(This post contains non-graphic references to child sexual abuse.)
So okay, last year, when the eSafety commissioner was all like "hey so twitter failed to answer Australia's questions about how they meet the basic online safety expectations in relation to child sexual exploitation and abuse material and activity and we are going to try to fine them $610,500 for non-compliance," I deleted my remaining twitter account.
Now, to be clear, a number of big tech companies didn't come out of this process looking great. For some, the eSafety commissioner said there were gaps in their processes. For others, like Google, they said the answers to the questions in the notice were too vague and issued a formal warning.
However, Twitter just straight up did not answer several of the questions, "including the time it takes the platform to respond to reports of child sexual exploitation; the measures it has in place to detect child sexual exploitation in livestreams; and the tools and technologies it uses to detect child sexual exploitation material." [X]
Up until then I kept an empty twitter account for checking up on public posts. (Even after I decided I didn't want to actually spend time talking on twitter... I'm like a cat who likes to be tall to see what's going on!) But after learning about this, I felt uneasy about using the platform. I determined that, regardless of what cool art or conversations were going on over there that I wanted to view, I personally didn't want to use and tacitly endorse a platform that refused to respond to requests for basic information like this.
So I got rid of twitter. The end. (For me, at least. You can do what you want.)
But in context I find this interesting, because this is the first AO3 donations drive season I've seen since that happened, right?
So now I actually have a pretty clear idea of what an average guy (me!) does when they discover a platform they use has an unacceptably lax policy around CSEM content.
Listen, I'm not a moral pillar of my community. Something I learned about a platform made me uncomfortable and I stopped using it. That's barely even a moral stance. But what it tells me is that if people genuinely believed that AO3 was intentionally lax towards absolutely, truly morally unacceptable content (whatever that is, by their own personal reasoning), they'd be outta there like they were fired from a fucking cannon.

hey 👋
with a certain new syscourse blog, i want to talk about something that, although very prevalent on the internet, isnt talked about nearly enough as it should be.
Cyberbullying.
[pt: Cyberbullying.]
Now, this may not exactly be considered cyberbullying in the eyes of the law, or by many outside of the law, however, it's still important to keep yourself safe.
First, what is cyberbullying?
"Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.
The most common places where cyberbullying occurs are:
Social Media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik Tok
Text messaging and messaging apps on mobile or tablet devices
Instant messaging, direct messaging, and online chatting over the internet
Online forums, chat rooms, and message boards, such as Reddit
Email
Online gaming communities"
[source: https://www.stopbullying.gov/cyberbullying/what-is-it]
So, what can you do about it?
There are many options, especially on tumblr, depending on what the person is doing.
You can:
Block them from all of your blogs
Report them to tumblr, although be wary, as tumblr often doesn't do anything-[how to report someone, tumblr's guidelines]
If they are harassing you through your askbox, you can turn off anon asks, or turn off asks completely
If it becomes unlawful, and you are getting harassed, or sent content with threats or intimidation, check your local cyberbullying laws. You can likely report someone if they are harassing you.
Log off tumblr; no, seriously. Cyberbullying will always affect you, and you can't just leave, but what you can do is take a break.
If you're a minor, you can tell a trusted adult.
NEVER harass them back. Especially if you are looking to report them; as it can be constituted as unlawful.
Other important info;
Here is a list of helplines you can contact
Here is a website that has more info on what you can do if you're being cyberbullied
Here is a website that talks about what cyberbullying is and how to stop it
eSafety, and what you can report to it
Even if what you're going through doesn't necessarily count as cyberbullying, even if the problem seems "small," your hurt and pain are still valid. Stay safe on the internet.

Factors to Consider When Buying Enclosed Trailers for Sale in NSW
Enclosed trailers for sale NSW offer a versatile storage and transportation solution for a variety of needs. Whether you're a tradesperson, hobbyist, or adventurer, an enclosed trailer can be a valuable asset. But with so many options on the market, choosing the right trailer can be overwhelming. Here are some key factors to consider when buying enclosed trailers for sale in NSW:
Tumblr media
Size and Weight
Trailer Size: Consider what you'll be using the enclosed trailer or heavy duty tandem trailer for. How much cargo space will you need? Will you be hauling bulky equipment, furniture, or motorcycles? Enclosed trailers come in a wide range of sizes, from small, single-axle trailers to large, tandem-axle trailers.
Towing Capacity: Ensure your tow vehicle can handle the weight of the trailer, both loaded and unloaded. Check your vehicle's owner's manual for towing capacity specifications.
Material and Construction
Wall Material: Enclosed trailers are typically made from aluminium or galvanized steel. Aluminium trailers are lighter but may be more susceptible to dents. Galvanized steel trailers are more dent-resistant but heavier.
Floor Material: Trailer floors come in various materials, including plywood, treated wood, and composite materials. Choose a floor that can withstand the weight and type of cargo you'll be hauling.
Frame Construction: The trailer's frame should be made from a sturdy material, such as welded steel. Look for a well-constructed frame with reinforced welds for maximum durability.
Features
Ramp Door: Consider the type of ramp door you need. Bi-fold doors offer a wider opening, while single-ramp doors are more space-saving. Hydraulic lifts are available for heavier cargo.
Tie-Down Points: Look for a trailer with plenty of tie-down points to secure your cargo safely during transport.
Lighting: Interior and exterior lighting can be essential for loading and unloading in low-light conditions.
Spare Tyre: Make sure the trailer has a spare tire and mounting bracket.
Registration and Compliance
Registration: In NSW, enclosed trailers with a Gross Trailer Mass (GTM) of more than 250kg require registration. Be sure to factor in registration costs when budgeting for your trailer.
Safety Requirements: Trailers over a certain weight or age may require an eSafety check to ensure they meet road safety standards.
Budget
New vs. Used: New enclosed trailers offer the latest features and warranties, but they come at a higher price. Used trailers can be a more affordable option, but be sure to have the trailer inspected by a qualified mechanic before purchasing.
By considering these factors, you can choose the right enclosed trailer for your needs in NSW. With its versatility, durability, and weather protection, an enclosed trailer can be a valuable investment for years to come.

Week 10: Digital Citizenship and Conflict: Social Media Governance
The ubiquitous nature of social media platforms has defined and will continue to define the contemporary world. Upcoming projections indicate rapid expansion in emerging countries, bringing the total number of social media users to around 58.4% of the global population (Statista, 2022). According to the eSafety Commissioner of the New South Wales Department of Education, "a good digital citizen" is someone who is able to make beneficial use of digital technology for social participation, communication, content creation, and consumption.
There are a lot of worries about the future of social media regulation, despite the fact that these platforms have helped people interact and share material, such as the proliferation of fake news, hate speech, and internet monitoring. Violent online conflicts highlight the power dynamics at play in the concept of digital citizenship. A perceived chasm has opened up between academic study and real-world issues faced by people because non-experts' perspectives are sorely lacking in discussions of information systems in the literature. People should talk about cyberbullying and other forms of online abuse on platforms where they do not know the perpetrators well.
Tumblr media
The formation of "bad habits" might occur, however, when users constantly check their social media alerts out of FOMO and participate in negative self-comparisons (Walther et al., 2011). The correlation between social media usage and mental health is complex. Not only was social media usage substantially related to depression, but those suffering from depression were also more likely to use social media (Lin et al., 2016). Lowry et al. (2016) and Ransbotham et al. (2016) found that new digital vulnerabilities, such as cyber mobs and "sock puppet" accounts, are a major contributor to this negativity. These accounts spread objectionable speech and engage in social shaming. Teens may develop PTSD symptoms after being exposed to risky information on social media, such as cyberbullying, sexual solicitations, and explicit material (McHugh et al., 2018). Furthermore, Johnson (2018) reveals that individuals may become unable to differentiate between fair and unfair online behaviour due to "mob rules'' established by online organisations.
By outlining standards for appropriate conduct and content, social media governance helps platforms encourage responsible participation from its users. The resolution of these disputes and the preservation of digital citizenship values need for robust frameworks for social media administration. Since these forms of government must address many, and at times competing, interests, they are inherently complex. Digital communities that promote healthy relationships based on mutual regard, understanding, and accountability may be created when all parties involved pull together. Furthermore, Johnson (2018) reveals that individuals may become unable to differentiate between fair and unfair online behaviour due to "mob rules" established by online organisations.

Finding a Mechanic for Car Repairs in Dapto
Dapto is a large town south of Wollongong on the western side of Lake Illawarra. It is best known for the Dapto Greyhound Racing track which attracts competitors and spectators from across the region.
The pace of life is relaxed here and there is a great sense of community. There are plenty of activities to do and the beaches are beautiful.
Repairs
If your car needs mechanics repairs in dapto, it's important to find a mechanic you can trust. Some repair shops specialize in certain models or brands, while others are general automotive repair specialists. A good mechanic will be able to identify the problem and make the necessary repairs quickly.
A check engine light can indicate a number of problems, such as a loose oil filter or an error in the ECU. A mechanic can determine what is causing the fault by using a special scan tool.
Caravan owners should service their caravans often to avoid problems on the road. A service should include a visual assessment, greasing of seals, and suspension checks. It is also recommended to use a caravan wash after a service. The workshop that carries out the inspection will provide you with a 'white slip' of repairs needed.
Inspections
There are a number of inspections that can be done by a mechanic. These include eSafety inspections, pink slip or rego inspections (for NSW vehicles), and dilapidation reports. A Mechanic can also carry out safety checks on a vehicle, including an oil filter change. The job of an oil filter is to remove impurities from the car's oil, but over time this can clog up and no longer allow the oil through.
Mechanics can also read fault codes stored in the car's electronic control unit. This allows them to diagnose what the problem is. They can then recommend what repairs are needed to fix the problem. They can even arrange for the work to be carried out by a specialist repairer. This can save you money on main dealer repairs and labour costs. Mechanics can also do pool safety and barrier inspections, and report on the compliance of the pool to Australian standards. They can also do building handover inspections.
Claims
Mechanics are skilled tradespeople who use tools to build, maintain, and repair machinery. They often specialize in specific types of machinery or vehicles. For example, automotive mechanics repairs work on cars, trucks, and motorcycles. They may also diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using specialized tools. They can also work on engine components, transmission systems, and steering and suspension systems. Mechanics enjoy the gratification of resolving issues and seeing instant improvements in the performance of a vehicle. They can also use their problemsolving skills to find creative solutions. They can also field questions from car owners and explain the condition of a vehicle with confidence.

Why Car Servicing Is Important
Cars play a vital role in our lives and need to be well maintained to ensure their safety. This is why regular car servicing from a professional auto mechanic in Sydney is so important. Regular maintenance can prevent costly breakdowns in the future and help you get the most out of your vehicle for years to come. Aside from ensuring that your vehicle is roadworthy, regular service can also save you money by detecting and rectifying small problems before they become bigger.
If you’re planning to sell your car in the future, you can increase its resale value by taking advantage of car servicing in Sydney. Buyers are usually keen to a vehicle’s history of maintenance, and will usually offer higher valuations to vehicles that have been regularly serviced by a qualified auto mechanic. In addition, Car servicing Sydney can reduce your fuel consumption and help you avoid unnecessary expenses.
Most people are aware that they need to take their cars for regular maintenance services to keep them running at their best. However, not everyone knows how much a car service costs and what to expect. The cost of a car service can vary based on the make and model, the type of service, and the location of the service centre. In general, the price of a car service ranges from $150 to $550.
Many people are afraid of being ripped off when they get their cars serviced, but this shouldn’t stop you from getting the maintenance services that your vehicle needs. A good way to protect yourself from getting ripped off is to find a reputable service centre that provides transparent pricing. Moreover, you can always ask for a quote before committing to a particular service centre.
NRMA members can get great deals on log book servicing, essential service, eSafety inspections (Pink slips), and major repairs. Our network of branches across NSW and ACT means there’s sure to be a branch close to you. We have a wide selection of experienced and professional mechanics who can take care of all your maintenance needs.
When buying a new car, it’s a good idea to choose one with a warranty policy. This will give you peace of mind in case you need to have any issues fixed. It’s also a good idea to purchase an extended warranty to protect your car against accidental damage.
A vehicle’s lifespan can be determined by its maintenance and repair history. Keeping up with routine services by a trusted car mechanic in Sydney will enable your vehicle to reach its full life expectancy. Inevitably, all cars will need to be replaced at some point, but you can prolong the lifespan of yours by keeping up with car servicing.
When choosing a service provider, be sure to check the Australian Consumer Law to see whether they are legitimate. Some repairers may try to trick you into thinking that you must go to a dealer to maintain your warranty, but this is illegal and is against the consumer law.

Week 6: Digital Citizenship and Slow Fashion
This week's topic covers digital citizenship and slow fashion.
What is #slow fashion? "The movement encourages brands to embrace a quality-based rather than a time-based business philosophy based around slower production, ethical attitudes, and well made and long-lasting products (Domingos et al 2022)"
Let's hope you didn't forget what digital citizenship is but if you did let us recap. #Digital Citizenship refers to a good digital citizen as a person with the skills and knowledge to effectively use digital technologies in a positive way to participate in society, communicate with others, and create and consume digital content (Office of the eSafety Commissioner, NSW Department of Education)
When companies say they are sustainable, do you ever wonder what they mean by this? 1. Items are to be produced child labour free. 2. Materials used in production should be less environmentally harmful and more durable. 3. Production process must be ethical and socially responsible. 4. Creating long-term relationships across the supply chain which ensures fair prices and wages. (week 6 lecture) The economic impact of the fashion industry: 1. The fashion industry in Australia contributed around 27.2 billion Australian dollars to the national economy in 2021 and employs over 489,000 Australians (Statista 2022). 2. Top global fashion companies Nike, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Adidas, Chanel, Zara, and Uniqlo (Statista 2022) Environmental impact of fashion: 1. The global fashion industry accounts for 10% of the world’s carbon emissions. The industry exceeds the combined carbon footprint of international flights and maritime shipping. (week 6 lecture) 2. Burberry and H&M accused of disposing large quantities of unsold new clothes because of the constant pressure to produce the latest looks (Brewer, 2019)
Tumblr media
Let's jump into one of this week's readings but instead, it's a video. DW Planet A 'If you think fast fashion is bad, check out SHEIN'Links to an external site. (2022)
Shein is the new place to shop for many due to its low prices even when making big quantity orders. It is not fast fashion it's 'ultra fast'.
The online company targets mostly the young generation and produces new products every day on its website. In order to reach this target audience they use social media influencers as a tactic. It has become very popular due to social media having countless videos made of people doing #hauls.
A journalist stated 'The issue is the workers they are not in the social welfare system'. A fact many might not know is that 'the fashion industry is responsible for 8-10% of greenhouse gas emissions.'
Gen Z was then interviewed in the street about what they think about climate change. The same answer across all was that they don't think about it when fashion shopping. The reason was 'low budget' 'We are students, we are pretty low on funds.'
They have predicted the company won't last for long as education on this issue is getting out slowly and in hopes that will stop the support of their unethical practices and any other fast fashion company in years to come.
Will you stop shopping and supporting these fast fashion companies or are you also 'on a budget?'

What is a Pink Slip or eSafety check?
Tumblr media
Regular car safety checks are essential for ensuring that your vehicle is running smoothly, performing optimally and is safe to drive. Regular eSafety checks can help prevent costly repairs in the future by detecting any issues early. You can identify any potential problems with the vehicle so they can be addressed immediately.
This will also provide peace of mind, knowing that your car is safe to drive and functioning properly. It should include a thorough inspection of the brakes, exhaust system, lights and other vital components of the vehicle. It should also include checking fluid levels and inspecting belts and hoses for wear or damage. A qualified mechanic should always perform it as they have the knowledge and skills to inspect the vehicle and make any necessary repairs.
You can ensure that your car is safe to drive and running optimally. It is also important to remember that safety should always be your top priority when it comes to driving, so make sure you are taking the necessary precautions to keep yourself and others safe on the road.
It can help give you peace of mind, knowing that your car is in good working order and ready for the road.  So, make sure to include regular checks as part of your car maintenance routine for optimal vehicle performance and safety.
A Pink Slip or eSafety check (also known as an e-safety check) is a vehicle inspection program that assesses the roadworthiness of a car. It includes checking for any major defects and complying with road safety regulations. A qualified inspector will inspect your vehicle’s brakes, wheels, tyres, suspension, fuel system, lighting/electrical components and more to ensure they are all in good working order. If any repairs or replacements are required before you can drive safely on the road again, they will be identified during the inspection.
The report generated by this check should also provide information about whether these repairs need to be completed right away or if there’s still time left before driving becomes risky. Passing the inspection means that you can be assured your car is safe to drive. It’s also important to remember that e safety check sydney should be done on a regular basis, such as once every six months, in order to ensure maximum safety on the roads.
The cost of an e-safety check varies depending on where you live and what type of vehicle needs to be inspected. In some cases, the inspection may even be free if it is done through a government program or offered by certain approved organizations. Additionally, if any repairs are needed due to failed items during the inspection process, these can usually be completed at extra cost with the help of qualified mechanics.
Having your vehicle checked check is one of the best ways to ensure that your car is safe and reliable on the road. It’s also important for ensuring that all necessary repairs are completed in order to avoid any potential accidents or breakdowns. Be sure to have a regular inspection done, and you can drive with confidence knowing that your vehicle is safe and up-to-date!

WEEK 7: Instagram, influencers and the Slow Fashion Movement
“They like to call themselves influencers in terms of business… but they don’t want to accept the responsibility of being an influence” (tiffanyferg, 2018)
According to the NSW Department of Education, “A good digital citizen is a person with the skills and knowledge to effectively use digital technologies in a positive way to participate in society, communicate with others, and create and consume digital content”. So based on this, is the average ‘influencer’ actually a good digital citizen then?
The amount of influencers bucking the historical trend of not discussing any ‘polarising’ issues is increasing daily. Youtuber Arden Rose has been a prominent influencer that has been promoting the slow fashion, more minimalist lifestyle. Since 2018, there has been a considerable shift in her content since late 2018. She was one of the original fashion and beauty bloggers of the early 2010s known for her hauls and makeup videos. Since her video ‘How to NOT Destroy the Planet” (August 2018), she has focused her channel on sustainable fashion hauls, wardrobe decluttering, all going to her Depop page, and lifestyle vlogs.

Tumblr media
THE SLOW FASHION MOVEMENT
To understand slow fashion, you first need to understand what fast fashion is. Solene Rauturier defines fast fashion as “cheap, trendy clothing, that samples ideas from the catwalk or celebrity culture and turns them into garments in high street stores at breakneck speed” (2018).It’s the clothes that we see on the racks of high profile High st stores such as H&M and Zara. The issues of fast fashion resurfaced once again in 2015 after the documentary ‘The True Cost’ which shows the dark side of fast fashion that the average consumer doesn’t get to see. Slow fashion is apparel that are produced in more ethical ways. An easy way to tell if your clothing is ethically produced is by going through this 4 step process:
Is it child labour free?
Are the materials used less harmful to the environment than what is usually used?
Is the production process completed in an ethical and sustainable manner?
Is there any evidence of long term supply chain relationships in the brand?
If your clothes pass all 4 steps CONGRATULATIONS! You can officially say you have shopped ethically. However, for many of us, myself included, this is hard to achieve.
THE RISE OF RENTING, THRIFTING, SECOND HAND CLOTHING AND MARIE KONDO
In recent years, we have seen a resurgence in thrifting culture and second hand clothing. Apps and websites such as Depop have surfaced and have allowed the average person to sell their second hand clothes to other people at a fraction of the retail price. Similarly, hundreds of instagram pages and websites have started the idea of clothing rentals which provide consumers with formal wear that they can rent for an event instead of going out buying something that they will probably wear once.
The Japanese consultant Marie Kondo has also inspired many to ditch the materialistic lifestyle that seems to be the common trend today for a life based off of themes of minimalism. This lifestyle generally means that you are saving money on things that you would be and living on only the things you need.
Tumblr media
So, if slow fashion is so much better for the environment and our fellow humans, why aren’t more of us shopping more ethically? This can be placed onto two main issues:
      1. The cost
Naturally, clothes, shoes and accessories that are made with more expensive materials, and actually pay their workers a legal minimum wage, are more expensive. HOWEVER, there is still light at the end of the tunnel! Jessica Davis in 2018 stated that in 2014, the price of organic food was approximately 9% more than what the normal cost of the same product would be but in 2018, this discrepancy had dropped to 7.5%. This can be due to the basic function of any economical market: More demand = more suppliers leading to a more competitive market that can cater for lower costs. Essentially, if more people become interested in slow fashion, more suppliers will start and eventually prices will drop so they become more affordable.
      2. Instagram
It’s probably a bit harsh to blame an entire multi trillion dollar industry’s downfall on a social media platform but Instagram culture has changed society forever. Instagram has placed a pressure on society that other generations have never experienced. The pressure to look good ALL. THE. TIME. And god forbid if you repeat an outfit. This culture means that many of us justify new purchases because it is a fashion no no to be caught in the same outfit twice.
Tumblr media
We are lucky that in today's digital age, it is a lot easier to shop ethically. Check out thrift and vintage stores, head on Depop and similar marketplaces or go onto the BCorp website to find some new ethical businesses to shop from. We have no excuses for not shopping a little more ethically and baby steps are all that is needed to make a difference.

What is digital citizenship? How social media is changing the election process
In exploring the many digital communities that our word offers through social media and other platforms, we must first be able to grasp this concept of digital citizenship. Digital citizenship refers to the actions, behaviours, thoughts and commitments by a person to a digital community within our society today. A good digital citizen can be defined by the Office of the eSafety Commissioner as “a person with the skills and knowledge to effectively use digital technologies in a positive way to participate in society, communicate with others, and create and consume digital content” (NSW Department of Education 2020).
Digital citizenship can often relate the political sphere and the power people can have over the voting process. The spread of political news can occur on any platform although Twitter is generally the most concentrated, due to its focus on text posts with a 280-character limit allowing for quick sharing of announcements and opinions. The limit is enough for people to be “satisfied with how they [express] themselves” (DMI Blog 2020) and allows for a lot of trending issues in society to be discussed and can efficiently reach a widespread global audience.
Social media can assist politicians to connect directly to the community as they please without the filtration that occurs through traditional media channels. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump used this idea to assist their campaigns in the US 2016 presidential election, with Clinton consistently uploading videos as a part of her social media message (Enli 2017, p. 52). Trump publicly criticised the legitimacy of traditional media such as the New York Times accusing them of lying and never fact checking (Enli 2017, p. 53), influencing users to ignore traditional media and only trust what Trump himself posts publicly, gaining Trump trust in the community and in turn creating campaign success.
Digital citizenship, being where people come together to bring about a change in society, is demonstrated in Get Up’s video titled “2017: The year people took back politics” (2017). The video emphasises the strength that ordinary people can attain just by working together and having their voices heard by politicians attempting to make changes that worsen our community. These communities of digital citizens are often brought together via hashtags, that create a public sphere for sharing and extended reach. Hashtags such as #auspol, being the most “visible and active” (Bogle 2016) hashtag in Australia, has become a home for political debate among Australians, with hashtags bringing two times the engagement to a tweet compared to those without any (DMI Blog 2020).

Digital Citizenship. How is social media changing election process?
#Last week, I talked about how Tumblr behaves as a digital community and the importance of freedom of speech. This week’s topic will focus on a larger picture,  outside of Tumblr, which is Digital citizenship and how social media is changing the election process.
First, let’s look at the definition of a digital citizenship and how to become a “good” digital citizen. According to the Applied Educational System, digital citizenship is described as people use any form of digital devices, the Internet, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tweet and Reddit, etc. In that saying, when you use the internet for simply checking your bank balance or contact with your family/friends/co-workers, you are a digital citizen. A “good” digital citizen are people who use the internet effectively to communicate with others, and create or consume digital information positively (Office of the eSafety Commissioner, NSW Department of Education). However, with the freedom and lack of fact-checking of any social media companies that refer themselves as platformations, it’s easy to become a “bad” digital citizen. The most recent example, the spread of myths around Covid-19 and how to prevent catching the virus, has become problematic for people sharing these myths with the good intention of helping others.
Social media has become a new platform for political campaigns to reach out to younger voters, indeed, everyone. The development of technology and the digital world have turned almost any generation into a part of the digital community.  To political campaigns, social media is a  new strategy, bringing them to victory, that however doesn’t make the old school approaches such as radio, TV and  knocking on doors inefficient, social media just simply opens a new avenue for politicians. This portrait in the American 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton only put up a tweet that she is running for president as the way to inform, this type of informing traditionally required press conference, media, etc, now it can be done with a simple tap. How politicians engage with voters on social media also play an important role, the way politicians interact with their supporters/voters has changed from professional to amateurism since 2012, Clinton applies the traditional style of tweeting, meanwhile Trump’s tweets are very non-traditional, controversial and unpredictable. That results in Trump’s victory of the 2016 presidential run.
Tumblr media
As I mentioned earlier, social media platforms still lack fact-checking when it comes to misinformation and fact-checking, that could cause damage to some campaigns. Facebook is one of the examples of this, the CEO, Zuckerberg, has been pressed for the lack of fact-checking of Facebook by Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez in 2019 at a House Financial Services Committee. Thus, fact-checking is extremely important in this saying, it creates fairness in the competition, and helps avoid the spread of fake news.
