Novak Djokovic eyes 10th Roland Garros semi-final | Tennis News
PARIS: Novak Djokovic targets a 10th Roland Garros semi-final on Wednesday as he faces Pablo Carreno Busta, the man who was on the other side of the net when the world number one was sensationally defaulted at the US Open. Victory will give the top seed and the 2016 champion a last-four clash against either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Andrey Rublev who are in the quarter-finals in Paris for the first time. Head-to-head: Djokovic leads 3-1 — World number one Djokovic has moved effortlessly into a 14th quarter-final in Paris and 47th overall in the majors as he targets a second French Open and 18th Grand Slam. He has dropped just 25 games through four rounds and now sits three wins away from becoming the first man in half a century — and only the third in history — to win all four Slams twice. The 33-year-old’s only heart-stopping moment came in his last 16 win over Karen Khachanov when a ball ricocheted off the frame of his racquet and accidentally smashed into the face of a line judge. “My gosh, it was a very awkward deja vu,” said the Serb who last month was disqualified from the US Open for an angry swipe of a ball which hit a female line judge squarely in the throat. That was Djokovic’s only ‘defeat’ against 35 wins this year. Carreno Busta, the world number 18, has lost both his meetings to Djokovic on clay, in Monte Carlo in 2014 and 2017. The 29-year-old made the quarter-finals at the US Open and was also in the last eight in Paris in 2017. However, that experience ended in heartbreak with an abdominal injury forcing him to quit against Rafael Nadal after just 52 minutes. Carreno Busta, who needed treatment on a stomach problem in last 16 win over Daniel Altmaier on Monday, says that Djokovic’s legacy should not be permanently scarred by the incident in New York. “I think Novak is a great player, a great person. Sometimes we cannot control our emotions. A mistake,” said the Spaniard. Path to the quarter-finals (x indicates seeded player): Djokovic 1st rd: bt Mikael Ymer (SWE) 6-0, 6-2, 6-3 2nd rd: bt Ricardas Berankis (LTU) 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 3rd rd: bt Daniel Galan (COL) 6-0, 6-3, 6-2 4th rd: bt Karen Khachanov (RUS x15) 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 Carreno Busta 1st rd: bt John Millman (AUS) 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 2nd rd: bt Guido Pella (ARG) 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 3rd rd: bt Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP x10) 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 4th rd: bt Daniel Altmaier (GER) 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 Head-to-head: Rublev leads 2-1 — Less than two weeks after Rublev defeated Tsitsipas in the Hamburg claycourt final, the pair meet again in their debut appearances in the last eight in Paris. Rublev, the 22-year-old with a mop of unruly red hair, has been a picture of flashy shot-making and defiance in Paris as he reached a third career Slam quarter-final to follow similar runs in New York in 2017 and last month. In four matches at the tournament, his opponents have served for sets on eight occasions but Rublev has been equal to the task every time. The Russian has five career titles, three of which have come in this truncated season. Only Djokovic with four can boast a better record. World number six Tsitsipas, also 22, is equally flamboyant. He is the first Greek to get this far in Paris and will be playing in the quarter-finals of a major for just the second time following his breakout run at the 2019 Australian Open where he made the semi-finals, defeating Roger Federer on the way. “Andrey is a tough cookie,” said Tsitsipas. Path to the quarter-finals (x indicates seeded player): Rublev 1st rd: bt Sam Querrey (USA) 6-7 (5/7), 6-7 (4/7), 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 2nd rd: bt Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ESP) 7-5, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 3rd rd: bt Kevin Anderson (RSA) 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 4th rd: bt Marton Fucsovics (HUN) 6-7 (4/7), 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 (7/3) Tsitsipas 1st rd: bt Jaume Munar (ESP) 4-6, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 2nd rd: bt Pablo Cuevas (URU) 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 3rd rd: bt Aljaz Bedene (SLO) 6-1, 6-2, 3-1 – retired 4th rd: bt Grigor Dimitrov (BUL x18) 6-3, 7-6 (11/9), 6-2

What are your 10 favourite moments from Dragon Ball Super?
Hmm, only ten? That’s a toughie. Well, I’d have to re-watch the show in full again to definitively give a proper answer, but off the top of my head, here’s 10 moments that stick out to me:
10: The Super Saiyan God ritual. Does it go on a bit too long? Yeah, but so what, this scene was beautiful.
9: Frieza blowing up the earth. For all the issues with the Resurrection F saga, Super REALLY made this particular moment a lot more impactful and it was pretty well animated to boot. Very nice and haunting.
8: Goku backhanding Zamasu. That was hilarious and awesome.
7: The scene with Goten and Trunks in the jewellery shop from episode 1. The dub version of that scene cracks me up so much.
6: Whis practically having an orgasm from eating earth food in episode 16. I may not understand Japanese, but his voice actor plus the animation just made that moment SO DARN FUNNY! I hope the dub version is as fun to watch.
5: Vegeta vs Cabba. Admittedly the fight isn’t much to start out with, but once Cabba goes super saiyan it’s a load of fun seeing him wail on Vegeta, and the dialogue between the two was very well done and speaks volumes to Vegeta’s development and the depths to his character. I REALLY hope the show delves deeper into the mentor-student relationsip between these characters in the future, because I REALLY want to see more done with it.
4: Vegito vs Merged Zamasu and Future Trunks cutting the monster in half with a spirit-bomb powered energy sword. Okay, on the one hand, the former was rushed and the latter made little to no sense about how Trunks could unconsciously create a spirit bomb, so while Vegito’s time limit at least works within the logic of the series that latter moment was lazy writing and hurts the impact of the scene on a critical level. On the other hand? SCREW THAT, these moments were AWESOME!
I’m disappointed by the execution and the follow up in the next episode, but honestly I love watching these scenes and this episode. The animation, the dialogue, the music and just the general feel of these moments were AMAZING. Nothing in any Dragon Ball related media has really come as close to re-capturing the feeling I got from watching Dragon Ball Z as a child. Maybe that speaks more about me and my psyche, but honestly even with the writing issues these moments were just beautiful for me to watch and always get me excited without fail, so I gotta give Super props for getting the feeling of Dragon Ball right. For all the shows faults, there is some of that Dragon Ball magic there that only this franchise seems to have. The thing I find lacking in GT despite my constant attempts to really enjoy it. It’s still not at the top of the list for the writing issues of course, but if they worked around that this would be one of the best climaxes in all of Dragon Ball.
3: Everything in episode 43. I can’t pick a favourite moment, this episode was just perfect.
2: Barry Kahn trying to screw over Gohan by showing Videl pictures of Coco kissing him, trying to convince Videl that Gohan was cheating on her… only for Videl to rip up the photos and declare that Gohan would never do such a thing and calling Barry out for being pathetic. YOU GO GIRL! This could be my new favourite moment with Videl.
1: Goku vs Hit. The set-up was brilliant, the fight was intense and well animated, Hit is a great character and a unique kind of rival for Goku that’s different enough from all his previous rival characters that their dynamic feels fresh and interesting, and oh yeah, X10 KAIO KEN PLUS SUPER SAIYAN BLUE IS EPIC! This may be one of my favourite fights in the entire franchise, it was so perfect.
Honorable mentions: Goku Black’s introduction. The epic fight in episode 57. Future Mai sniping at Black and then later taking a shot at him as a distraction to give Future Trunks an opening. Beerus’ introduction. Future Trunks interacting with Gohan and his family, especially Pan. Yamcha being an ace at baseball. Future Trunks and Vegeta’s sparring session. Goku Black becoming Super Saiyan Rose for the first time and stabbing Vegeta. The first fight with Goku and Goku Black. Vegeta vs Magetta. Mr Satan offering Goku the 10 million Zenni. Pretty much every scene involving Krillin’s self doubts and his overcoming them in these last two episodes. Super Great Saiyaman. Goten deciding he’s too cool to wear his mini Great Saiyaman outfit. Gohan giving an awesome speech to Shisami only for Tagoma to shoot a hole through both of them (Yeah it’s not a great moment for Gohan, but props to Tagoma’s great strategy). Beerus deleting present Zamasu. Gohan and Mr Satan playing around with Pan only for Chichi to show up and throw a fit. The start of episode 75 with Goku and Gohan’s sparring session. Goku fighting Hit again. Vegeta vs Arale. Bulma talking to 18 about Krillin in episode 68. Future Trunks’ departure at the end of episode 67 (Ignoring the issues with that episode, that and Future Mai’s emotional breakdown were fantastic moments). Goku and Zen-Oh becoming friends. Vegeta cooking. Bulma flying around like a crazy person while Vegeta stood on top of their air-ship in episode 2. Piccolo vs Frost…
Look, there’s a lot of good moments in Super, alright. I can’t list them all in one post if I tried.
