derek is the youngest of the everleigh family. his father is a senator, which means that a lot of his family life is broadcasted to the news, but most of it is fake. derek is probably the most forgotten member by the press. when i say that i mean, literally people will forget that he’s there and if you look up pictures of the everleigh family online, he’s only in like one picture because he had several panic attacks at social events and his father just gave up trying to get him to be normal. everyone in his family has something they’re known for, but he’s kind of the black sheep of the family. he likes being forgotten. derek’s always known that he was different from the rest of his family. for various reasons, but mainly that he honestly likes to be alone and not in the spotlight.

he has always done his best not to stand out among his peers. he doesn’t drop his name or talk about his parents or anything because he knows that he’d rather not be treated differently for being a senator’s son. derek has had social anxiety disorder since he was a child. even talking to people can give him a panic attack. though he’s learned the warning signs and knows how to avoid getting into situations like that, it’ll still happen occasionally. he does take medication for it, which has always annoyed his father -- who doesn’t believe that depression and anxiety are real.

though he’s forgotten by the public and media -- he isn’t at home. his father is almost hyper aware of derek’s existence and being so close to washington, dc, his father spends a lot of time at home. although most nights are okay and derek just got away with being yelled at, but there have been times when his father has gotten so angry, that he’s gotten physical. derek tries his best to avoid his father at all costs, but that’s not entirely simple.

derek didn’t fit in anywhere. in high school, he mostly spent time alone rather than with a specific crowd. he was a wallflower and he’s okay with not fitting in anywhere. despite that, he’s a major nerd. while he didn’t have the grades to show for that, he loves video games and plays dungeons and dragons – one of the few ways he can be social with other people and have the confidence to talk comfortably.

he has two older brothers and an older sister, all of which are the “golden children” of the family. where as derek’s always just been labeled as a freak and a disappointment by pretty much everyone in his family. he does however, get along with his middle brother -- despite their six year age difference. they aren’t similar, but the older boy always looked after derek and sometimes tried to stop their father from yelling at derek.

he realized that he was gay when he was eleven years old because he just wasn’t into girls like the rest of the boys his age. and the way his most of his family feels about gay people, he's kind of kept it hidden from everyone. in fact, derek went to school all the way on the other side of the country because he figured it was easier to be on the other side of the country and away from his dad. he’s kind of kept it to himself except for a couple people that either figured it out or he was close enough to tell. he decided on baldwain purely based on the fact that the west coast is more accepting, seattle has a larger male population than a lot of other cities because of it’s amount of IT jobs, and baldwin has a good writing program.

basically, he’s an anxiety ridden boy that just wants to play d&d for the rest of his life. and his personality is pretty much just shy. like he’s very nice when you talk to him, but being around people is such a pain for him. he does try, but he also would rather just not be around people.

YouTubers Cole and Sav pranked their daughter by pretending to disown their puppy

YouTubers Cole and Sav LaBrant are in post-April Fools' Day hot water after playing a particularly harsh prank on Savannah's daughter Everleigh.

In a video uploaded on Monday, the parents inform Everleigh that they're getting rid of their pet Pomeranian, Carl. Everleigh, who loves Carl — obviously, because she's six and also look at him — is devastated.

"Basically, we're giving Carl away to someone else because we feel like we can't take good enough care of him at our house," Sav tells the camera. "We feel like we're always gone, we're always filming, we're out and about or at dance competitions all day, and we're always just busy doing stuff."

Everleigh spends much of the monologue nestled into the couch cushions, crying.

They also tell Everleigh that she gets to choose who adopts Carl, which is a weird amount of pressure to put on a six-year-old. "Who would you want to give Carl away to, Ev?" Cole says. Everleigh, who still staring blankly into the middle distance, shrugs.

At the end of her monologue, Sav tells Everleigh that it's all an April Fools' joke. Everleigh does not laugh.

"She's so mad," Cole says.

In the last portion of the video, Everleigh gets a bit of a revenge plot — she puts some mustard on some ice cream and her dad eats it. Still, a lot of viewers found the Carl prank overly cruel.

The prank is certainly... a lot. Cole asks Everleigh "what's wrong" several times, prompting her to explain her sadness to the camera. And citing Everleigh's dance competitions as one of the reasons she can't have her dog anymore is, by virtue of common sense, not the kind of thing you should tell a child.

This isn't the first time the couple has uploaded a questionable video. In August, they were widely criticized for implying they had to evacuate during the California wildfires, even though their area was never technically evacuated.

And their popularity on YouTube raises questions about videos featuring children. In February, YouTube disabled comments on videos featuring minors (with a few exceptions). In theory, this should protect Everleigh somewhat. But it's worth thinking about the ethics of broadcasting a six-year-old's life — including her moments of emotional injury — to a channel with almost 9 million followers. When Everleigh is an adult, what will she think of all this?

he has always done his best not to stand out among his peers. he doesn’t drop his name or talk about his parents or anything because he knows that he’d rather not be treated differently for being a senator’s son. derek has had social anxiety disorder since he was a child. even talking to people can give him a panic attack. though he’s learned the warning signs and knows how to avoid getting into situations like that, it’ll still happen occasionally. he does take medication for it, which has always annoyed his father – who doesn’t believe that depression and anxiety are real.

though he’s forgotten by the public and media – he isn’t at home. his father is almost hyper aware of derek’s existence. his father spends a lot of time at home or in city hall downtown. although most nights are okay and derek just got away with being yelled at, but there have been times when his father has gotten so angry, that he’s gotten physical. derek tries his best to avoid his father at all costs, but that’s not entirely simple.

derek didn’t fit in anywhere. in high school, he mostly spends time alone rather than with a specific crowd. he is a wallflower and he’s okay with not fitting in anywhere. despite that, he’s a major nerd. while he didn’t have the grades to show for that, he loves video games and plays dungeons and dragons – one of the few ways he can be social with other people and have the confidence to talk comfortably.

he has two older brothers and an older sister, all of which are the “golden children” of the family. where as derek’s always just been labeled as a freak and a disappointment by pretty much everyone in his family. he does however, get along with his middle brother – despite their six year age difference. they aren’t similar, but the older boy always looked after derek and sometimes tried to stop their father from yelling at derek.

he realized that he was gay when he was eleven years old because he just wasn’t into girls like the rest of the boys his age. and the way his most of his family feels about gay people, he’s kind of kept it hidden from everyone. in fact, the only person that knows derek is gay is his best friend, danny. other than that, he keeps his sexuality hidden from everyone.

derek is basically an anxiety ridden boy that just wants to play d&d for the rest of his life. and his personality is pretty much just shy. like he’s very nice when you talk to him, but being around people is such a pain for him. he does try, but he also would rather just not be around people.

Every time I hear NATE’S THEME by GREG EDMUNSON, they come to mind. They’re known around Valmont University for being ANTI-SOCIAL, but also RELIABLE. derek is the youngest of the everleigh family. his father owns a big corporation, which means that a lot of his family life is broadcasted to the news, but most of it is fake. derek is probably the most forgotten member by the press. when i say that i mean, literally people will forget that he’s there and if you look up pictures of the everleigh family online, he’s only in like one picture because he had several panic attacks at social events and his father just gave up trying to get him to be normal. everyone in his family has something they’re known for, but he’s kind of the black sheep of the family. he likes being forgotten. derek’s always known that he was different from the rest of his family. for various reasons, but mainly that he honestly likes to be alone and not in the spotlight.
