took up a small, but significant place in your heart.

sunghoon stops. he has this look on his face, one that you can’t quite read. until it dawns on you— he loves you.

“please don’t,” you say, lips flipping into a tight frown.

“it’s no use, yn. yn, we’ve got to have it out—i have loved you ever since i’ve known you. i couldn’t help it. and i tried to show you,” sunghoon steps closer when you step away, hands reaching for your own. “please give me an answer because i cannot go on like this.”

you shake your head even more when he says this. instinctively, you jerk your arm away when he tries to reach for it and a look of hurt flashes across his face. sunghoon gulps and steps back, stuffing his hands in his pockets (a habit you learned he had when he was nervous). you want to scoop him up and tell him you’re sorry and that you love him but you just can’t.

“just say you’ll marry me, please.”

you swallow the lump in your throat and force the words to form into coherent sentences. “i can’t.”

the desperate look on sunghoon’s face makes you want to cry. he nods slowly, processing your words, the ones he was so afraid of.

“why not?”

your throat dries up and your hands get clammy. why couldn’t you tell him? you loved him, didn’t you?

“we’d both be unhappy! you’d hate social gatherings and i’d hate the lack of interactions. we’d be a mess, and it would be awful and we’d both regret it—“

“but do you love me?” his voice wavers ever so slightly when he says this.

“that doesn’t matter hoon,” you turn away from him and face the blazing, setting sun instead. you blink away your tears and use your sleeve to wipe away the residue. you didn’t even realize that you’d been crying.

“it matters to me.” sunghoon reaches for your wrist and gently turns you around to face him. you realize he’s been crying too. “i’ll wait for you, yn. i’ll wait for your love.”
