#fae can't be corrupted but the corruption process will kill them

I saw your recent monster mash post and was like
Hey this is so cool I need to know more, so how does the corruption work? Is it like turning into a demon but for monsters?
corruption is kind of just. a shittier way of making demons. because the big thing about corruption is that it is a completely separate process from demonification, even though it achieves similar results. and what i mean by that is that any monster can be corrupted, but it's not exactly like it's going to connect them to muzan, so muzan has no reason to want to do it or have it done, especially when it generally just results in a really strong monster that has zero loyalty to anybody
the corruption process itself is where, through some kind of magic, a monster is turned from a normal average run of the mill monster into a magical monster. except it only kind works, like. one out of ten times. otherwise it either doesn't work or results in death
Tumblr media
corruption is also very dependent on which monster subspecies is being corrupted. some monsters just . don't get corrupted. others will just always die in the process. a select few are absolutely made for the process and almost never die from being corrupted.
either way, aside from the physical changes, corruption basically always also fucks with your head a lot. kaigaku is a dude with supreme self-confidence issues and a cowardly mindset. after he's corrupted, he's violently power-hungry and righteously angry at a lot of the people he thinks have wronged him.
kokushibou took a gamble in corrupting him, one that muzan probably wasn't particularly happy with him for, but it turned out great for kokushibou because kaigaku doesn't immediately go off on his own to start causing problems and instead sticks around to do the demon king's bidding. and maybe to eat people, i dunno

Jude Duarte Propaganda Post
“If I cannot become better than them, I will become so much worse” and then she did and it was so iconic of her.
okokok so she was so desperate to make something of herself and feel powerful that she stabbed herself in the hand to get a job as a spy. She took small doses of poison to build up an immunity. She tricked a fairy prince into giving her power over him than instated him as a puppet king. She fights with a sword and also her wits. Murder is her first resort. She's a human raised in fairyland (a dangerous situation) who became Queen. She's morally grey largely because her enemies are sooo much worse than her. She doesn't hurt people for no reason. She just has many reasons.
The favourite daughter (at least at the start of the book) of the guy who killed her parents and kidnapped her and her sisters when she was 7 (he was her half-sister's (fae) dad). He taught her how to fight with various weapons.
She wanted to become a knight in order to secure her place in the fearie realm as a mortal and earn some respect but took the opportunity to become a spy for one of the fearie princes (in exchange for immunity to faerie glamour) instead when he offered her the position due to her being able to lie.
When the prince she is spying for gets killed in a coup she makes another prince (the love interest and titular character of the first two books) swear himself into her service and sets him up as a puppet king (against his wishes) poisoning her adoptive father (non-fatally) in the process.
She later marries him to become queen but he banishes her right after.
She sneaks back into the palace by standing in for her twin sister during an interrogation (due to her being immune to fearie glamour while her sister isn't) in order to cover up that her sister killed her husband.
When her husband was turned into a giant serpent she contemplated binding him to her (basically enslaving him) which would allow her to keep her position of power, but she ultimately decided she couldn't do that and chose to kill him instead which turned him back (which she didn't know would happen).
"If I can't be better then them, I will become so much worse."
"I won't be horrible for the sake of my own amusement. That's got to be worth something."
"And if the serpent grows in monstrousness and corruption, if it poisons the land of Elfhame itself, then let me be the queen of monsters. Let me rule over that blackened land with my redcap father as a puppet by my side. Let me be feared and never again afraid."

Fanfic writer asks: 16 and 50
16. A fic you're very proud of?
Throne of Blood.
I've known for awhile that I wanted to write a story to explore darker parts of Elena as a vampire. Her willingness to kill and her need for a mother-figure that drives a large portion of the beginning at least. And a story where she gets to New Orleans before Klaus to establish a foothold in the city, ultimately leading to them needing to work together. The political dynamics of the city are interesting to me because I don't think any one group is "right" or "wrong".
And I love stories where everyone has a solid perspective and motivation.
I am so antsy for Klaus to get there but I do think the build up of what Elena has been up to outside of Mystic Falls is needed.
50. Is there something you often repeat in your fics (a verb, a trope etc)?
The word entirely has been showing up so much. I need to comb through during the editing process to get rid of it. It plagues me.
As for tropes, there are definitely themes I like to explore. Elena being the mother of monsters is one of them. I hate that Klaus is seen as being the only contribution to the hybrids. I think the new species are as much hers as they are his. Exploring why people are so attracted to Elena and so willing to help her/be protective over her. I think of it as a latent power that she can't control. In Queen of the Highway, Bonnie speculates that she might be part fae. In Throne of Blood, Elena meets a siren and is called a corrupted sister.

TMA Avatar Hcs
-Scars are considered very important/special because they only stay if they're really important/special
-the entities more-or-less decide what their avatars look like. Changes are minor though. (think harry potter getting a haircut, then it growing back right after) symptoms are: freckles appearing or disappearing one at a time, premature white hairs/white hairs re-gaining color, rapid hair growth/loss ect.
-emotional anchors are stronger then physical anchors. (think jons rib, vs martins tapes)
-each avatar has two or three common powers that they share with most of their patron-mates, and one avatar specific power.
-only some avatars can kill other avatars. Mostly ones from the Slaughter or Hunt. All avatars can hurt each other, but murder is off the table for most.
-The Corruption calls the Desolation 'the Purge' or 'Purger' because of how it has a tendency to "purge" infestations. those two have an interesting relationship.
-sometimes Web avatars call the Web mom. sometimes it's joke.
-the Web/A Web avatar made a social media for their patron-mates.
-Web avatars are pretty closely knit.
-Annabel Cane crochets.
-maybe the other patrons make their own social medias at some point.
-the Web and all of her avatars love to gossip.
-sometimes avatars get dreams/nightmares from their patrons. usually involves music. it's either a "hello, just checking in, how are you?" or a "feed me or i'll eat you." the former changes depending on the patron, the latter is consistent with all of them.
-There are very arbitrary rules, like fae or vampires. (maybe I'll do another post abt them)
-at one point the more statements you showed up in (so if the archivist read a statement and you were in it), the more popular you were.
-avatar marks (pre metamorphosis) and victim tags are very similar.
-avatars call the process of a person dying and becoming an avatar as 'a metamorphosis' or 'the metamorphosis' as a euphemism because of how traumatizing the process is.
-Avatars and people who spend a long time around them (wether or not they know about the paranormal) can better tell who is and isn't human.
-victims are tagged by the patrons, not run-ins with the paranormal.
-it's unclear what victims are tagged by what patrons, but avatars are drawn to people who are scared of their patron wether or not they're tagged.
-scaring untagged people doesn't feed the avatars, but it does feed their patron.
-it's first come first serve with victims. whoever gets to the tagged first gets it.
-there are three kinds of victim tags. one, blank victims; two, taken victims; three, posted victims. one means the victim isn't claimed yet. two means a claimed victim. three means a victim that has been scared already. they aren't official names, they're avatar slang (might do a post abt avatar slang)
Tumblr media
-the dot on the tag is called a tag blot.
-blank victims are called that because their tag is blank.
-taken victim's mark tag changes depending on the avatar that claimed them.
-posted victims are called that because they're post supernatural.
-all victim tags are the same, all avatar marks are unique.
-some avatars keep scrapbooks.
-marks and tags can't be seen, but you can FEEL what kind it is.
-some business men make deals with avatars. it's kinda like the mafia mixed with the devil (deals with the devil kinda thing)
-avatars agree to the little 'deals' mostly for fun and to cause havoc. it never goes well for the business man.
-after a victim has been posted they can be tagged again, but only after a week.
-Eye avatars and Hunt avatars have a symbiotic relationship. sometimes it's subconscious.
-sirens exist as avatars of the Vast, Web, Spiral, or Stranger. (mostly bc i think it'd be cool)
-Avatars have low body temperatures. (exceptions being the Desolation, and sometimes the Corruption)
-the Archivist only dreams of one statement giver a night (and vise versa).
-older avatars brag about past lovers. (like if one of them dated an old celebrity.
-Web avatars are (stereotypically) pretty hot because "people trust a pretty face"
-if you manage to date a lucas you're the ultimate player. keeping a relationship with a lucas is harder than sleeping with one.
-to be invited to peter and elias' wedding/divorce means you have a high status.
-statuses are completely arbitrary. it mostly deals with clout.
-the titanic was a Vast ritual.
-Vast avatars are (stereotypically) adrenaline junkies.
-avatars are fairly divorced from reality, and tend to miss out on a lot of pop culture. (exception being Web avatars who (stereotypically) prioritize looks, and Eye avatars.)
that's it. I had fun writing these!!

So, now that we know more about Niles as a vampire, do you care to share more general vampire lore with us~?
*ack I am SO sorry I keep forgetting to add more/post this T-T* -BUT yesss, I'd be glad to~!
In the old days of Terra, its said that the "first" Vampires came from unions between mortal humans and "fallen" Faes (*those who not only fell from grace back in their heavenly realm, but also allied themselves with "corrupt" forces such as Daemons*). Over the years of these hybrid children spreading out and multiplying, Vampire numbers have grown to be one of the biggest amongst non-human sentient beings in Terra (and one of the few who can easily blend in with human societies without detection, for the most part).
There are two ways one can be a Vampire; either through being born as one or by being bitten with Vampiric-venom. This venom isn't always activated when a Vampire is trying to feed, and not every human is guaranteed to survive a transformation either. It all just depends from person-to-person, but generally-speaking the process to become a vampire takes place over a week-long period... starting with itchiness from the bite, a slowed appetite for food, and weakness from prolonged-exposure to the sun. Once the human has the strength to make it to the end of the process, they must feed on an immediate blood source or they risk dying of thirst by sunrise.
Though said to be a rare case, "Dhampir" children are possible to be born through a vampire and human union. Having only half of the powers and blood thirst from their vampire parent, Dhampirs can live a normal life as any other human as long as they're careful in public. A dead-ringer to recognizing a Dhampir would be to look at their eyes, often splitting in Heterochromatic-variants that "glow" under direct moonlight.
Tumblr media
The taste of blood to vampires isn't the same as what it's like for humans (a metallic/copper-y flavor). Instead for vampires, the taste of blood varies around from either being hearty & savory (like meat sauce), sweet & rich (like chocolate), or even crisp & sour (like citrus juices). These factors all depend on the human's own diet and health, so depending on the vampire's preferences they'd only tend to go after prey that fits that particular criteria (otherwise they'll get nauseous/sick from consuming an unfamiliar flavor).
Outside of blood, a vampire can also live off of meat (cooked or otherwise), insects (usually in struggling/low-populated areas of the world as a last-resort), and specialized fruits that are bred to squeeze out a thick, blood-like juice for easy consumption. Vampires don't really mind human food, but most of them find it not very "satisfying" to live off of for very long.
In terms of human superstition, Vampires tend to correlate between these particular myths: being generally weak to holy water/objects (as it traces back to their ancient fallen Fae roots), not being able to enter uninvited houses, and unable to see their own reflections in water (though regular mirrors/photos are fine). They're not all that weak to garlic actually (at worst it just gives them a hay fever-like allergy), and stakes to the heart only weakens but can't fully-kill them (so chopping off their head is the only way to defeat them, much like a zombie).
In their "full" true hunting forms, Vampires naturally look very "bat"-like and feral when they're on the move to feed. They're said to be quiet predators as they can often swoop in swiftly to grab hold of their food source, so humans nearby need to take extra precautions to ward them off at night (such as wearing bright reflective gear/holy objects).
