CONCEPT: after the events of sonic free riders, vector decides to get espio an extreme gear to ride. espio proceeds to use his wind ninja powers in order to perpetually refuel his gear so he doesnt need to do any cool tricks, hes just a guy on a hoverboard that never runs out of juice hes just there for The Vibes of being on a hoverboard

eventually he meets wave (because thief/detective shenannigans, obviously) who just keeps asking HOW DOES THIS WORK WHY DOES YOUR GEAR JUST FLY FOREVER WHERE IS THE AIR COMING FROM THIS MAKES NO SCIENTIFIC SENSE and the first year of their relationship is just wave visibly plotting his death while espio just cryptically says "That Is My Ninja Power" which is simultaneously a very literal factual answer and also a complete non-answer because literally nobody knows espio is a ninja outside of his immediate friend group

it takes like a year and a half for wave to figure out hes literally just cheating with wind magic and honestly by that point shes just kinda charmed by his steadfast refusal to be honest with anybody about what hes doing
