Nekromantik 2 (1991) Monika digs up a familiar grave and is a necrophiliac, however her life is changing as she meets someone normal. Will she leave her past behind or is it something she can’t get past? After the mind destroying first film, I knew that I was ready for the second and in my head it couldn’t get any worse... thankfully... it didn’t! Nekromantik 2 feels like a shit version of its predecessor. It’s a drawn out affair that starts to take itself a bit more serious, trying to establish a bit of a more serious storyline. However what made the first what it is, is it’s outright lunacy, I felt I was being beat in a corner with no reprieve with the first, however this throws some pretty big punches, but also throws some pretty poor ones. The acting is average, there’s nothing here that stands out apart from maybe Monika setting her normality aside to lay with a corpse. The soundtrack isn’t as poignant as the first, and if you’re planning on watching this loud, don’t, various sex noise laden scenes will have everyone thinking you’ve forgotten to press mute! The soundtrack is also a lot less unimpressive than the first which follows the film of it feeling second best to the first one. That’s really all she wrote, my venture into the Nekromantik franchise is dead! I will never watch them again, but for what it’s worth at least number one shocked me, number 2 is literally that, second best! Overall, though not as shocking as the first instalment, Nekromantik 2 is a poor imitation that never really needed to be made! I wouldn’t recommend to anyone other than to see what happened after the first if you’re desperate! The limited edition from @arrowvideo comes again with Polaroids, a collectors booklet and housed in a hardback slipcover! Cinematographer David Eggby, a lifelong motorcyclist, was literally strapped onto a bike for parts of the shoot. “I couldn’t wear a helmet because you can’t operate a camera with one; it gets in the way,” he explains. "Terry Gibson was the president of the Vigilanties. He was riding, dressed as Goose. They put a seatbelt strap around both of us and we went for it, and you can see on the speedo that it’s cracking 180 kilometers per hour [about 110 mph]. The camera was quite heavy. I relaxed once, the map box got caught in the windblast and I nearly lost it!""

Nekromantik (1987) Rob is a street cleaner who removes dead bodies at crime scenes. His life is about to change in ways he couldn’t have imagined when he enters a twisted love triangle. Nekromantik is shocking, that’s to say the least, I had my reservations about watching this from the start but in the name of film decided to do so, I’m still not sure if it was a good or bad idea! From the mind of Jorg Buttgereit this crazy film is an absolute battering of your head for 72 minutes. It’s one clubbing after another of some horrific imagery and disgusting situations. The acting is dedicated, I’ll give em that, and makes for a hell of a sadistic show! The film doesn’t really have a narrative, but it’s ideas that have a 5 minute spell talking about desensitisation and the links between death etc are quite interesting... it’s just there’s only really a couple of times you get them! The soundtrack is really good, it’s probably one of the best things about the film, the whimsical and quite happy score goes alongside some grisly scenes which makes it all feel normal... in an eerie way! There’s not much I can say really in terms of not giving away the film, or not bringing up your dinner, it’s a see it to believe it type of job which is something I probably wouldn’t suggest! Overall, if you’re a fan of this kinda stuff, or your morbid curiosity has gotten the better of you, give it a watch, everyone else id steer clear, but just be known, you’ve been warned!
