What has happened to the Nintendo Realms?
Everything I could have possibly wanted. Finally, I have complete unadulterated power in my Hands, and the Realms are close to being mine, and when they are, they will be consumed by the depths of Subspace forever.
I supposed I have @motheratfacetroid and @dsatfacetroid to thank for my rebirth. After years of Master Hand and Crazy Hand domineering the Realms as if the so-called Guardians were their puppets, the overlords of supremacy within the Realms had gotten sick of the Hands' antics and decided to take the reins for themselves. They sieged Final Destination, laid waste to both of the Hands, and incidentally destroyed the Monolith Crystal within the heart of their fortress. That infernal crystal had kept me bound ever since my last conquest ended in failure, all because I foolishly believed I could rely on those same puppets to fulfill my vision... but their inadequacy was the chink in my plot. But with the crystal obliterated, I felt my strength regaining like never before. All those plans, all those dreams, all those vendettas I swore to enact were finally tangible once more, and I finally took vengeance on them: the Guardians, the Hands... All of them.
With the pathetic pantheon of the Realms weakened by Mother Brain, I enslaved both Master Hand and Crazy Hand to my Chains of Light once more, I began my conquest across the Realms with an army of Primids at my side. I started at the precious beacon of innocence and hope for the Realms... Mushroom Kingdom, and in the middle of Princess Peach's 30th Birthday Party, I succeeded in the unthinkable: I killed Mario. I smote him with my amber-blood dagger, trapping his soul inside to fuel my strength. Not even the purest of Green 1UP Mushrooms could save him. The retaliation that came thereafter was violent as I slew Rosalina, the Alpha Yoshi, Wario, Donkey Kong. A select few like the cowardices Luigi, Waluigi, and Princess Daisy managed to escape my blade... but it didn't matter. After I executed Princess Peach, I took her crown, the Relic of Super Mario Galaxy, and crushed the crown in my hands. With the Realm destabilized, I could permanently shroud it in darkness. The left over R.O.B.s I had helped set up a Subspace Bomb, which detonated in the center of Mushroom Kingdom.
It bores me to go over all the little details that followed afterwards, but my conquest only became tedious after that. The crumbling of Super Mario Galaxy sent a rippling warning to the other Realms of my arrival, which only made me move up my timeline instead of relishing every moment of their demise. The next to fall was Hyrule, as I slew the virtuous Zelda and that traitor Ganondorf, using the power of the Hands to extract the Triforce of Power and Wisdom from their souls and into my hands. In the center of Hyrule Castle I detonated another Subspace Bomb, one so powerful it consumed the entire Realm. Only Link and his despicable Master Sword—the Sword that Seals the Darkness—remains as that hero fights in the shadows. But even he cannot survive the depths of Subspace for long. As my shadow bugs hunted down the Ancient Guardians of Hyrule and consumed them, they became my new agents. It won't be long now until the Triforce of Courage, the third and final piece, is mine.
The same story occurred with the Lylax System, Ivalice, Angel Land, and various alternates of a planet known as Earth. I admit, the power I faced when I came to most of these Realms was significant, but once their Guardian and their Relic was crushed, they bent to my will. There are a select few Realms that still evade my submission... the Realm of Pokémon and the Realm of Archanea and Valentia, to name a couple. But the most difficult I had faced after that was Dreamland. It is quite difficult to imagine that such a small, seemingly adorable, pink puff ball could cause so much damage. Kirby was my greatest threat yet... the power of the Star Rod enabled him abilities that could free the Hands. But once I captured his friends and smote Meta Knight and King Dedede, and took the demon's soul, Kirby was without allies any longer. Kirby escaped on a Warp Star, but with him no longer in Dreamland, that gave me the leverage I needed to consume Dreamland in eternal darkness, erupting the largest of Subspace Bombs in the center of Planet Popstar.
The grand conquest has been tiresome, but the consumption of the Realms, devouring the souls of the Guardians, and vanquishing the power of the Relics now leaves me eager to satiate my thirst for total control. I have decided to save the Metroid Realm for last, in gratitude for the inadvertent service of Mother Brain and Dark Samus of releasing me from my bonds. But when I am certain Kirby and Link are destroyed, then and only then will I begin my dominance of the last of the Realms.
And then all will fall under me.
All will fall under Tabuu.

Now? We begin our domination. There is no one more suited and understanding of this Realm than you. We will stretch our reign across the stars, and with you at my side, dear Samus, there is very little that can oppose us.
And now that dear Blujay is out of the way, we can start with Earth.

*Martin quickly rolled as the rather hefty sword of the new entity crashed down where he had been but a short moment ago. Sparks of light and dark erupted at the point of impact, making Martin back peddle further. With a screech the monster swung the sword horizontally, the tip of the sword unleashed a focused beam of interwoven energy across the top of the tower, causing the party to avoid its erratic movement*
Arius: To hell with this!
*Arius unleashed a hail of energy blasts to the being’s upper body, a few shots met their marks before the remainder were absorbed into a freshly formed dark portal. A low growl emanated from the creature as it seemed to take a quick moment to assess the other targets on the platform as only just now they had caught their attention. His focus swapped back to Martin quite often, but his fixation also seemed to drift towards the pair of luminoth. With a swift uppercut, a wave of darkness was sent along the floor towards the couple, jutted spikes erupting from the crawling abyss as it encroached*

Another fanfiction-based drawing, of J-Syr in Ingsmasher armor.
Edit: Didn’t expect anyone to notice this, so I might as well provide some context. The fanfiction in question is actually a Transformers/Metroid crossover where the decepticons end up on Aether. J-Syr is an original character who will eventually end up marrying U-Mos, at which point I’ll refer to her as J-Mos. I had the Ingsmasher armor concept because of all those little busts of luminoth where they have that glowing line across their eyes and a horn. It made me think of stag beetle armor, so I’ve wanted to draw this for a while. I’m still not super happy with it; I feel like it should be bulkier. I figured if the Ingsmashers carried big orbs for smashing, that the hammer with this suit should be round as well.

*Weavel lets out a sigh as he shakes his head, letting his arms fall to his sides*
You do remember that she was trying to kill us, right? Ugh, jeez, I don’t even know what to believe anymore. Let’s just... go before I start thinking about this again.

*The form of Metroid Prime floats slightly toward the massive castle before her, red glowing eyes watching the sprawl of life that inhabits the structure. In particular, she tries to find any sign of Tabuu, only to be met with silence. Claws on her front appendages fidget slightly as she loses herself in thought for a moment.
Where once there were occasional veins of phazon visible underneath her exoskeleton, now there are veins carrying liquid zebetite, glowing slightly in regular pulses, like the dim embers hidden among smoldering charcoal.
Metroid Prime floats forward again, opening her gaping maw to the sky, releasing a chilling roar before firing a beam of plasma toward the main entrance to the castle.*
Come now, you fools. It's been too long since I've eaten like a metroid...
*Just as the shadow bugs and primids start to gather, looking toward the source of the attack, the spidery form of Metroid Prime throws another beam toward the group, but this time starts to siphon life from them. Shadow bugs dissolve into dust, primids start to freeze as their bodies are dried into mere husks, but the robots remain unaffected. In only moments, a small horde of creatures lay dead at the entry to the castle, and the metroid starts to fidget impatiently.*
Pitiful...

The Story So Far (Part 6)
And life continues to get busier as time passes. Nevertheless, the mission shall be completed. Engage!
Weavel, Samus, Alaina arrived to the water world of Okeana. Upon arriving, the team noticed that there were no defenses to the underwater base that contained the leader of the Aurora Unit rebellion, AU 673, and found it highly suspicious. On the other side of the island, Blujay touched down in the Lightning's Breath after preparing himself for the mission ahead. Shortly after departing to reunite with his allies, Blujay heard the sound of explosions, and quickened his pace to see what the matter was.
The sound of explosions originated from Weavel's ship, which was attacked by a rocket-launcher-weilding Alice. Before anyone has time to react, Alice retreats in a pod below, narrowly missing the strike of Weavel's energy scythe. It is clear to everyone, except Blujay, who arrived moments after the attack ended, that the Galactic Federation was aware of their presence, and the only way onwards was downwards into the base itself, if not to repair Weavel's ship, then to eliminate the threat once and for all.
As the group entered into the jungle, Blujay apologized to Samus for his rudeness on the Dark Star, and extended Samus his RoboSkin healing equipment for her to use. He finally and formally introduced himself to her, explaining the reasoning that he confided in her was because Master Hand told him that he could. Samus laughed, responding that she was no one's friend, and was very often referred to as a last resort to solving galaxy-threatening issues. Weavel and Alaina respectfully join the conversation, Weavel mentioning Zebesians as not being evil, but thrown into a life cycle they can't control; Alaina reminding the group to prepare for an altercation at any moment.
Hidden in the lush forestry, Alice had returned with her sniper rifle, aiming for Blujay and firing. Blujay suddenly sensed the incoming attack with the change of energy in the air, but before he could react, Samus took the bullet for him, inadvertently shooting a Super Missile at the structure where Alice took cover. The destroyed building revealed an open shaft leading down into the base, but after a sweep of the area, Q5-C7 finds no trace of the assailant. The team agreed that staying on the surface was more dangerous than going in, even though they knew that was what the Federation wanted. Weavel, being burnt on his ship being destroyed, was more adamant on finding an alternative route, but when the others descended, so did he.
While Blujay and Samus descended into the ship manually, Weavel and Alaina took transport pods. While in those pods, AU 673 identified them and questioned their presence on Okeana. Alaina shot out the speaker, uninterested in conversation, while Weavel dismissed the Aurora Unit's taunts with complete apathy. While Samus and Blujay reunited with Weavel after making their way through the base, Alaina ran into trouble being chased down by platoons of marines. She lost them when a door blocked their path to her, and Alaina found herself in the Map Room of Okeana, where she established communication with Samus, Weavel, and Blujay, verifying they were on the same level, but not the same area. She further identified the location of AU 673, who was in the heart of the facility.
Just as she thought she was safe, Alice blasted a sniper bolt through Alaina's leg in passing. Alaina attempted to return fire, but her gun jammed in the process, leaving the Champion defenseless. The sniper then appeared from the shadows to grapple Alaina by her mask, pounding it with a now metallic hand. We discover that the assailant is, in fact, the same Alice which helped the team on the surface of Drelion, and not an android. After being corrupted by Elira's darkness, the assassin was recovered by AU 673 and turned into a cyborg, programmed to obey the rebel unit's every command. Alaina recognized this, even being beat to a pulp, and barely got out the words she hoped would wake Alice up before she, herself, passed out:
"You are not a machine."
Meanwhile, Weavel, Samus, and Blujay ran into trouble of their own. A deployment of Federation Soldiers attacked, and Weavel took point on slicing through most of them with his energy scythe and blasting away the rest with his various cannons. Samus warned Blujay that Weavel was still not to be trusted, and the two share their mutual hatred for underwater labyrinths.
However, the chaos only increased when a team of Aqua Pirate divers approached the thick acrylic window from the other side, placing a time bomb on its exterior. Without a second to lose, Samus' deployed a Power Bomb in the corridor center, which spurned a quick evasive action by Blujay as well. Weavel, however, sealed the door between the two of them, assuring them that he would stay behind to buy them time, saluting to Samus as a form to trust. Samus grabbed Blujay and hurried away with her speed booster until they were safe.
When she stopped, Blujay contained himself to prevent injury from whiplash. Samus approached a door unlock able by a missile, which she fired to open. The two of them entered into the next room, only to find themselves in the presence of the rebellion's leader: AU 673.
Their engagement with the Aurora Unit, and the events which follow, will come in the next recap.

*Crazy Hand fights the control of the Chains of Light.*
No—you will NOT have me...
*The energy strikes Crazy Hand, zapping him mercilessly unless all of his energy is drained.*
I...
How... how is this...
... eheheh ... I goofed.
*Crazy Hand’s fingers lay limp in submission to Tabuu as the Chains of Light take over.*

*Arius and Alice had to break off from their allies during the evacuation off of Okeana, the pair had been pinned down by a decent sized group of kennet forces. Alice managed to take out the forces with her sniper rifle as Arius ran from tree to tree, keeping the enemy back with suppressive fire as he did so. Eventually, they fought their way onto a kennet dropship and took off. Alice’s cybernetic components helped her to datamine the ship to enable her to utilize the flight controls. Arius was leaned against a wall, his shoulder had blood running down it, several kennet rounds pierced it during their last push to the dropship. Alice was able to finish off the last few soldiers and drag Arius aboard. Now that they were in deep space, Alice set the controls to automatic piloting and knelt down besides Arius. Her azure mechanical eye shifted in contrast to her own natural blue eye. Arius feigned a smile*
Arius: Guess I owe you again.
Alice: Are you ok?
Arius: Never better, he-owww!
*Alice had began to suter the wound while Arius spoke*
Arius: A...little warning.
Alice: ...
*Alice methodically worked the wound until until it was fully closed, then she sat back and once again stared robotically at Arius. Arius grimaced as he tried to move his shoulder as if nothing was wrong*
Arius: Thanks, we should probably go to the nearest system, if Samus and the others made it off world, they’ll probably be there.
Alice: The witch.
Arius: I know you want to take her down, believe me I do to, she turned Martin into a dark energy pawn of hers and her powers are scary as hell. Problem is we don’t know where Martin or the witch is at all.
*Alice still fought through her two clashing minds, speech was still hard for her to process but it had been improving, or at least Arius said it had. Alice thought he was too optimistic for a marine but his skills in a fight went without speaking, the two sat in quietness for a good while*

*The Monolith Crystal cracks at Master Hand’s magnificent power, which Dark Samus reverted towards it at the last second.*
No... the Monolith Crystal!
What... NO! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
*But Master Hand doesn’t have time to react. From Mother Brain comes a massive beam of pure energy which strikes his palm. Master Hand struggles to fight the beam, but the Monolith Crystal’s instability results in an unexpected weakness in Master Hand. Normally, he would absorb the blast and send it back at Mother Brain like he did in Dreamland some five years ago. But he finds himself suddenly fatigued, struggling to remain strong.*

Dark Hand.
Now everything makes sense: how Katie got to the Metroid Realm, how she knows about Master Hand, how she knew how to find Mother Brain, how she discovered Dark Samus and the radioactive fungi known as Phazon.
You led her straight here. Didn’t even need coordinates, because your internal connection to Master Hand led to back to the Metroid Realm. You filled her mind with false dreams and now have poisoned both my universe and the Realms.
Still trying to put together how you managed to open a wormhole and breach into the Realms. Or how you managed to survive the Battle of Final Destination after Master Hand and Crazy Hand crushed you into a ball and sent you hurtling into oblivion.

*Katie leads Samus into the true armory of the Kennets, where in the center is a table with an anti-gravitational device on top that glows white. The Mistress types in a command into a nearby holographic keypad, and a circular hatch opens from the ceiling.*
While you were unconscious, we did some research on your Varia Suit and were able to create a compatible module that will hone in your Kennet prowess to its maximum potential.
*From the ceiling, a large, glowing, cylindrical container drops onto the table from the hatch, but is caught by the anti-gravity machine, causing it to float in front of them. It glows red, and through the glass, the image of a digitalized red V, the symbol of the Kennets—arching with red electricity—can be recognized.*

This is the Kennet Suit. This adjustment will not only give your suit a cherry red color scheme with glowing pink accents, but it will allow the Enlightenment to interact with your suit to allow for even faster cognitive reaction and more efficient power output. The suit is also far more durable against energy and ice based attacks, and permit locked-in communication channels with any and all Kennet units within a respective radius. It also comes with one other upgrade: the Kennet Beam. Your suit will be equipped with Enlightenment Serum to use against foes whom you'd like to convert. However, using too much of it may damage your suits Energy Cells. We’re looking into developing the technology further to avoid that mishap.
When you’re ready, please step forward and accept the module.

*At the top of the tower, Araysia wiped sweat from her forehead as she reached the final door alongside Alice. The sniper’s blue eyes turned to meet Araysia’s fatigued state. The cybernetically infused woman certainly had an advantage on the jovian in regards to stamina. Araysia could tell that her condition was being evaluated. Araysia waved her hand in dismissal*
Araysia: I’m fine, if I wanted to quit, I would have done it half way up this freaking tower!
Alice: Yes, but up ahead isn’t a simple beast or over zealous darkling. Elira is much stronger. Those luminoth should have let me kill her when I had the chance. Guard this door, I have a feeling she won’t be held by restraints. It will be better if the both of us could focus on her with our full potential. Worrying about one another will give her an advantage.
*Araysia bit her lip in frustration, she didn’t like leaving Alice alone to battle Elira. Though she was bluffing about her fatigue, the countless transformations that she had used throughout the climb had taken their toll on her body, she knew bravado wasn’t going to get her far. Araysia slumped against the wall and tossed one of her daggers to Alice*
Araysia: Don’t make me open that door.
*Alice nodded and stood in front of the door. It parted, revealing a short staircase that led up to an opening to the roof of the tower. She stepped out into the dark atmosphere once more and froze. Elira’s body hung, only being lifted up by the chains that were attached to her wrists. A swirling darkness floated above her, and the corpses of her captors littered the floor around her. Despite the grizzly scene, Elira looked unharmed despite being lifeless*
(Does her power have a will of its own?)
*Alice wasn’t going to take chances, she loaded a round of light crystal into her wrist cannon, and aimed it directly towards Elira’s drooping head. She fired, and the sound of screeching metal was heard as her arm was severed from her body. Alice went spiraling towards the edge of tower. She quickly looked up as she had lost her firing arm along with her light crystal rounds. An expression of irritation crossed her face but soon turned to surprise as she recognized the frame of the dark warrior standing in defense of Elira*
Elira: My paladin...my paladin...has come to save me from the nightmare...
*Her word were distant, as if she weren’t in the room, the Paladin held a sizable sword and shield. It moved methodically in an almost mechanical motion towards Alice. She knew it wasn’t Martin. At least, it wasn’t their Martin. Alice wondered if somehow in her distress was summoning a full apparition of Martin unconsciously. Alice activated her scythe on her left arm. She now was at a huge disadvantage with her range gone, the Paladin had melee superiority. With an unyielding run, the Paladin charged. Alice slid under the brutish being as it had lunged for a horizontal strike. She still could outmaneuver the being but one wrong move would end it all. The Paladin simply turned around with no sign of irritation, as if everything that had occurred was natural. It seemed to size down Alice as she examined her opponent*
(If she is recreating Martin in her twisted head, he should still have that chest wound in this state.)
*True enough, the center of the Paladin’s chest armor was fractured. If she could plunge her light scythe into that spot, the beast would hopefully go down. It charged once more. This time, Alice stood her ground, she dodged the diagonal swing of its blade and then moved in to plunge her scythe into its chest. The blade struck against the Paladin’s shield as it pushed her back with it. Alice was faced with yet another charge, she jumped over and past the Paladin. As she turned to face it, she let out a gasp of surprise as she was struck in the center of her body with the Paladin’s thrown shield. Her body got sent hurtling back, metal scraped on metal until she reached a grinding halt next to the edge. She coughed and blood came out of her mouth. Her senses had grown dull. Without a doubt that blow had caused major damage to her mechanical and biological internals. Fortunately, she could still feel her legs do she shakily stood to her feet. The Sniper knew she was outmatched indefinitely as the beast gave her little time to recover, it sprinted towards her with unrelenting ferocity. An idea came to Alice in the moment, as she stood on the edge of the tower, a fatal drop to her back. As the Paladin got close it moved to slow its pace as it moved in for the killing blow. Alice carefully spun, the beast turned with her to avoid falling, leaving the chest exposed to her scythe into the Paladin’s fractured armor as its blade cleaved through her legs. Both of the combatants fell to the ground. The armored apparition writhed as the light energy coursed through it until finally it dissipated. Fragments of the beings dark energy floated back into the dark energy floating above Elira. Alice’s senses dulled as she laid upon the ground, the Paladin had nearly killed her. She struggled but managed to use her only remaining limb, her left arm, to roll herself over. Elira still hung motionlessly as she was suspended in the chains, a newly formed tear had run down her face, perhaps in recognition of the fallen warrior. Alice then began to pull herself towards the witch with her arm. Her metal body screeched as she made her way. With each pull, she could feel her strength fading her body, her senses had all but dulled to numbness. One pull followed by another, and one after that. Everything seemed distant*
(Just...a little...farther.)

Conversation
*Final Destination was now Subspace. Mother Brain's hulking form stood just beyond the dread gates of the fortress, awaiting to be greeted. Ominous shades rose and the screams of Subspace's ghosts screeched their response.*
Mother Brain: I do not come as a conqueror of this realm. But I will not turn down such an invitation.
*The banshees' scream caused Mother's form to quiver. She retaliated with a phazon beam shot without warning from an extended digit, the claw shimmering blue. Somehow the attack was completely absorbed by the creature, prompting Mother to claw them all at once with a single, swift swipe.*
Mother Brain: My godhood is no falsehood. Cease this mockery and let us discuss the nature of our pantheon.
*Mother's eloquent words belied her nature, her teeth dribbling with a foul, oily swill, akin to saliva for a being that did not need it. Her eye was bloodshot, her focus still strained from assuming direct control of the denizens of Tourian.*

Today marks the anniversary for eight years of facetroid. Sure, not much happened overall... Except, y'know, Tourian being moved to Phaaze, the Chairman of the Federation being imprisoned for treason, rogue Aurora Units breaking the Federation... the usual.
I'm glad to see that everyone who's still here has improved in their writing over time... the early facetroid days were fun but I can't say it made for good reading. Of course now there's like fifteen different crossovers and eight years of backstory so it's not like you could just sit down and read facetroid anyway.
I hope we can have a story that's not about a strain of phazon corrupting everything... maybe the kennets could be that conquest. Maybe I need to go back to Yukiko again.
Welcome to Facetroid, where everything's made up and the timescale doesn't matter!
Hail, great Mother! Hail Svychx!
May the Light of Aether light your darkest hour!
