After what is probably a year, maybe more, I have put Rida-Benie back together with the @andersonsallpurpose eyemech! I really missed her! I���d been “stuck” on trying to make the eyelids work and when the cosmomoore pullip arrived, I got out the eyelids to compare with the mods to the others and realised the approach was all wrong: I wasn’t going to make them fit: wrong angle, wrong size. So I used friendly plastic to make a thin plastic flap molded to the proper angle, painted a black acrylic rectangle at the base, glued+selotaped them down and added lashes like normal lids. Might need to curl the lashes up a little. This method would also work for no mech with acrylic eyes instead of the “double eye lash and photograph from good angles” method.

Also switched out her annoying obitsu27 for the generic busty body (bought another one to mod for lootenant Dan-na). Thinking about selling the obitsu27 hardbust for cheap or trade if anyone’s interested, it’s still horribly tight and creaky but likes to pop out of the lower belly joint.

I’m going to save up for a pale curvy made to move for pullip #6. It could be a while before she comes together, she’s currently blank and I need to decide whether to invest in sealant and try myself (!) or find a EU based faceup artist that still works with non-resin & simple styles.

Here’s my wish to you: if you have a project that is very old and biding it’s time, here’s hoping that the right spark will happen and it’ll come together. 💕

I received one of those cheapo blythe repro (it's a gift from a friend, she doesn't know they are not originals?).

I decided to open her up and attempt a custom. Most of the tutorials I found just say "lol just use brute force. Bend the plastic and yank it out" but the plastic is quite stiff and brittle (yes it really is the cheapest copy out there) so I can't get the eyemech out. If I warm her up, I am pretty sure she will just melt.

Welp.. That's not a good start... i feel the frustration rising.

Ok after almost a month, I'm getting out the Unoa Zero Latea to really look at her. The face (and hands ... and body) that launched a credit card meltdown and subsequent frantic no-spend month. Of course she's gorgeous.

I'm not in love with the faceup she came with, but I borrowed Eva's black/purple wig and that looks good together. Got my first look inside her head at the eyemech when I swapped eyes to these gold ones. Interesting.

She now has the dubious distinction of being the first 1/3 size doll to actually topple and whack me in the head. At least she's among the lightest I have. :/

Her body! Is gorgeous! But slippery as fuck. Her hips are the worst. She cannot stand, even leaning against the wall, with any trustworthiness. Her torso joint has beautiful mobility but too slippery!

Elbows are great, ankle pointing flawless. Knees quite good as well. I'm not sure yet what's going on with the weird string inside her knees but I'll take her apart eventually for cleaning and review the manual again.

In the first photo up there, I more or less plopped her down and she just assumed that pretty position. She's easy to pose, hard to get to stay put.

Eye mech repair part 2 (unfinished, to be continued):

I soaked the eyechips in a tissue of alcohol for about 20 minutes then rubbed with qtips and gently scraped with a needle down the ridges of the ‘iris’ part to remove the paint.

Now for the superglue damage: I used medium grit (4) then polish grit (7) after securing the eyechip on sticky tack. There was damage inside though so I ripped off parts of the sanding block paper, flipped the eyechip upside down on the sticky tack and used them on the inside of the pupil. For the iris part, I just couldn’t get in (too small areas) but gently rubbing vaseline on a qtip into the frosted areas helped restore some shine. Thanks to this tutorial.

For the lashes, you cut 1 human fake eyelash in half, bend it with pliers and use simple white glue to apply (wait five minutes for it to go tacky) with the longer parts towards to the outside of the eye.

You’ll notice that I removed part of the plastic from eyelid R (red circle)

I also removed the piece circled in red below with wirecutters and a crystal nail file and sanded down the bits in yellow on both eyelids:

However, after modding, I discovered that the eyelids are not the same shape or size (?!?). The curvature and length is also different

so what worked on eyelidR (which blinks fine) did not work for eyelidL (the wonky one on your right) Note: Rida is wearing 12mm chips here which are slightly too small on type 3 and MIO Pullips

I need to add plastic on eyelidL to the tip next to the spring as it is a lot shorter and I’ll need to add a new side post to keep it in place at the side of the mech.

One day I will finish the Mini-Tennant I started back in 2009.

I got him out of his box today and I am quite alarmed to see that dome of his blush has mysteriously faded on one side of his face (despite using MSC UV cut). Some of his lip paint has flacked away too.

That's easy to fix though.

I put off this project because I had acrylic eyes for him but I was too scared to modify the eyemech. I think I am just gonna get him some transparent eyeships and print out some pupils instead.

I WOULD make him a milliput nose but... am I strong enough emotionally for this kind of work ?...

This is Malia. She is a full custom Pullip Nomado that I originally did in 2007 and then redid her in 2010. She has a painted clear Obitsu hard bust body and Rida's eyemech. I hardly do anything with her because she is floppy and I don't want to chip her layers of paint. It was nice to redress her for a couple photos though!

I adopted an Unoa Lusis. Lusis was one of the dolls I wanted since forever. I had two Lusis Faceplates in 2012 but since I was on a tight budget I never was able to finish the dolls and let the FPs go.

My dream of owning an Unoa Akubi has fullfilled some weeks ago and now I can proudly say I have my Lusis. It’s a A-Grade Lusis and the former owner is from UK, I got all the official paper work, eyemech, eyes, teeth-part, default wig, the original box AND the face up & hand/feet blush was done by Studio Darjeeling in 2015 (and that all for the price of a new B-Grade Lusis without customsfee or the all the custom hassle... I just had to use the chance).

I was so happy to see the box on the stairs as I got home, it almost felt like getting a first doll again ;A;

Sadly Theodore hasn’t any clothes, eyes or a wig now, I had to put spare ones on him to not having him naked.
