Hello ! I don't know why, but I just had the idea of a raccoon!creator that is in the Fortress of Meropides because he had stole a lot of things. I can easily imagine the trial with humans or hybrids against a raccoon that is just trying to defend itself.

Raccoon!Creator will just be a silly thief who was the first raccoon (and animal) sent to Meropides to serve time in prison because of crimes it committed.

It was that trial that all of Fontaine seemed to collectively realize that even the animals of Fontaine followed the rules and laws… huh.

Watching that trail felt like a fever dream. Wriothesley wasn’t one to come to see trials, but upon hearing it was a Raccoon… he had to. And so had everyone else apparently because it was a full house. Also watching a Raccoon defend itself was.. and experiencing.

The Warden genuinely felt like he was having an out of body experience the second the bars closed on Racoon who was glaring up at him. Your eyes bore into his soul in a way none of the other prisoners were able to. It genuinely shook him.

The worst part and most disturbing is what you stole.

Yuto Kamishiro - Salvage Showcase

Oh boy! First Showcase of the year! Whose gonna be the first one of DR0 to be up?

Oh.

Summary

Yuto Kamishio is the Ultimate Spy and a member of the 77th batch of Hope's Peak Academy. He is also a major character in Danganronpa Zero, being an ally and source of information for Ryoko Otonashi as she goes throughout novel's bloody events.

Ryoko first meets Yuto following a horrific discovery of one of the Steering Committee members dead, with her notebook at the scene of the crime. In a panic, Ryoko rushed over to the student dorm's to get to Yasuke, but he wasn't there. Instead, his neighbor Yuto hears her and goes out to see what's wrong. He meeets Ryoko and informs her that Yasuke is out and offers to help her, but she runs off after reading about the dead body she forgot, and asks for Yuto relay the message that she's looking for Yasuke.

He makes his second appearance in Yasuke's lab, using his talent to get by and watch the proceedings without anyone being aware of his presence. From it, he was able to hear all about the conversation both had concerning the dead body she found to the topic of Junko Enoshima. Yuto revealed himself after Yasuke left and after explaining his talent (and desire to be a spy that saves the world), offers his services to Ryoko. He explains the rumor regarding the tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy (how 15 students disappeared from the school, fourteen being student council members, and 13 ended up dead). and how it was Junko Enoshima that not only spread the rumor to the Reserve Course, but was being investigated for it prior to her disappearance.

It's then that Yuto 'makes a deal' (a one-sided one that is). In exchange for solving the incident, he wants to screw Ryoko and kinda just leaves in spite of her clearly thinking otherwise.

He makes another appearance after Mukuro defeats Mishiki Madarai, revealing he's been in the room with Makoto and Ryoko for a while. Letting Mukuro deal with Madarai, and giving an order to not mention what really happened to the security dept of Hope's Peak, Yuto takes Ryoko with him to the cafeteria in the school's East District.

At the cafeteria, its Yuto sharing his findings with Ryoko. From his many (illegal) wiretaps on hundreds of women, he ended up wiretapping a conversation with Ryoko and Junko, which is then used to learn from Ryoko's notebook that Junko claims she's gonna kill Yasuke and crush the culprit of Hope's Peak Tragedy - the missing, Izuru Kamukura. It's during this conversation that Yuto brings up the likelihood of Yasuke definitely being involved in the interrogation of Junko. After warning Ryoko of Junko and Yasuke's possible connection, Yuto leaves.

He makes his final appearance in the old school building. Thanks to his talent, he's easily able to sneak in and finds Ryoko (who was let in due to her own 'special cirumstances' that she would be unaware of at the time). Yuto is there because he learnt the old school was connected to the incidents.

By now, he's aware of Junko being involved in kidnapping of the Steering Committee members and even the fact that Izuru wasn't the true culprit of the Student Council murders. Junko masterminded the incident and Yasuke was one of her accomplices. Yuto and Ryoko travel via the secret elevator to Izuru's chamber. Yuto's goal is to rescue Izuru, and uncover the true culprits to become the savior of Hope's Peak Academy...

However, he would never get fulfill his dream. Yasuke was nearby and, while Ryoko wasn't looking, killed Yuto by snapping his neck and twisting his head 180 degrees. All to prevent Yuto from uncovering the truth.

Contrasting his childish appearance and personality, Yuto is a huge pervert who frequently makes perverted comments and innuendos to girls, with a very clear desire in trying to screw them (in this case usually just Ryoko). It's to the point that he goes about breaking the law with his wiretaps to spy on hundreds of women in school locker rooms or bathrooms. Yuto also has a major sweet tooth, often carrying around bags of pastries to chew on during conversations.

Yuto is also fame hungry, desiring to stop the incidents in Hope's Peak to boost his own reputation, with his dream being to finally make himself memorable to others. In truth, while he is very arrogant and prideful about his capabilities as a spy, he's also very insecure about his lack of presence. Hence, why he goes about trying to make himself famous. As a spy, Yuto is fairly intelligent and crafty, willing to do even shady means or have other 'agents' of his gather intel in order to get closer to the truth (though he does care about them enough to not given them intel that could get his 'agents' in trouble as well).

Rundown

Theme wise, Yuto fits into DR0's theme of Identity and the lack of identity fairly strongly as one of its more blatant symbols. In Yuto's case, he represents the lack of physical identity. He's bursting with ego (if a bit too much in that aspects), is pretty intelligent (if used for unsavory reasons) and is genuinely good at his job - but he shows what can happen if someone is deemed too 'plain' by society. Even among Ultimates, the most recognized of his youth for their skills, he's not one people notice or remember. In spite of his talents, the Yuto we see in DR0 is desperate to stand out and be noticed, hence him emulating the 'suave' spies seen in movies, and working towards his risky, and ultimately fatal, goal of being the savior of Hope's Peak by trying to expose and take down Junko. A goal that actually would have been detrimental in the long run since it would make his ability to be unnoticed no longer be in effect since everyone would know who he was.

He's essentially left in a bit of a binding state. The same talent that allowed him to get into Hope's Peak and make something of himself is also stopping him from going beyond a certain point or else he will just not have that ability anymore, and risk putting himself in a worse spot. Yet, he (rather blindingly) chooses the latter, because his need for someone to finally acknowledge him is that much greater, even at long term risk to himself...though, the short term risks done him in first.

Yuto is also supposed to represent the 'limitations' of being an Ultimate. Where they are defined by their talent, and trying to ignore said talent is essentially the same as rejecting themselves. He is the Ultimate Spy, because he has to be - its what makes him Yuto Kamishiro, even if he's still obscure because of it.

In terms of character he reflects, the immediate ones are the Madarai clan. Yuto and Madarai are both DR0 originals that try to use their appearances to gain advantage to their situations. Yuto is someone who has a forgettable appearance, but is able to use said appearance to his advantage as a spy. While for the Madarai, they use their status as octuplets in an attempt to pass off as one person to go about how to use their Bodyguard & Multi-Birth Sibling talent. How they differ, and the success they gain from such a thing, is boiled down to the circumstances on why they choose to go about their appearance situation. Yuto's is in response to an involuntary bad situation he was living in and trying to make the best of it. The Madarai, however, are willingly doing their best to pass each other off as just Isshiki. Or, in another way to think about it, the Madarai are handicapping themselves to go about uniformity. Ultimately, someone turning a weakness into an actual strength is going to go farther than those trying to make a cheap trick out of it.

Yuto also marks a reflection to his client, Ryoko. Both are people stuck 'in the moment', by means not in their control. Ryoko due to her mental state and Yuto because of his body. While people can remember Ryoko, she can't for them (unless its Yasuke). While Yuto can remember everyone else, he's often forgotten about. They're essentially opposites that fate ended up together, but also contrast in their attitudes to their situation. Ryoko has essentially become content with her state and outright refuses to try bothering with other relationships past Yasuke or difficult scenarios she's feels its futile. Yuto is still actively trying to fight his condition by inserting himself into dangerous scenarios, down to the moment where he's killed for knowing too much.

In classic Danganronpa fashion, Yuto 's death is rather ironic. Or rather the reason he died. He wanted to be remembered and well known. Yasuke killed him because he Yuto had made it clear he knew the truth. AKA Yuto did something to make him stand out in someone's eyes. However! Since standing out is actually really bad for a spy, it got him killed for his troubles. By trying to defy his talent, Yuto was pretty much punished by fate for it.

Personal Thoughts

So is it no surprise I'm not quite a fan of Yuto either? Pervert characters are very hard to make good-ish and Yuto doesn't come close. Teruteru at least has his family love to make him somewhat sympathetic and show off something better than 'guy who tries to trick a foreign girl into sucking him off'. Yuto doesn't really have that? There is no love for sick Mama - nothing to really water down 'trying to coerce amnesiac girl into sex' or 'hundreds of female private spaces have wiretaps in them because of me'.

Sure, its easy enough to get a read on why he's like that - he's emulating movie spies to be remembered - but it's a motivation that doesn't quite stick the landing as much DR0 wants it to stick. It's a trait that really bogs down his efficiency as a spy and even his serious moments when he's trying to be more than that. Especially in regards to his 'confined by talent' spiel at the end of DR0. It would mean a lot more if it wasn't coming from someone who hasn't pretty much spent his entire screentime being creepy.

To me, it's the point where I consider him under what I call the 'Yuto Effect' - 'when a character, usually perverted and/or crazy, in a story's negative traits and actions are so egregious to its audience, it results in the charater trying to have depth beyond such traits failing to be recieved by said audience.' Suzuhiko from DRT and even the aformented Teruteru can come under this trait and it really hurts since its clear that DR0 wanted to have both a comedic relief and exposition characters, but Yuto just doesn't hit the mark to fill either of those roles, unfortunately.

Honestly, its actually a real shame, since having an Ultimate Spy is really cool and how his talents works makes sense since someone who isn't really noticeable is going to be a great Spy and his design reflects that well. I also think its a good detail to pair a character who isn't memorable with Ryoko the amnesiac - nice contrast and potential for really interesting scenarios to work with. It's really just the execution that dragged him down into being a low point for the book.

The Kantō Massacre began on the day of the earthquake.  The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.9 on the moment magnitude scale with its focus deep beneath Izu Ōshima Island in Sagami Bay. Estimated casualties totalled about 142,800 deaths, including about 40,000 who went missing and were presumed dead.

Because the earthquake struck when people were cooking meals, many were killed as a result of large fires that broke out. Fires started immediately after the earthquake. Some fires developed into firestorms that swept across cities. Many people died when their feet became stuck on melting tarmac. The single greatest loss of life was caused by a fire whirl that engulfed the Rikugun Honjo Hifukusho in downtown Tokyo, where about 38,000 people were incinerated after taking shelter there after the earthquake. The earthquake broke water mains all over the city, and putting out the fires took nearly two full days until late in the morning of September 3.

A strong typhoon centered off the coast of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture brought high winds to Tokyo Bay at about the same time as the earthquake. These winds caused fires to spread rapidly.

Many homes were buried or swept away by landslides in the mountainous and hilly coastal areas in western Kanagawa Prefecture; about 800 people died. A collapsing mountainside in the village of Nebukawa, west of Odawara, pushed the entire village and a passenger train carrying over 100 passengers, along with the railway station, into the sea.

The RMS Empress of Australia was about to leave Yokohama harbor when the earthquake struck. It narrowly survived and assisted in rescuing 2000 survivors. A P&O liner, Dongola, was also in the harbor at the moment of disaster and rescued 505 people, taking them to Kobe.

A tsunami with waves up to 10 m (33 ft) high struck the coast of Sagami Bay, Bōsō Peninsula, Izu Islands, and the east coast of Izu Peninsula within minutes. The tsunami caused many deaths, including about 100 people along Yui-ga-hama Beach in Kamakura and an estimated 50 people on the Enoshima causeway. Over 570,000 homes were destroyed, leaving an estimated 1.9 million homeless. Evacuees were transported by ship from Kantō to as far as Kobe in Kansai. The damage is estimated to have exceeded US$1 billion (or about $16 billion today). There were 57 aftershocks.

Ethnic Koreans were massacred after the earthquake. The Home Ministry declared martial law and ordered all sectional police chiefs to make maintenance of order and security a top priority. A false rumor was spread that Koreans were taking advantage of the disaster, committing arson and robbery, and were in possession of bombs. Anti-Korean sentiment was heightened by fear of the Korean independence movement. 

In the confusion after the quake, mass murder of Koreans by mobs occurred in urban Tokyo and Yokohama, fuelled by rumors of rebellion and sabotage. The government reported that 231 Koreans were killed by mobs in Tokyo and Yokohama in the first week of September. Independent reports said the number of dead was far higher, ranging from 6,000 to 10,000. Some newspapers reported the rumors as fact, including the allegation that Koreans were poisoning wells. The numerous fires and cloudy well water, a little-known effect of a large quake, all seemed to confirm the rumors of the panic-stricken survivors who were living amidst the rubble. Vigilante groups set up roadblocks in cities, and tested civilians with a shibboleth for supposedly Korean-accented Japanese: deporting, beating, or killing those who failed. Army and police personnel colluded in the vigilante killings in some areas. Of the 3,000 Koreans taken into custody at the Army Cavalry Regiment base in Narashino, Chiba Prefecture, 10% were killed at the base, or after being released into nearby villages. Moreover, anyone mistakenly identified as Korean, such as Chinese, Ryukyuans, and Japanese speakers of some regional dialects, suffered the same fate. About 700 Chinese, mostly from Wenzhou, were killed. A monument commemorating this was built in 1993 in Wenzhou.

In response, the government called upon the Japanese Army and the police to protect Koreans; 23,715 Koreans were placed in protective custody across Japan, 12,000 in Tokyo alone. The chief of police of Tsurumi (or Kawasaki by some accounts) is reported to have publicly drunk the well water to disprove the rumor that Koreans had been poisoning wells. In some towns, even police stations into which Korean people had escaped were attacked by mobs, whereas in other neighborhoods, civilians took steps to protect them. The Army distributed flyers denying the rumor and warning residents against attacking Koreans, but in many cases, vigilante activity only ceased as a result of Army operations against it. In several documented cases, soldiers and policemen participated in the killings, and in other cases, authorities handed groups of Koreans over to local vigilantes, who proceeded to kill them.

Ohoho thank you for asking! (´｡• ᵕ •｡`) ♡ I caught up on quite a few shows from 2022 this year but I will only pick from shows that came out in 2023 for those questions, and ones I have finished as of today.

1. What are your top 10 QL this year?

Starting with a hard one aren't we? Okay let's try it, top 10 based not always on quality but definitely on the love I have for them! (except maybe for the top 2, ranking has changed 5 times before I posted so take it as fluid lol)

10- Love in Translation. This one was a surprise because I did not expect much, but it was very good comedy, had emotionally intelligent characters, a great female love rival, and while the plot might have been a little weak (especially over the last 2 episodes) it was still a lovely romance.

9- Kimi to nara koi wo shite mite mo. Five excellent episodes, that gave us Amane the loveliest, saddest boy and Ryuuji as the kindest one. Bonus point for Enoshima's gorgeous background.

8- A breeze of Love. I do love non linear storytelling, and the miscommunications in this one really worked for me. Loved it a lot.

7- My School President. I am a sucker for a musical show, and those teens were simply the cutest. They started the year with a bang for me.

6- I Feel You Linger in the Air. Yes, the last two episodes had big pacing problems, and the ending was kind of sloppy and under explained but my god. What a ride. The emotions hit it every single time for me, and for all the crying I did, I still came out of it with my heart full.

5- Our Dating Sim. I think my favorite second chance romance in a good long while. It used its allotted time perfectly to tell the story it had to tell, the way it unfolded felt believable, and the shift in perspective regarding the conflict was really well done. Also, like everyone, still haven't recovered from "Have you been well? Without me?"

4- Bokura no Shokutaku. Food related jdrama rarely miss the mark for me (looking at you Zenra Meshi (눈_눈)) and this one was so gentle, with great siblings, and so so so much love it had to be on the list.

3- Laws of Attraction. Look. I was bound to put this one in the list if only for JamFilm, but it also gave me unhinged men (Charn and of course Nawin oh boy), absolutely badass ladies - from Maya and Rose to our grandmother extraordinaire, and a side dish with a broken rich boy and a devoted bodyguard. Delicious.

2- Unintentional Love Story. Despite the abysmal kisses, I loved the romance, they had wonderful hugs and tons of hand holding, and the second couple was a delight.

1- Kimi ni wa todokanai. Probably my all time favorite trope made so, so perfectly well, with the cutest characters, the best pink boy in the world, and a banger opening. No notes.

...missing some high quality stuffs (Moonlight Chicken, sorry dear) but well. Ten is ten 🙈

14. What are your top 5 favorite tropes used this year?

5- Catching the clumsy one before they fall down the stairs. Both Kimi to nara koi ... and Kimi ni wa todokanai did it and I loved it both times. 4- Age Gap. While not always a fave of mine, I have really enjoyed it every time I encountered it this year! (be it in The New Employee or Love in Translation, or I Feel You Linger in the Air and Moonlight Chicken) 3- Dancing/waltzing together. I can't keep track of all the iterations we had of this, but you can be sure I loved it each time. 2- Second chance love. I love people getting to try again when the sentiments are still there, and we had some really nice one too (Our Dating Sim obv, but also Shigatsu no Tokyo wa...!) 1- Obligatory ☆*:.｡.o Childhood Friends to Lovers o.｡.:*☆ for this one. It's a favorite of mine period, but we had some really good iterations of it this year (yes yes yes kimi ni wa todokanai, but also Shigatsu no Tokyo wa... and technically Tan/Methee in LoA)

21. Who was the softest character/pairing in QL this year? Which pairing had the best communication?

Oh, I feel like we had quite a few very soft pairings this year... But! I think I will pick a show that had all of it: softest character, couple, AND good communication > The New Employee.

Seung Yun was just the sweetest, his relationship with Jong Chan was absolutely adorable, and (from what I remember) their communication was top notch.

Honorable mention for sweetest couple to Napdao and Wela from Lucky My Love, my girls were the cutest.

Bonus. Best siblings this year?

Siblings?? My favorite thing in the world?? (°◡°♡) (technically I have watched To Sir, With Love this year so I could nominate Best Brothers Yang and Tian right?)

My favorite siblings this year came from Japan! I have to hand it to Minoru and Tane from Bokura no Shokutaku. They were so adorable I'd be remiss not to pick them.

Close behind are the Ohara siblings, Yamato and Mikoto from Kimi ni wa todokanai - they clearly took great care of each other and their dynamic was the cutest.

Junko being Manfred’s daughter headcanons:

The spirit of both characters came from superhell ™ and possessed me to make this.

The name on her birth certificate is ‘ Ryoko Von Karma’ but she took on her mother’s last name ‘ Otonashi’ to be less conspicuous. The mix of German and Japanese felt too tacky for her tastes anyway. Also she did not want a word that could be read as  ‘hope’ in her last name. Junko Enoshima is her alter ego and stage name, embracing her Japanese heritage fully. 

  An only child who has a tendency to just take and claim people as her own; Mukuro, Yasuke , Monaca, Mikan, Izuru, etc ( While initially just glad Ryoko was making any connections, Manfred ended up unofficially adopting a lot of them lmao).

Ryoko got a lot of her mental health issues and analysis skills from her father.

Manfred struggled a lot raising Ryoko and he blames himself for a lot of her actions and struggles. He sees so many of the parts of himself he tried to suppress inside her. He also worries that his issues of expressing himself emotionally and the weight behind his family name contributes to her problems.

Ryoko, on the other hand, is actually glad that someone at least shares her experiences and emotions, even if not to the same extent. 

Manfred could have never predicted Ryoko’s lack of interest in everything he cares about and her fascination with despair. Ryoko caused Manfred to really question the work he was doing and why. 

To Ryoko, all her father’s rules and ideologies are really boring and incredibly nonsensical, a reflection of the rottenness of society. Due to her father’s profession, Ryoko knows the intricacies of the law and how to skirt it. She loves trying to rile him up but she forgets she gets her own stubbornness from him. 

Manfred is incredibly overprotective of Ryoko. The moment she has any sort of hesitance or discomfort about something the moment he removes it from her life permanently. No modeling career or Hope's Peak Academy for her. He prosecutes those agencies and that academy to the highest court, destroying them before she could.

She finds it annoying a lot of the time but appreciates he’s at least trying.

While there’s no world destruction in this universe, Ryoko still did horrible stuff such as purposefully causing trouble, manipulating others, even  attempting to stab Matsuda.  Despite his endless dedication to law, Manfred instinctively knew the system he worked for would not be effective for dealing with her, so he covered up all her actions and sought non punitive measures. With proper support beyond an emotionally stunted old man, she learned about herself and others and how to express herself in less destructive ways. If only her father had gotten help as well… 

When she moved to America with Yasuke and some of her other friends he was utterly heartbroken. While he knew she was leaving Germany and getting away from his work and the Von Karma name was good for her, he really didn’t want her to go and worried she’d completely regress.  But Manfred knew if Ryoko wanted something she'd get it and he worried about smothering her. 

Despite his worries, she’s doing rather well at the moment. Ryoko still slips up sometimes but that’s natural in the process. No matter what, her father is always waiting for her with open arms and a forehead kiss.

 When particularly stressed the duo take quick visits to the other. 

While Manfred’s gotten used to sensing her moods he’s still not good at actually reading her. Ryoko has to be more upfront with her emotions and such.

Manfred’s learned to be more supportive and be more open minded about her interests and lifestyle, even if he doesn’t entirely understand it.

Ryoko has tried to update her father’s fashion style but even with all her talent and prowess and puppy dog eyes she could not achieve such a feat.

Ryoko would not get along with Miles and Franziska, she’d probably tease them and try to rile them up.

 She knew her father killed Gregory but didn’t reveal that fact to anyone, not even her father.

 Ryoko visited him almost daily in prison, primarily to offer him escape plans, which he refused.

She would  not allow his execution nor would any of her friends. 

 Regarding Manfred’s associates, Junko finds Blaise all boring and snuffy, one of those know-it-all guys who think they’re better than everyone else. Ryoko finds Damon incredibly interesting and was fun to be around. Gregory was too much like Makoto. After her father’s conviction, however, she brought Blaise and Gant to hell herself.

Asahina is...well, she is what she is. I understand and respect her decision to leave the Future Foundation. It’s not very well my place to say anything.

I used to not like Hagakure, but we bonded a little during the Haiji Towa incident. He’s a massive coward and a fool who can’t hold down a simple task, but...it takes balls to make a sacrifice like he did.

I...don’t particularly get along with Toko, but that may be due to my flimsy relationship with Komaru. I think she hates me back too, so that’s nice.

I respect Maizono. I’m not too fond of idols, even though I have an alter ego that is one, but she’s a passionate woman, and I like that about her.

I’m not particularly fond of Kuwata. He runs his mouth and says brash and rude things without thinking about it. I know how ironic that is coming from me, but he’s got a lot more to live up to than I do. You can’t keep being a high school jock at nearly 30 years old.

Fujisaki’s awesome, but I wish I knew what he was talking about half the time.

Owada’s a cool dude, if a little thick headed...

Ishimaru is fucking EXHAUSTING. It’s so hard avoiding him lecturing on me on the right and wrongs of the law, i.e. stuff that I already know, whenever I’m just trying to eat a god damn sandwich.

Hifumi’s a cool dude, and he has great taste in waifu’s. That’s enough to make him a solid person all around.

Yasuhiro...as in Taeko Yasuhiro, can dip her head in a toilet.

Ogami is...kinda scary, but I’m not really that threatened by her. She’s a gentle soul, and I know that full well. Everyone’s lucky she’s around to protect them.

And lastly...Enoshima...I don’t know enough about that woman to really give an opinion, but I know full well she’s bad news.
