Propaganda below the cut!
Bado
hes an adoptive father of 2 and a lazy conman who only cares about making easy money, but also doesnt enjoy it if theres even a person who isnt having fun with his schemes (unless its his adopted daughter, who's a knight that tries to stop him from scamming the towns people)
Bertrand de Gervaise
HE IS MY EVERYTHING HE'S DEFINITELY THE REASON I LOVE DILFS SO MUCH I won't spoil anything but there's a huge plot twist involving him and it shook me to my core when I first played the game in like high-school and it's stuck with me ever since. I just love jaded old men so much he's so silly I love him so much

Overlord is dead! Yahooooooo!!!
Tumblr media
Now, though this is for sure a momentous occasion, as this is my first time completing the main game of EO2U after numerous failed playthroughs, the final boss was kinda sorta... not as hard as I thought it was gonna be.
Granted, I am playing on Standard (because oh my gah!!!! enemies hit SO damn hard on expert and I like to play video games for enjoyment, not suffering), but in my experience it's honestly not much less difficult than EO5's Advanced.
When I fought EO5's final boss, you may recall from the post I made soon after that that fight came down to someone getting disabled/killed, getting healed, and then someone else getting disabled or killed again. Rinse and repeat for some 10 or so turns until I finally had enough leeway to kill the guy dead.
Fighting the Overlord, though, not many disables were thrown about (and nobody ever even died)---the only ailment anyone was ever inflicted with was Fear, which only has a 50% (?) chance to shut you down---and I didn't see OL throw out any binds. Still, I was running a Chain team in 5. In a party so reliant on every member doing their part, even one party member getting put out of commission for any amount of time was generally much more detrimental than in my EO2U party containing two Alchemists blowing stuff up independently.
That aside, I've been having a great time with the game!!! Beating it for the first time is huge and I am patting myself on the back so hard right now
Thanks for reading :]

Yes hi do you know if EO2 medics can also effectively whack the fuck out of anything and everything
unfortunately, I dunno. i’ve never really used a medic in EO2
anyone who’s played eo2, are combat medics still good there?

Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Nuzlocke
This is my first time trying a EO Challange Run. I kinda just wanna see how long it will last, and document my journey.
Ruleset:
Game will be played on Expert Difficulty, Classic Mode.
Only 1 character of each class will be created at the start of the game.
All character’s levels must be kept below the cap for each stratum.
The level cap for each stratum 3x the last floor of the stratum. (15 for 1st stratum, 30 for 2nd, etc).
Once a character dies in combat, they must be released from the guild; if the whole party is defeated/a game over is reached, all 5 characters must be released. Ressucitate, Revive and other revival skills are not allowed.
All characters get a second “life” after a game over during a boss battle, only once per boss per character.
Floor jump not allowed. Ariadne Thread is allowed.
May only reassign SP after defeating a Stratum Boss.
Grimoires are allowed.
Medica, Amrita and other healing itens are allowed.
BUYING Nectar is not allowed. Using it is.
The Plan
For exploration, a Survivalist is a must have. With a ruleset like this, surprise attacks could and will be fatal. Risk Perception and Stalker are needed as fast as possible. Keeping a Protector with Flee could also be useful for random encounters, especially early on, tho both of those can be taken out with Grimoires later.
For the first stratum boss, the plan is simple: Dark Hunter for Leg Bind, Troubador for Flame Fantasia, Alchemist for Ice damage, and Sovereign for Elemental Link and buffs. The last slot would be Survivalist, probably.
Of course all of this is insanely RNG-dependant, and the rules might be bent to better suit my own playstyle, but those are the rules I'm going to plan around. Wish me luck lol

do you have any recommendations for people going to japan?
do you have any recommendations for 3ds/ds/etc games someone could play on a 14 hour plane ride to japan?
Reccomendations for Japan, like in general?? Kinda vague, but lemme think and also tag @doktorpeace and @draayder for their thoughts too
-If you're going to Tokyo, Kabukicho is a MUST. It's the entertainment district! If there's anywhere in Tokyo you're not gonna look like a dumbass for walking around and gawking at things. It's Kabukicho. And there's plenty to gawk at! The square outside of Toho theater usually has something going on, there's TONS of small music venues, @doktorpeace once said something like 'you could eat at a different restaurant every day for every meal for a year and not run out of good places to eat in Kabukicho' and they are SO right. As a bonus if you've ever played a Yakuza/LaD/RGG game you almost definitely know most of the layout already. Kabukicho is not hard to navigate at all, and I'm sure that's intentional. Anyway. Go to Kabukicho. Explore the Don Quixote. Eat the food. Take a picture with the Godzilla statue. 10/10
-Honestly? I expected Harajuku to be a lot more expensive than it was, but then again the USD has more buying power than usual in Japan? Anyway the thing about Tokyo is that people there are intimidatingly trendy, I went there and now I understand why Splatoon is like that, the youths of Tokyo will wear their heavy black visual kei outfits during record-breaking heatwaves because fashion is THAT important. Anyway it's real easy to find good-quality clothes for reasonable prices there, and also a bunch of thrift shops full of cool stuff! You'll find a sweater for any American pro or college sports team you can think of and that's a promise. Fair warning, shibuya thrifting will not be significantly cheaper than regular retail, unless you're shopping for traditional Japanese clothing, in which case you absolutely should and I reccomend a store called Chicago, they had a HUGE selection. Spinns is a good store too, they also have a website that I keep meaning to order stuff from.......
-Osaka is really cool, but if you're there you're gonna want to stop by the Amerika-mura part of town. Very cool, very artsy, it feels kinda like Shibuya, if Shibuya was more like New York? Kinda?? The point is that it's VERY cool over there, there's a lot of art and neat places to get snacks and clothing stores. Absolutely check it out if you can
-the best burger I've ever had in my life was the kobe beef burger at Kokopelli. The guy who runs the place spent a lot of time in the states. I greeted him in Japanese and he said back 'hey guys what's up' in a perfect Midwestern accent. Anyway extremely good. Get some burgers there if you can
As for video games...... @doktorpeace played through Pokemon Ultra Sun on the plane ride. Don’t do that. Just play regular Sun/Moon. I was playing a lot of Octopath Traveler 2 and The World Ends With You Neo on that trip myself, and my partners both took turns with Pikmin 4 (which had just come out).
If you have a 3ds, basically any Shin Megami Tensei game you can get running on there would be a good choice, I personally reccomend SMT4/SMT4 Apocalypse and SMT Soul Hackers in terms of native hardware, I'm sure you could get the PS1 smt on there with some homebrewing and elbow grease, it can emulate basically everything up to the Sega Saturn just fine. Also Etrian Odyssey is really good, play the Untold versions on 3ds for 1 and 2 and the re-release on Switch for 3. 4, 5, and Nexus are all 3ds native. There's also a mystery dungeon game but it's only okay.
But uuuuuuh if you have like...a steam deck there's a LOT of Baldur's Gate. Like a lot. This game is huge. There are also two entire Psychonauts games! Did you know that?? Did you know you can play Psychonauts?? Did you know that is a game y

Just rediscovered a post about the April Fools EO3 Untold comic and part of me is now REALLY tempted to just recreate both Etrian Odyssey 1 and 2 Untold parties for my EO3HD playthrough, and work in some of my own characters as well for variety sake. This originally was going to just be my Highlander facing off against what seems to be Fafnir. Given there isn't much references for such an April Fools design, I went with the idea that Fafnir's right hand is a fiery apparition of its former self. The fight is likely to take place in either the 4th or 5th stratum (though I doubt I have the editing skills to compose custom battle animations in my custom cutscenes, so I highly doubt I'll lean too heavy in this direction when it comes to the LP as a whole, and just stick with the original game's storyline). As for the third character in this image, she's intended to be an important character my EO3HD guild will meet and journey through the game with, though right now, I only have a decent idea of how her design will go. I'll work on some ideas on my own time before making the final design and portraits, alongside finding a perfect name for her.

I have two theories for why fighting Enlil is Like That, particularly compared to the Clockwork God:
1: When looking up Etrian Odyssey final bosses to use as a comparison, they stumbled upon the Sixth Stratum bosses. It would be a reasonable mistake... if the games weren't made by the same company.
It would explain that random encounter table, though.
2: HP scaling is based entirely upon Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold, land of the giant damage sponges.

Went to the library today and—you guessed it—drew a third Etrian Odyssey Alchemist.
Tumblr media
This is Fynn! She's the Alchemist in my Etrian Odyssey 1 Untold guild.
Fynn was one of the few members of the Etrian Institute of Alchemy that were tasked with researching applications of alchemy in combat. To do this, she registered herself in a guild of explorers and with them delved into the Yggdrasil labyrinth.
Though she may appear aloof, she's quite friendly, albeit a tad too trusting in others, and tending to underestimate risks.

unironically i think they could remake persona 1 as a persona q game
dungeon crawling is first-person with random encounters and a map that fills in as you explore
combat has 5 party members at a time and turn order is similar to etrian odyssey, not like later persona games or many smt games
every character can use multiple personas, which could be reworked into every character being able to use a sub-persona
i feel like if they did this they would probably reduce overworld traveling and certain areas to a menu like in etrian odyssey and persona q/2, which would probably suck
they could either make it so you can only have five party members total with the fifth being player choice (how it is in the original, and like etrian odyssey untold) or you could have all nine available and switch them in and out of the party like in pq/2 and also every other persona game.
i feel like the elements in the game would be simplified, though, likely to just fire/ice/wind/elec. force was only in 1, earth was only in 1 and 2, and while nuke reappeared in 5 now it’s a counterpart to psy
it would be released on switch, since that’s the console etrian odyssey origins is on, but it could probably be ported to other consoles as well, although i’m not sure since the first two pq games were 3ds exclusive for obvious reasons
i really just want another etrian odyssey/persona q game i’m one of etrian odyssey’s 12 fans

Last song: According to Spotify the last one to play on my phone at work while stocking the cooler was Take It Out On Me by Thousand Foot Krutch. I just tossed on a 2000s Rock playlist because I need something that is Mostly Work Safe.
Currently reading: The Struggle by Jennifer L. Armentrout from her Titans Series which was the next story set after the Covenant Series. I like stories about Mythological beings.
Currently watching: The Suite Life On Deck. I have seen it before but I am mostly playing it as background noise because I'm too tired to focus on anything I haven't seen before and actually want to watch.
Current obsession: Etrian Odyssey 1. I beat the EO1 Untold on 3DS ages ago but they just released EO1 HD on the Switch. I find dungeon crawler and having to draw the map myself to be somewhat soothing. An yes I'm playing on easy mode cause I played the story once even if it was with the Untold cast of characters made specifically for Untold. I named the team after my FFXIV characters. My Landsknecht lady is Destiney, the Dark Hunter is Ronove, the Medic is Aryn, the Survivalist is Nebula, and the Alchemist is Stefan. My secondary party the Protector is Lancefer, the Troubadour is Valentin, the Hexer is Cedrik, the Ronin is Keaira, and the second Medic is Adelena. I'll probably work on 2 & 3 after since they also got the HD Switch treatment.

Since Etrian Odyssey Collections have been out for a while, where new and old fans have finally been able to try their hands at the three classics, I'm curious to know if anyone's favourite game have changed. The last time I did this poll, Untold2 was the winner. Let's see who the winner of this poll will be~
