Stuff I forgot to post from episode 109 ^^

there's nothing more terrifying and dangerous than a desperate person

that's what jay and gillion are as they attack captain widow over and over, blood and viscera spilling from gaping holes in her body as they aim for the eight hearts in her body. they're praying to the gods that they wouldn't hit chip's, but by the gods they needed to subdue this captain

even after captain widow goes down, jay and gillion toss ideas back and forth on how to get chip's heart back, or at least destroy the others without hurting his. so jay takes out her compass, locating where chip's heart is circulating throughout captain widow's body, and she and gillion stab through the rest of the hearts with predatory focus and surgical precision

neither of them bother to acknowledge the blood spilling onto the floor or seeping into their clothes. they don't notice the mouth-agape shock their crewmates and new friends stand with as they look on at two co-captains driven into a near bloodlust to save their best friend

they might not be able to save chip now, but at least they can remove the other enemies from the equation

listen i love the fanon design of chip with the hole in his chest, but i am always thinking about how in canon, chip’s heart is ripped out through his mouth. for reference, the human heart is roughly the size of two fists held together.

the fucking pain of something that size being torn from its home in your chest and dragged through your throat and out of your mouth would be fucking unimaginable.

just thinking about the anatomical implications of that, even though it was done through magical means. your heart’s being ripped from its place in the ribcage, and it’s not like theres an easy entrance to the throat from there. it would need to be dragged through the lungs surrounding it and rip its way into the esophagus. i wouldn’t be surprised if something that size traveling up your throat could have enough force to snap your neck. and after the lungs and esophagus and trachea and all the surrounding tissue and blood vessels and arteries have been fucking mangled, the heart has to come out of your mouth. the size of your two fists held together. probably with enough force to shatter your jaw and knock out your teeth. and even after it’s done, after your heart’s been stolen, all that viscera had to come with it.

and thankfully, with how captain widow’s magic works, chip does not die, but becomes undead. after she’s eaten his heart. after he gains the effects of a long rest, and he seems to be alright aside from the obvious issue at hand.

but he felt every second of it, and that’s not something you can just forget.

(obviously the actual canon description of this event is NOT as gorey as this post so it doesn’t all line up but please just let me LIVE i love when things are fucked up and gross)

One thing I haven't seen a lot of discussion about regarding the fight in the last episode is that with Orym ending Opal it leans into the fear of him being responsible for stopping his friends. Repeatedly during the campaign, it has been said or implied to Orym that if the worst happens - Imogen going dark, Delilah taking control of Laudna etc.. - that it is his duty to kill them. Now even though it wasn't really Opal he made that choice to end his friend.

I do wonder if we'll get a discussion about what happened next episode especially if Dorian will confirm to them that that is what Opal currently looks like and the potential of having to face her down.
