           HELLO  ,  HELLO  ,  HELLO  !!   my name’s v  ,  or van  ,  &  i’m your local sad starving artist  .  i have entirely too much time on my hands  &  therefore i spend most of my time watching psychological horrors  ,  movies that my brother recommends or marathoning the first few seasons of the simpsons  .  i literally just realised that we could post intros so this is going to be a MESS but i’m so  ,  so pleased to introduce my favourite boy  ,  EZRA LOVEGROVE  !  honestly  ,  he’s the human equivalent of a depressed couch fart but i love him so much  &  i hope you love my angry little son just as much as i do  !

leather jackets over whatever you found on the floor  ;  crisp white shirts with their sleeves rolled up ---- - do you ever stick to a pattern  ??  swathes of ink paint one delicate arm, the other clutches black coffee  &  your will to live. tousled curls, steadfast grimace ---- - it’s a surprise old men don’t stop  &  tell you to smile, you’re much prettier when you smile. glinting band upon your finger, hard hues that reveal absolutely nothing  &  it’s no wonder that they all think you’re some kind of enigma.

so ! ezra lovegrove is the third of four kids, born to two parents who hardly even noticed their children growing up. alistair and catherine lovegrove owned a bank up until their untimely deaths, and placed far more importance on their business than their family. ( their business was entirely corrupt ; after their deaths, news stories came pouring out about how the lovegroves were running scam after scam, how they had evaded tax for nearly ten years, how they had stolen millions of dollars off of innocent people. ) ezra was the kind of kid who, growing up, needed attention from his parents and when he didn’t get it, it changed him completely. as a child, he was energetic, bubbly and talkative ---- - the nannies that raised him absolutely adored him, as well as his other siblings ( fleur, miles and violet ). when his parents died in a fatal car collision, ezra was 10 and genuinely didn’t care that they had died. ( his philosophy was that if they hadn’t cared about his existence, why should he care about the end of theirs ? )

the four lovegrove siblings were split up by child services shortly after the death of their parents ; the oldest, fleur, had begged and screamed to become her siblings’ legal guardians but it was to no avail. ezra was packed off to live in salem, massachusetts, and to this day he has never seen his siblings again. he knows they’re out there and he’s tried to find them, but it hasn’t worked.

for most of his adolescence, ezra stayed with the one foster family in salem. after hearing about what had happened to his family and the nature of his past, the wright family expected ezra to be some kind of manic, out-of-it party boy that drowned his sorrows in cheap vodka and cheap one-night-stands ; he was the complete opposite. he read anything and everything he could get his hands on ; his most prized possession at the age of seventeen was a thoroughly-pawed copy of the bell jar. he rarely left his attic bedroom and worked just hard enough through high school to be accepted into columbia after his graduation. he left in the middle of the night, in a cheap van he’d saved up for through the part-time jobs he worked through school. he left a note, thanking his foster family for everything, and promised to keep them updated on his life at columbia. ( he still writes them letters to this day. )

keep in mind, ezra’s label is the savant for a reason ---- - he’s clever as. he studied a bachelor of arts, then went on to complete a masters’ degree in teaching with a specialisation in history. history has always been his thing, along with english literature ---- - he currently works as a high school history teacher and whilst he hates the teenagers that he teaches, he falls more and more in love with the subject matter each day. he finds something so enchanting about history, and absolutely adore it. 

he moved from new york to florida at twenty-four, and that’s when he moved into swan key ! he liked how small the apartment was, and how close it was to the school he had applied to teach at. it was also just big enough for himself and one other person ---- - that other person just so happened to be his girlfriend, morgan, and the two still reside in the same apartment to this day.
