quick cc note (yes u can all roll ur eyes!! i don’t know why i’m like this either!): can you believe it’s been a whole year since kihyun’s solo debut!!! i’m not going to say that it shifted the trajectory of my life.... but i will say it has been a constant companion ever since it dropped, and has woven itself into my sense of self in the way that music you really, really love makes its way into your very dna. in the future, when i hear these songs, i know that it’ll make me think of this specific time in my life and that it’ll make me smile.

you all must be so tired of me saying this by now LOL but please indulge me once again as i say: i’m just really thankful to kihyun! like yes in a jokey parasocial way where i smile when he sends a message on bubble or posts on the fancafe, but like. on a genuine level, not joking at all, in a “hearing his voice singing some of my favorite songs can calm me down or lift me up or settle me in my own skin depending on what i need from it” way. 

each of the songs on this single album is so special to me — especially comma! — but i think the other thing i treasure so much about it is that at this point, right before his solo debut, i had fallen head over heels for his voice and i was absolutely DYING at the way i was scrounging for OSTs spread across three different spotify profiles to hear him sing a song on his own. (i’m NOT kidding he had songs under KIHYUN and Kihyun and YOO KIHYUN.) when his logo trailer dropped i could feel something shifting in my brain chemistry. similar to the way i felt something shifting when i heard the first lovesong teaser.

anyway this has been just. rambly and vaguely embarrassing, sorry if you read all that! i can’t wait for more of kihyun, both in a group capacity and a solo one. i am always looking forward to what he does next. i will be bereft for a year and a half while he’s gone but i trust him wholly that he will leave behind some covers and videos to carry us through, and he’s been singing so much on play! that it’s like he’s giving us a stockpile to fall back on. and we will always, always have voyager to accompany us as we embark on our various journeys, big and small. ♡

Thanks for the response, your reply helped me gain some perspective! I had thought of this as similar to people sharing kihyun's/jooheon's backstage posts by family and friends during the tour, which was considered okay as their account was public. I feel like with posts like these and fancafe posts, vlives, and fanmeets where they share things that are on the personal side, we end up treating their personal lives as 'content', no different than professional content (ie promo). So the light hearted tweets on my tl didn't seem problematic to me but idk what would be the solution to stop people from going beyond respectful boundaries. Though I personally think idols dating should be treated casually I now realise how this being posted by a young woman makes such a difference, and how the public response also makes it harder for idols to be casual and open about dating. Sigh. I adore shownu and the wonstas so much and I'm on stan twt just to scream about it. I just didn't wanna accidentally post smth insensitive esp bc I'm a new ish fan. But I won't bother you about the unfortunate past things and let it stay old news. Anyway hope you have a good day/night!

ofc!!! no problem!! i feel like my response was a bit all over the place sijfksde but the truth is that at this stage it's very hard to determine if certain things are right or wrong because there's so much grey area. for example, I don't think sharing pics of idols with their family/friends is wrong as long as 1) it was shared on a public account and 2) people stay respectful about it. like if there's no harm in it, it's fine. of course a member's grandma or uncle won't get harassed the same way a young woman posting with an idol would but there are always people who will send weird dms to the idol's friends and family members and try to invade idols' privacy, it doesn't mean interacting with idol content that isn't 100% made for promotion is wrong. it's impossible to do avoid them nowadays anyway.

but yeah in a situation like this, the more people talk about it no matter how light-hearted it will fuel delulu stan's fire and gives them more freedom and opportunity to be weird about it.

Kihyun posted in the fan cafe today, but I can’t see it, even though I bought the 8th Monbebe membership two weeks ago. I also took some very ridiculous test which has not been returned, but also I’m still stuck on associate member.

Really that’s just me asking if Kihyun is ok and what he said, though if you understand the very mysterious fan cafe I’d love more info, as there is no help function or way to reach the staff when you are an associate member. Thanks for your awesome blog!! MX Fighting!

They are not done leveling up 8th gen yet (mine hasn't gone through either). There will be a post on their twitter when they're done, so I wouldnt worry about it until then. I've bought the membership 3 times now, and it usually takes a bit. Normally, the members know and don't post on that board, but maybe Kihyun and Minhyuk (who also posted) don't know because they're in the military right now.
