a/n: here it is!! I've been trying to stay on top of writing, but it's been so hectic this summer and school is starting up so soon )):... but I wanted to release the first part! I hope you enjoy!! ((:
Tumblr media
It started as a good day.
It was your typical autumn morning. The skies were clear with just the perfect amount of wind that didn’t make it too cold – the perfect type of weather you could get away with leaving your warm home with a pair of shorts and an oversized hoodie.
You greeted your mother good morning, her usual scolding face when you tell her that you’ll be home late because of volleyball practice. Her face contorts, like it always does, as she mumbles after you that “you’ll look more like your brother if you keep gaining all that muscle,” and “I’ve given birth to two twin boys.”, no longer bothered you as you continue your merry way out of the house.
The drive to school wasn’t too long due to how early you had left. It was calm and you liked that during your morning drives; no stupid drivers, no one trying to cut you off, no one honking at you, it was great. However, as you happily pulled into your parking spot, you didn’t expect your mood to shift upon seeing your angry teammates standing around the gym entrance with their back turned towards you.
Tumblr media
“You cut the girl’s team?” You angrily shoved the paper into the men’s coach’s face, purposely blocking his vision from the boys that were practicing in your gym during what was supposed to be your practice time. The same anger from when you had found the paper on the door of your gymnasium still radiating off of you when you had decided that the boy’s head coach needed to be talked to.
“Tragic, isn’t it? Not enough players, not enough funding either.” Coach Nim shrugs, pushing aside the paper, his eyes focusing back on the boys as they continue to play against each other, “If you ladies know any way I could help, let me know.”
“Actually,” You reply, “let us try out for the boys team!” The rest of the girls nodded their heads, as Coach Nim snorted, doubling over in laughter, he heaved before he noticed that he was the only one laughing, and abruptly stopped, sputtering out.
“Oh, you’re serious?”
“Coach, you’ve seen us play,” You say, “we’re good enough! We literally won inter-highs! I don’t think your boys can say the same.” You seethed watching the man in front of you stiffen, clearly hitting a sore spot.
“Listen,” Coach Nim turns towards you with hard eyes, “Boys are stronger and faster than girls, there’s just no way you girls could keep up with my boys. Don’t waste their time, or mine, just accept that your team got cut.”
Before you could respond, Somi and Euna grip your arms, pulling you back as Jin and the rest of the boys make their way beside Coach Nim.
Kim Seokjin; or Jin, as everyone called him.
The most popular volleyball player in your school. He’s handsome, smart, and not only is he part of the starting lineup for your school’s volleyball team, but he’s also the captain. The two of you met years ago back in middle school but didn’t start going out until your freshman year of high school; him being your upperclassmen, it came as a shock to everyone that the Kim Seokjin was dating Jung Y/n, a nobody. However, that changed when you had decided to try out for the girl’s volleyball team. You had been playing volleyball with Somi and Euna since middle school, but you hadn’t thought about trying out for the high school team as you three weren’t confident against your upperclassman’s, scared you wouldn’t be up to their standards.  Even though you weren’t one to shy away from conversations, you were still reserved, only talking and socializing when you needed to; the rest of the times you were maintaining your grades in order to keep your appeal to universities with impressive academic scores. It was then that your guidance counselor had recommended that you try out for a sports team, another way to enhance your appeal to universities and colleges. You weren’t too excited about it, only because you knew exactly how your mother would be when she found out that you were doing sports, something that she believes was not for women. However, that didn’t stop you from trying out—and shockingly, you made it in. By the end of your freshman year, you were no longer a nobody, and you were no longer just Jin’s girlfriend, but you were Jung Y/n, the best female Ace Cypress has ever seen. Now, four years later and half way into university—and still considered the best female player—your team gets cut due to the lack of funding? You were willing to fight for a spot on the boys team just to secure your future of wanting to go pro.
“Hey jagiya, what’s wrong?” Jin speaks carefully, eyeing the situation between you and his coach, along with taking in that all of the girls were angrily staring at him behind you.
“Our team got cut and we want to try out for the boys team.” You confidently say. The entire boys team howls with laughter, which causes you to shrink slightly at the mockery; instead, you brush it off, straightening up again and glare at the rest of the boys.
“Seokjin, why are you laughing?” You hissed, “You know that our girls team is just as good as yours—and if I’m not mistaking, at least we have the inter-high’s under our belts.”
This statement causes the boys team to abruptly stop, the rest of them complaining to their captain and telling him “You gonna let her disrespect us like that?”
“Better put a leash on your girl, cap.” Namjoon snickers; a larger boy on the team with short black hair who plays middle block, and Jin’s best friend. You and Namjoon were never friends—he only tolerated you because you’re his best friend’s girl, and you only tolerated him because he’s your boyfriend’s best friend; however, the two of you never really got along to begin with—and the fact that Jin had the audacity to chuckle at his crude joke set you off.
What kind of boyfriend doesn’t defend his own girlfriend when his best friend is making jabs so openly?
“You’re seriously going to let this bulky bitch talk to me that way?” You snarled, stepping closer but being stopped again by Somi and Euna; Jin masks his laughter behind his coughs to muster out an excuse, but Namjoon beats him to it.
“At least Jin didn’t have to feed off of your popularity to make a name for himself, oh wait…” He pauses smirking, “You never were popular to begin with, isn’t that right, Ms. Nobody?”
“I’m more of a somebody than you are, Kim Namjoon,” You spat, “At least the whole school knows my name and I’m not shadowed by your beloved Captain.”
“At least I didn’t have to sleep with the captain to make a name for myself!”
“That’s rich coming from you, you fucking manwho—”
“Okay, settle down.” Coach Nim interrupts before Namjoon tries to come forward but is  stopped by your so-called boyfriend.
“I’m not telling you again, Jung. Girls are not trying out for my team.”
Letting out a sigh and cracking your neck, you stare at Jin, “Well, with all due respect coach, but maybe we should let the captain decide?” You wholeheartedly believed that Jin wouldn’t jeopardize your future, if there’s anyone that knows you better, it’s him—and he knows how much you rely on this season to gain more endorsements to help you fulfil your dreams of going pro.
“I think that coach is right. There’s not much more for me to say.”
Your heart drops to your stomach as you stared at the man that you thought you knew. Those hypnotizing chocolate eyes that had encouraged you to chase your dreams, the very same ones that told you he’d do anything for you to help you attain that goal, just crushed your hopes and dreams in two sentences.
“Are you kidding me right now?” You whispered, “You know how much this season means to us!” You yelled.
“Look—there’s nothing more I can do or say,” Jin says, becoming the asshole he was for show, “Plus, you’re girls, you can’t jump as high as us, you’re not as fast at receiving, and you’re not as strong to set the same sets continuously.” He threw in your face, “So, what could you guys really do for our team?”
“Are you fucking kidding me!” You cry, “You even said that I was the best the school has ever seen! Jin, please! We can do it!”
The boys behind Jin were sourly looking at the rest of your team. Mumbles of “Jin would never say that.” And “Are you delusional? Was echoing throughout the gym, the girls behind you stared in sadness at you as you tried to reason with them.
“I would never say that. You’re all great, but you really wouldn’t be an asset to our team.” Jim calmly says not looking at you. A trait you know he does when he’s in the wrong, Jin can’t give eye contact to anyone when he lies.
“Why are you doing this? Why are you lying!” You scream calling him out, how could he jeopardize the girls team like this? How could he do this when he had promised that you would for sure get all those endorsements this year? Had he known that this was going to happen?
“Y/n, that’s enough. Coach said his piece, and I’ve said mine. You’re not trying out for the team, especially not with our first game against Ridgecrest just a few weeks away. Sorry but it’s not happening, end of discussion.” Your stare hardens as the boys patted his back, praising him for what ever reason. Jin has straightened up, looking more like a captain than ever, at one point in your life you would’ve loved to see him look as confident as this.
But right now, you hated, despised, that he was so smug.
“Fine,” You scoff, “End of relationship.” You turn on your heel to leave before Jin gently grabs your wrist, Jin’s face no longer holding his asshole smirk and is replaced with his eyes filled with worry.
“Hey—Jagiya,” He sputters out, “No, c’mon, I just—I don’t want to see you get hurt!” You angrily pressed your fingers down into the volleyball, seething with annoyance.
“Oh, fuck off,” You spun around, “You’re so full of shit.” Ripping your arm away from him and chucking the volleyball against his face, you leave the gymnasium with the rest of your girls without looking back.

yongie, i just watched euna kim's documentary. she was in superstar k, then become a yg trainee. she gets out of yg and debuted with girlgroup "the ark" which they only have one song before disbanding. after that she participated in "unpretty rapstar 3", and then "the unit". after all that, she debuted in a duo-group "khan" which they also have only one song before disbanding.
she was truly talented and she also looked like a very nice person like she has a very positive vibes around her. i think she is an artist who's the kpop industry failed the most. is it possible she never achieve any success even after all that experience because she lacks connection, sponsors, and money? or even refuse to be involved in "special favors" for the higher ones in the industry? ;-;
she also mentioned that her company told her she can't have a part time job anymore because it makes them look bad that their celebrity have to do a normal job to support themselves and because of that she had to do a "secret" nighttime job at the bars where she got a lot of sexual harassment.
i just think that our idols must sacrifice so so much to be in their position right now. no wonder they have to do some scary shit in order to debut because just train hard even for years will get you nowhere 💔 💔💔
I personally don’t know Euna Kim nor have I watched her documentary. It if indeed unfortunate that she wasn’t sure to reach her goals and dreams, and it also reminds us that working in the industry isn’t easy. Not everyone has the chance to do so and even those who have the chance, had to give so much of themselves.
It is possible that her lack of sponsorship and financial support/connections might have had an impact on her outcome, but since I don’t know her and never made any reading I cannot be sure. But it’s a possibility

once again, all trainees from lime entertainment, sr media, and studio delta are gathered in the auditorium at the seoul arts center. the dust has settled since wrapping up the last of the private feedback methods when it comes to evaluations—some with a lot to say and others of few words—all coaches remained completely silent immediately following the completion of each performance. if anyone questioned it, they simply explained that they’d need to discuss privately before giving their final feedback.
judgment day has come and all trainees anxiously await just what their coaches are going to say as they take the stage again, notes in hand.
“first of all, i want to congratulate all trainees on a job well done. everyone completed the assignment without any injury or major catastrophe,” lee haesun from sr media speaks first, smiling into her microphone as she surveys the crowd as if to make eye contact with each and every one of the trainees in front of her. “while we do have notes, we’re pleased with what we’re seeing from our trainees overall. great job, everyone,”
lime entertainment’s kim chanhee clears his throat before taking his turn to speak. “all that said, no one had a perfect performance. you were all given complete control over this evaluation; no requirements or limitations to try to work within. while many of your played to your strengths, you may have highlighted your weaknesses by mistake in doing so.”
“as a team, we’ve decided what aspect of your performance needed the most immediate improvement,” yoo youngmin, the studio delta representative coach, takes over the conversation. “and rather than just present you with the problems, we’re also assigning tasks to fix them. for the next month, some of your free training periods will be dedicated to various lessons or activities that will help improve your overall performance as a future idol.”
youngmin, haesun, and chanhee all straighten out the papers in front of them, referencing their notes one more time, before they start to call trainees one by one, telling them what their performance lacked and how they plan to fix it.
“KIM DANNY,” chanhee calls his company’s trainee by name, “we all noted that using a prop in your performance was an interesting choice to provide a little more interest to the performance. however, we felt that you didn’t utilize it in the most creative or engaging ways. we didn’t feel the purpose of the fan, just an acknowledgement that you had one in your hand. for that reason, we’ve enrolled you in improv acting classes for the next month. our hope is that you’ll start looking at performance props in more creative ways after these lessons.”
chanhee glances at his list before calling the next trainee. “LEE CHAERIN, we all felt that your performance felt a bit… dated. while it’s nice to call back to the classics and acknowledge the seniors who helped create this industry, it’s also important to be up to date on the current trends and competition. you’ll be working with coaches in a sort of kpop boot camp, studying the current trending groups and the most popular songs of the last year. if you want to succeed in this industry, being educated on it is a must.”
haesun takes over for the sr media trainees, calling out one name after the next. “SHIN EUNAE, we’ve seen great improvement in your dance abilities since you joined the company. however, we’re still concerned about your flexibility and strength. to help encourage you beyond what’s covered in our basic dance lessons, you’ll be attending flying yoga classes for the next month. while i hope you do have some fun with it, it’s an activity that’s very demanding of your core strength and flexibility.”
“SHIN YUJI,” haesun calls the next name on her list, “your performance was nearly a perfect replica of yuna’s original, which would be amazing, except we don’t want you to be a copy machine who just spits out the same thing as her seniors. we felt that your performance lacked personal identity, so in order to help you better connect with yourself and your own creativity, we’ve arranged for guided mediation sessions and ask for you to follow self-discovery journal prompts this month.”
the next trainee on her list is called out, “SONG CHAEYEON, while we appreciate your willingness to step outside of your comfort zone and try a new concept, we couldn’t help but notice… it really doesn’t suit you. while we don’t mean to assume anything about your personal life, we suspect that you’re not very experienced in matters of romance and sensuality. our solution to this one is a bit unorthodox. for the next month, we’re asking you to watch and read romance dramas, movies, and novels and take notes on the emotions of the story. sometime this month, a coach will accompany you to a host cafe to practice going on a ‘date’ with a host there. it’s a safe way to give you the experience we feel you lack.”
finally, youngmin takes over for the studio delta trainees. “HAN SAEM,” he calls out, “while you’re a very graceful dancer, grace isn’t often what’s needed in male choreographies. we want to see more power out of your performance. to help build this strength, we’re enrolling you in boxing classes for the month. we have a private trainer who will assist you in strengthening your body and hopefully teaching you to use it in a more powerful manner as well.”
the trainees are all instructed to work hard at their assigned tasks and lessons, though not to neglect their regular classes as well before they are dismissed and returned to their home companies.
at the end of the month, each trainee will meet with a coach who worked closely with them during their assignments and have a one-on-one review. the trainees will be asked what they learned, how helpful they felt the task was, and how they plan to apply the skills learned to their training going forward.
OOC:
this event is for trainees only and will run until april 12 at 11:59pm. any threads or solos posted after the deadline will not count toward points. please send in your points submission before this deadline.
please use the hashtag #BE:SOLOEVAL for all posts relating to this event.
