Fanfic writer asks: 16 and 50
16. A fic you're very proud of?
Throne of Blood.
I've known for awhile that I wanted to write a story to explore darker parts of Elena as a vampire. Her willingness to kill and her need for a mother-figure that drives a large portion of the beginning at least. And a story where she gets to New Orleans before Klaus to establish a foothold in the city, ultimately leading to them needing to work together. The political dynamics of the city are interesting to me because I don't think any one group is "right" or "wrong".
And I love stories where everyone has a solid perspective and motivation.
I am so antsy for Klaus to get there but I do think the build up of what Elena has been up to outside of Mystic Falls is needed.
50. Is there something you often repeat in your fics (a verb, a trope etc)?
The word entirely has been showing up so much. I need to comb through during the editing process to get rid of it. It plagues me.
As for tropes, there are definitely themes I like to explore. Elena being the mother of monsters is one of them. I hate that Klaus is seen as being the only contribution to the hybrids. I think the new species are as much hers as they are his. Exploring why people are so attracted to Elena and so willing to help her/be protective over her. I think of it as a latent power that she can't control. In Queen of the Highway, Bonnie speculates that she might be part fae. In Throne of Blood, Elena meets a siren and is called a corrupted sister.

Promised bad post (you'll never guess what's under the cut)
It came to me in a vision and it was my duty to make it a reality

16. A fic you're very proud of?
Can I cheat a bit and choose a few of the fics I'm particularly proud of?
5 Times The Doctor Talked About River Song With Graham (+1 Time The Fam Finally Met Her)
This one's the story where I have Thirteen opening up to Graham about her wife. Plus my Library fix-it where I managed to give the Doctor and River a happy ending.
She's Come Undone and Set Free
My current WIP. Where I deal with Elena and Caroline's trauma and give them a support system (with each other and also with Bonnie and Rebekah).
But also there's some Elejah and Klaroline.
And I torture the Salvatores.
the ones that seek and find (six years in the relationship of harry and luna)
An alternate version of canon that's basically the same except Harry met Luna in second year and the way their relationship might have developed through the next six years.
5 Times Monica and Her Mom Have Difficult Conversations About Auntie Carol (+1 Time She Plans A Parent Trap With Her Skrull Friend)
The Danbeau fic from Monica's POV which starts sad with the day Carol went missing and ends funny with Monica deciding to parent trap her mom and Auntie Carol.
Morai's Call To Hope
This is another WIP which is giving me lots and lots of guilt because I really am proud of it even though I haven't updated it in quite a while (but I'm planning to go back to it after She's Come Undone).
Basically, it's the story where pre-worst decision Anakin travels forward in time to save Ahsoka from Darth Vader and proceeds to be hit over the head with the consequences of all his WORST DECISIONS until he learns things like: don't trust Palpatine, and you should have hugged Snips more, and there's more people at stake than just your wife.
Seriously, I am going back to this fic. I've got the entire thing plotted out.
26. Do you write for yourself or for the readers?
Both? I mean when the idea for a fic strikes I NEED to write it, I want to see how it turns out and what happens and it helps dealing with all the feelings that the show and the characters have given me. But I also really really want to see what other people think of it, if they like it. If it's any good.
34: Favourite comment you ever received?
I love all of the comments I've ever received... that sounds like a very political answer but it's really true.
But. I have received some extra EXTRA special comments on occasion too which have just literally blown up my heart (I will use 'literally' incorrectly if I want to).
It would be way too complicated to go find all of them. But basically, it's the comments that tell me stuff like that the person read the story multiple times, or the person loved it so much they read it even though they were supposed to be doing homework/sleeping/working, or they didn't even ship it before but they do now, or they hadn't watched the show before they read the fic but my story made them go watch the show. Or it's a comment from someone whose fics I've read and adored and I go into a slight meltdown.
So, yeah, those are my favorite kind of comments I guess.

Summary: Potter still wasn't looking at him. Instead he faced the windows, watching the snow and the sunless sea.
Behind the welcome desk, standing tall amidst the wisdom and glistening magic, Draco controlled the spheres of restless light and the flustered books, all with gentle flicks of a wand that had once served Potter without a beat of hesitation.
If Potter were to look, Draco would be ready. He had a right to be here. The library was his, if only after hours.

#5. Do you plan? Or do you “wing it”?
#27. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)
#5. Do you plan? Or do you “wing it”?
I do varying degrees of planning depending on the fic.
Liberal Arts is less planned. More about drama and Klaus/Elena hooking up quickly (for me) and navigating through the story together. I had most of Elena's stuff planned, but anything Klaus related has manifested from the character making it happen.
Throne of Blood has a spreadsheet. Timelines. Arcs. It's the one I want to be the most careful about because I want to get it right from my head to paper.
#27. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)
I don't think I could ever do first or second person POV. I'm comfortable in the third person, especially for fics. I think it helps me get into my characters' heads better in a funny way. Like it isn't me driving, it's them and I'm just there to describe it.
Thank you!

Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and a richness to life that nothing else can bring.
